Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a multifunction device particularly for cleaning and ironing means.
  • ironing means such as ironing boards which comprise a flat deck, generally covered with fabric or cloth, which is supported in a lower region by a framework composed of two supporting elements, a first one of which is pivoted, at one of its ends, to the lower surface of the flat deck and a second one of which is pivoted, in its central region, to the central region of the first supporting element.
  • This conventional ironing board further comprises a rack, which is applied below the flat deck and with which it is possible to couple selectively one end of the second supporting element, so that said second supporting element provides, together with the first supporting element, a substantially X-shaped configuration so as to vary the height of the flat deck.
  • the second supporting element is disconnected from the rack, it can be folded and arranged parallel to the first supporting element, and therefore to the deck, so as to fold the entire ironing board, which accordingly is compact and can be stored even in a small space.
  • Ironing means capable of spraying steam, generated in an appropriately provided boiler, directly onto the items to be ironed in order to facilitate and improve the ironing process have become widespread in recent years also for domestic use; these conventional devices are generally kept on tables provided with horizontal shelves or on appropriately provided shelves rigidly coupled to the ironing board.
  • devices for use in combination with ironing means which also comprise suction or blower means that are suitable to facilitate disposal of the steam generated by the ironing means.
  • Cleaning devices are instead currently known, among others, to clean floors or large surfaces and are composed of a boiler for generating steam, which can be mounted for example on wheels in order to make it easier to move, and of steam diffusion means, provided for example by means of a flexible hose, which is connected at one of its ends to the boiler, and one or more optionally interchangeable nozzles, which are associable with the opposite end of the hose and by means of which the steam thus generated can be directed towards the regions to be cleaned.
  • a boiler for generating steam which can be mounted for example on wheels in order to make it easier to move
  • steam diffusion means provided for example by means of a flexible hose, which is connected at one of its ends to the boiler, and one or more optionally interchangeable nozzles, which are associable with the opposite end of the hose and by means of which the steam thus generated can be directed towards the regions to be cleaned.
  • the boiler may optionally be refilled automatically, so as to ensure long stand-alone operation.
  • a multifunction cleaning device which, in addition to comprising a boiler to which a flexible hose that supports interchangeable nozzles is connected and operates in a manner similar to the one described above, comprises means for aspirating dust and liquids, which are conveyed through said flexible hose into appropriate separate tanks that can be emptied.
  • the aim of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned problems, eliminating the drawbacks of the cited background art, by providing a device that allows the user to have various ironing and cleaning means rapidly and easily available.
  • an object of the present invention is to provide a device that also allows, in addition to quick and easy execution of ironing and cleaning operations, an equally easy change of the type of operation.
  • Another object of the invention is to allow easy transport of the ironing and cleaning means even in the presence of obstacles.
  • Another object of the invention is to allow to store it easily and quickly in the inactive condition, further occupying a reduced amount of space.
  • Another object is to provide a device that is structurally simple and has low manufacturing costs.
  • a multifunction device particularly for cleaning and ironing means characterized in that it comprises a wheel-mounted folding stand, with which a first vertical support for cleaning accessories is associated, and from which a first pole protrudes, an ironing board being rotatably connected to said first pole, said board being provided with means for locking its position, and a supporting base for cleaning and/or ironing means, a second pole being associated telescopically with said first pole, a second horizontal support for an ironing means and at least one clothes stand being associated rotatably with said second pole.
  • the reference numeral 1 designates a multifunction device, particularly for cleaning and ironing means, which comprises a folding stand 2, which is composed of a central body 3, which has a substantially tubular shape and at right angles to which a first foot 4 protrudes, which is arranged proximate to the central region of the central body 3.

  • a connecting element 12 is pivoted in an approximately intermediate position between the containment body 6 and the first end 7a of the central body, and a fourth foot 13 is rigidly coupled to one end of the connecting element; the fourth foot is also tubular and supports, at a free end, a third wheel 14 made of plastics, the rotation axis of which coincides with the rotation axis of the fourth foot 13.
  • the end of the connecting element 12 that supports the fourth foot protrudes outside the central body 3 on the opposite side with respect to the one on which the first foot 4 is provided, so that the rotation of the fourth foot 13, which occurs on the same plane that contains the first, second and third feet and the central body, allows the fourth foot to pass from a first position, also known as closure position, in which it is parallel to the central body 3 and adjacent thereto, to a second position, also known as active position, in which the fourth foot 13 is arranged at right angles with respect to the central body 3 and proximate to its first end 7a, and vice versa.

  • the opening mechanism 15 determines uniquely the relative angular positions of the second, third and fourth feet, so that a rotation of any one of the feet is matched by a specific rotation of the other feet.
