Device (5) for holding a boot (6) on a sports article such as a snow shoe (1), consisting of an instep strap (21), which comprises first means (R1) or means of pre-adjusting the length of the strap and second means (R2) or means of final adjustment of the strap length, tightening and locking providing the final adjustment of the length of the strap, these being independent of the pre-adjustment means, and in that the foot instep strap (21) consists of a main strap (21a) and a secondary strap (21b), the first main strap portion (211) being connected to the secondary strap (21b), while the other portion (210) or second main strap portion is connected to the rear holding piece (15), the secondary strap (21b) comprising, in combination with the main strap to which it is connected, the first adjustment means or means of pre-adjusting the length of the strap, the said connection consisting of an adjustable connection formed by an adjustment loop (24), while the said secondary strap is connected by the free end thereof to the holding piece (15), and in that the other end thereof is engaged in the adjustment loop (24), the latter being secured to or constituting the end of the first portion (211) of the main strap, characterised in that the said secondary strap (21b) is a strap made from flexible textile.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the main strap (21a) comprises the second means or means of final adjustment of the tightening and locking strap length providing the final adjustment of the length of the strap.
  3. Device according to claim 2, characterised in that the main strap (21a) consists of two strap portions (210, 211) connected to each other by locking means of the type comprising for example a pivoting catch (22) pivotally mounted on one of the strap portions (211, or 210), intended to cooperate by incrementation with a succession of holding teeth (23) produced on the other strap portion (210, or 211).
  4. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the main strap (21a) is produced from semirigid material such as for example plastics material.
