Description

Domaine TechniqueTechnical area

The invention relates to the field of snow sports, and more specifically to that of snowboarding.

It relates more particularly to a surf binding which has advantageous arrangements at its front clamping strap.

In general, snowboarding can be practiced either with rigid shoes or with soft shoes. In the latter case, the fastener employed generally comprises a base secured to the board, and arrangements cooperating with the boot. The binding comprises a plurality of straps passing over the shoe, and tightening the latter on the base, and usually a rear gutter for receiving the supports directed rearwardly.

The majority of the bindings comprise two straps, namely a strap called "back", passing over the instep, and a strap "front" coming to tighten the front of the shoe, substantially at the level of the articulation metatarsophalangeal.

This type of fastening, called straps, does not allow the fully automatic boot, as is the case with the so-called "step-in" fasteners, compatible with stiffer shoes. However, the need is felt to facilitate the donning operations, even if it remains necessary to ensure the tightening of the straps by a manual operation.

However, in most straps, the front strap has a pivoting ability relative to a transverse axis, so as to allow its tilting from front to back. This tilting is desired to allow to adapt to the size and shape of the shoe.

Some users must also be able to slightly move the strap depending on the morphology of their feet, to optimize the tightening. This pivoting capacity of the front strap that the latter can be found folded backwards on the upper face of the base for receiving the support of the sole. This is therefore a nuisance for the user, because even before positioning his foot on the base, he must release the corresponding space by lifting the strap and spreading it.

The object of the invention is to provide a binding which leaves permanently free the upper face of the base, to allow the first phase of the boot without user intervention on any element of the binding. Another objective is to allow the pivoting of the front strap, especially until contact with the base, by a forward movement to reduce the size of the binding during transport of the board.

Exposé de l'inventionPresentation of the invention

The invention therefore relates to a snowboard binding which comprises a strap for clamping the front part. In known manner, this strap is pivotable relative to an axis substantially perpendicular to the median longitudinal plane of the fastener.

According to the invention, this attachment comprises means for limiting the pivoting of the strap relative to said axis, towards the rear, in a limit position which remains substantially the same regardless of the longitudinal position of the strap.

In other words, the invention is to prevent tilting of the strap backwards, to leave free the upper face of the base, to allow the user to have his sole in the fixation without hindrance.

In a particular embodiment, the means for limiting the pivoting of the strap are formed by an outgrowth of the end of at least one of the straps. This protrusion cooperates with a portion secured to the base, to abut against the latter when the strap is in the maximum rear pivoting position.

In practice, the characteristic means for limiting the pivoting may be present on one side of the strap, or on both sides.

In a particular embodiment, the protruding zone constitutes a region of greater average distance from the pivot point of the end of the strap. In other words, the end of the strap has a protuberance forming a bulged area which blocks, by its size, the pivoting of the strap by abutment on the base.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the attachment may also comprise means allowing the longitudinal displacement of the pivot point or points of the strap with respect to the base. Thus, the strap can not only rotate, but also translate longitudinally to vary its support shape on the shoe.

In this case, the portion of the base which forms the abutment may advantageously have an inclination substantially parallel to the direction of longitudinal displacement of the pivot point of the strap.

In other words, the support zone forming a stop and receiving the protrusion of the strap forms an inclined surface, preferably towards the front of the base, this inclination presents the same value for the different longitudinal anchoring positions of the strap on the side of the base, so that the rearward pivoting limit position remains substantially the same, regardless of the longitudinal position of the strap.

Manière de réaliser l'inventionWay of realizing the invention

As already mentioned, the invention relates to a snowboard binding, intended to accommodate so-called soft shoes.

The attachment (1) comprises, as shown in figure 1 , a base (2) whose lower face (3) intended to come into contact with the upper face of the board, directly or via a setting disc or any other complementary device. This attachment (1) has in the rear part a gutter (4) for retaining the supports from the shoe. This gutter (4) is, in the example shown, mounted hinged relative to a hoop (5). This arch also receives a strap (6) which is located substantially at the level of the instep, and which comprises a zone (7) of comfort, intended to reduce the pressure exerted by the strap (6) on the foot during the tightening the strap.

According to the invention, the attachment (1) also comprises a front strap (10) which is pivotable relative to the base (2) at a plurality of pivot points (11), located on the side and other of the base, at the level of the prominent regions (13) of this base. As already explained, this pivoting is intended to allow, on the one hand, the folding of the strap during transport, and secondly and above all, to allow to adjust the position of the upper part of the strap, and in particular the support pad (14) on the optimal zone of the upper face of the shoe.

In the illustrated form, this pivot point (11) can move longitudinally inside the light (17) provided in the lateral area (13).

Multiple architectures can be provided to ensure the displacement of these pivot points and their locking relative to the base, without departing from the scope of the invention.

According to one characteristic of the invention, and as illustrated in figure 2 , the strap (6) has at its end (20) an outgrowth (21), forming a protruding area with respect to the rest (22) of the end of the strap, which has in the illustrated form a rounded shape, forming a arc substantially in the center of the pivot point (11).

This protrusion (21) is able to cooperate with an abutment zone (25) integral with the base. This abutment (25) may be formed by a portion of the base obtained by molding, or by an insert at the inner face of the lateral zone (13) of the base.

In the form shown, this stop (25) is wedge-shaped, the upper face (26) of which is adapted to receive supports on its inner face (27) of the protuberance (21).

Thus, as illustrated in figure 3 when the strap (10) has pivoted backwards, the surface (17) of the strap is in contact with the front of the upper face of the stop (25), thereby preventing the strap (10) from pivoting further back. In practice, the rear portion of the strap is substantially vertical.

As illustrated in figure 4 , the abutment (25) may have a length sufficient to be active regardless of the longitudinal position of the pivot point (11), after translation in the light (17).

The inclination of the upper face (26) of the stop is chosen substantially parallel to the direction of the axis (18) of the light (17). In this way, the inclination of the contact zone between the strap and the stop remains substantially constant, so that the rear pivot limit position of the strap remains the same, regardless of the longitudinal position of the strap (10). .

Of course, the shape of the upper surface (26) of the stop may be adapted in the case where the light (17) is not substantially rectilinear.

As already mentioned, the characteristic device can be installed on one side of the strap or on both sides, at each of the pivoting ends of the strap.

It will be preferred to generate the abutment effect on one side in the case where it is desired to use the existing strap portions, and in particular those which comprise the locking means. On the contrary, it will be possible to have pivoting limitation means on each side of the strap in the case where it is desired to obtain the desired effect even when the two parts of the strap are disengaged, and the locking means are not engaged.

It follows from the foregoing that the binding according to the invention has the advantage of leaving the boot area free while maintaining a pivoting front strap, which facilitates the donning maneuvers.