  • the opening mechanism 15 can be sized so that when the fourth foot 13 is in the active position and therefore rotated through approximately 90° with respect to the closure position, the second foot 8 and the third foot 9 are each rotated through an angle comprised between approximately 40° and approximately 60° with respect to the first foot 4, directing their respective free ends toward the outside of the stand 2.

  • the presence of the wheels and of the first eccentric plug causes an upward movement of the tubular elements that constitute the first body and the first, second, third and fourth feet, forming a space inside which it is possible to contain the opening mechanism 15.
  • a fifth foot 20 is rigidly connected to the central body 3 proximate to its first end 7a, protrudes parallel to the central body 3 from the same side on which the fourth foot 13 is provided, and supports a fourth wheel 21, the rotation axis of which coincides with the rotation axis of the third wheel 14 when the fourth foot 13 is in the closure position.

  • the selector 365 for locking the ironing board 328 in the two closure and active positions is constituted by a preferably cylindrical sleeve 392, which has at one of its ends a face 392a that is inclined by a chosen angle with respect to a plane that lies transversely to a longitudinal axis thereof.
  • a cylindrical through guide 393 is formed axially with respect to said sleeve, and a seventh cylindrical pivot 395 can slide inside it in contrast with an elastically deformable element 394, which is constituted for example by a spring; said seventh pivot advantageously has a diameter that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the guide 393, so that it can perform an axial translational motion and rotate inside it.
  • a first end 395a of the seventh pivot 395 protrudes from the guide 393 at the inclined face 392a of the sleeve 392.
  • a handle 395b is rigidly coupled to the seventh pivot 395 at the first end 395a, protrudes approximately at right angles from said seventh pivot, and abuts along part of its lateral surface against the inclined face 392a of the sleeve 392.
  • the sleeve 392 is inserted within a through hole formed in the guiding body 330, which is arranged approximately horizontally and at right angles to the ironing board 328 and is nondetachably coupled to said guiding body, with its inclined face 392a directed away from the ironing board 328.
  • the guide 393 passes through the guiding element 330, so that the seventh pivot 395 can protrude from the guiding element toward the ironing board 328 at its second end 395c, which lies opposite the one that supports the handle 395b.
  • a receptacle 396 preferably having a circular cross-section, for detachably accommodating the second end 395c of the seventh pivot 395 is formed advantageously on the supporting framework 332 at the guide 393 when the ironing board 328 is arranged horizontally.
  • the multifunction device 401 has a second horizontal support 448 that is pivoted at the rear edge of the ironing board 428 and is connected proximate to its free end to the guiding body 430 by means of a seventh lever 497, which is rotatably associated, at its opposite ends, with the second horizontal support and the guiding body.
  • a sleeve ironing accessory 443 may protrude upward at the free end of the second horizontal support 448.
  • the operation of the multifunction device 1 entails that in the closure configuration shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, which can be provided when the device is not used for ironing, the stand 2 is fully folded, the second and third feet being arranged parallel to the first foot 4, the fourth foot 13 being arranged parallel and contiguous to the central body 3, so as to also provide a stable support for said multifunction device.
  • the ironing board 28 is arranged vertically, while the second pole 47 is partially retracted inside the first pole 27, so that the second horizontal support 48, for supporting the ironing means, as well as the bar 49a of the clothes stand 49, are laterally adjacent to the ironing board, just above the supporting element 40 and proximate to the suction and blower unit 41.
  • the device according to the invention in this configuration, can be transported easily, since the third wheel 14 and the fourth wheel 21 are arranged on the same side of the stand 2 and can rotate about parallel axes of rotation, so that it is sufficient to make the device turn slightly about the axis of said third and fourth wheels in order to raise the first and second wheels from the ground.
  • the device 1 thus inclined can therefore be moved easily, thanks to the rotation of the third and fourth wheels.
  • the device can also easily cope with steps and stairs, thanks to the rotation of said rotating units, which allows the presence of at least one wheel on each one of two consecutive steps.
  • Connection and coupling cables which are part of cleaning and/or ironing means arranged on the supporting base 44, can be wound around the first and second cable tensioning elements, which are provided on the second tab 30b of the guiding body 30.
  • the multifunction device 1 can be opened by acting on any one of the second, third or fourth feet, since the opening mechanism 15 determines uniquely the mutual positions that can be assumed by the feet, so that the action applied to one of them is transmitted to the other two.
  • This opening mechanism is sized so that in the fully open position the stand 2 has the fourth foot 13 at right angles to the central body 3, while the second foot 8 and the third foot 9 are each rotated through an angle comprised between approximately 40° and approximately 60° with respect to the first foot 4, orientating their respective free ends toward the outside of the stand 2.
  • the first wheel 10, the second wheel 11 and the third wheel 14, which are pivoted respectively to the free ends of the second foot 8, of the third foot 9 and of the fourth foot 13, allow their easy rotation about the respective points for pivoting to the central body 3, avoiding their sliding on the ground.
  • a rotation imparted to the fourth foot 213 about the sixth pivot 288 so as to move the free end away from the central body 203 causes, by the action of the second set of teeth on the first set of teeth, which mutually mesh, a rotation of the second foot 208 about the fifth pivot 285.
  • the direction of rotation of the fourth foot 213 is clockwise
  • the direction of rotation of the second foot 208 is counterclockwise and in any case matches the direction in which the folding stand 202 opens, and vice versa.
  • a rotation imparted to the second foot 208 causes a rotation of the fourth foot 213, again in the direction in which the stand 202 opens.
  • the rotation of the fourth foot 213 simultaneously causes, by means of the fifth and sixth levers 290 and 291, a rotation of the arm 246 and of the supporting base 244, which accordingly, when the stand is in the fully open position, lies approximately parallel to the central body 203.
  • the ironing board 28 can be arranged easily in the horizontal position by rotating it through approximately 90° about the first pivot 31 of the pivoting means 29, while the second spring 37 of the position locking means 36 determines its height from the ground.
  • the device comprises a selector 365 provided according to the embodiment 301, in order to turn the ironing board it is necessary to disengage it by rotating the handle 395b, which by abutting against the inclined face 392a of the sleeve 392 forces an axial translational motion of the seventh pivot 395 away from the ironing board; the seventh pivot 395 thus retracts from the seat 396, leaving the ironing board free to rotate.
  • the ironing board is locked by applying to the handle 395b an identical and opposite rotation, so that the seventh pivot 395 can engage the receptacle 396, preventing any rotation of the ironing board.
  • the height of the ironing board from the ground is adjusted by forcing, by means of the crank 159, a rotation of the sprocket 156, the second teeth of which, by entering the slots 155 formed in the first pole, or by meshing with the first teeth of the rack, force a vertical translational motion of said ironing board.
  • the sprocket can be locked by acting on the sixth lever 160, so that the ironing board does not fall due to its own weight.
  • the second pole 47 can then be extracted telescopically in an upper region from the first pole 27 and can be arranged at the intended height so that the second horizontal support 48 for an ironing means is arranged in the most comfortable position for the user, like the clothes stand 49, optionally by rotating about the second pole 47.
  • the second pole 47 is long enough to allow, in the position of maximum extraction from the first pole 27, to arrange the second horizontal support and the ironing means supported by said support beyond the reach of children, so as to reduce the risk of domestic accidents.
  • the clothes stand 49 advantageously can be used as a support, which is arranged approximately at the same height as the ironing board, in order to facilitate the ironing of large items, such as sheets or curtains, which are thus supported also outside the surface of said ironing board.
  • the second horizontal support 48 can be disengaged from the second pole, for example by sliding it off the end of said second pole after removing the clothes stand 49, in order to be positioned at the second end 42b of the support 42, with respect to which it can rotate, if said arrangement is more convenient to the user.
  • the second horizontal support 448 retains its horizontal arrangement even when the ironing board is turned and moved into a vertical position, thanks to the presence of the seventh lever 497, which supports its free end, thus ensuring the stability of the accessories arranged on it.
  • the sleeve ironing accessory is equally adjustable by means of a rotation about the first end 42a of the support 42 and can be positioned at the upper surface of the ironing board if it is necessary to use it, and can be rotated so that it lies parallel to the base of the ironing board and outside it if a larger ironing surface and greater freedom of movement are needed.
  • a conventional ironing and cleaning means 61 can be arranged on the supporting base 44 and can be constituted for example by a pressurized boiler for generating steam and by an aspirator for liquids and dust, which can be stored in two separate tanks that can be emptied.
  • the steam generated by said boiler can be used to supply steam ironing means in combination with the suction and blower unit provided below the ironing board, so as to allow high-quality and very easy ironing.
  • the multifunction device 1 allows a use that is aimed at home or professional cleaning, by associating with the cleaning and ironing means 61 the cleaning accessories arranged on the first vertical support 22.
  • the configuration described so far of the multifunction device according to the invention further allows a plurality of users to use simultaneously the cleaning and ironing means that it supports, in order to perform simultaneously ironing and cleaning operations, thus ensuring a very high productivity.
  • Another object that is achieved by the invention is to allow easy cleaning and ironing, further allowing quick and easy changing of the type of operation.
  • Another object that is achieved is to allow quick and easy storage of the multifunction device in the inactive condition, so as to occupy a very limited space.
  • Another object that is achieved is to ensure very easy transport of the ironing and cleaning means even in the presence of obstacles such as stairs.
  • Another object that has been achieved is the possibility for a plurality of users to use simultaneously the device according to the invention, allowing to achieve high efficiency.
