Definitions
- the invention relates to an ice ax for mountaineering comprising a head, a handle, an anatomical grip with a free end and a end integral with the handle, and delimiting a grip zone of length L of the ice ax, delimited by a tip arranged at the end free of the grip handle, and by a protrusion of the handle to its end integral with the handle, the gripping handle comprising means for adjusting the length L of the grip zone.
- Ice axes used by mountaineers are safety tools for climbing slopes of ice or very hard snow.
- An ice ax usually has a head supporting a breakdown or a hammer and an anchor, and a hollow handle, in which is fitted the head.
- the anchor pike elongated blade shape is intended to penetrate the ice to ensure a effective anchorage allowing traction on the handle.
- the spades and the breakdown are usually interchangeable elements with shapes and different sizes so that the mountaineer can have the most suitable ice ax on the ground. Holding the handle in the mountaineer's hand is a factor essential for the penetration of the spades into the ice.
- the mountaineer usually holds the end of the handle to have the most striking torque important for an optimum penetration force of the spades in the ice cream. It is imperative that at the moment of the collision with the ice, the climber does not let go not the handle.
- the FR-A-2709971 discloses an anatomical grip formed on the handle opposite the ice ax head.
- the grip handle typically has a profile corresponding to the average hand of a mountaineer.
- the grip of the ice ax is not always effective because the size of the mountaineer's hand may vary depending on whether he wears fine gloves or thick, or not wearing gloves at all.
- the ice ax does not fit not according to the morphology of prehension of the mountaineer.
- taking hand is not necessarily the same depending on the intended use (ice slopes or slopes of very hard snow).
- poorly adapted handling reduces the efficiency of the strike and increases the risk of falling.
- the object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to make an ice ax for mountaineering having an adjusting tip, whose grip is improved, depending on the climbing morphology of mountaineering and the intended use.
- this object is achieved by the fact that the adjusting endpiece is mounted pivoting on the handle.
- the adjustment tip is rotated about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the handle grip.
- the handle comprises a plurality of orifices corresponding to different positions of the adjusting tip, the ice ax comprising a blocking element intended to be introduced into one of the orifices and to hold the adjusting end in one of the said positions.
- the free end of the handle of gripping comprises a plurality of notches corresponding to different positions of the adjusting tip, the adjusting tip having a plurality grooves cooperating with the notches of the free end so as to maintain the adjustment tip in one of said positions.
- an ice ax 1 for mountaineering consists of a head 2 equipped a fastening tip 3 fitted in a handle 4, preferably in hollow tube shape.
- the cross section of the tip 3 is non-circular, for example oval or elliptical, so as to ensure the anti-rotation of the head 2 in the handle 4.
- a first end 5 of the head 2 carries a hammer struck Removable way by a screw 6. It is possible to replace the hammer of hit by a failure (not shown).
- a second end 7 of the head 2, opposite the end 5, serves as a support at a spike 8 constituted by an interchangeable metal blade.
- the spades 8 is preferably made of high strength steel, and comprises a blade 9 fitted along the lower edge of a series of teeth 10 gripper, to obtain an optimum anchoring effect of the spike 8 in ice or hard snow.
- the fixing of the spike 8 on the head 2 is operated by screw connection means 11 and 12.
- the length of the handle 4 depends on the size of the mountaineer, and the shape of the sleeve 4 is preferably curved for better adaptation to the ground.
- the lower end of the handle 4 is equipped with a handle 13 having an anatomical shape.
- the handle 13 is made of a material synthetic or elastomer-based plastic and over-molded on a skeleton 14, of flat section, preferably made of aluminum alloy.
- the handle 13 has a fixing end 15 fitted in the handle 4 and a free end 16.
- the handle 13 also comprises adjustment means 17 for adjusting the size of the handle 13 at the height of the mountaineer's hand.
- the Adjustment means 17 comprise a pivoting adjustment piece 18.
- a grip zone 19 is delimited by the handle 13.
- grip zone 19, of length L, is located between the adjusting tip 18 and a protrusion 20 of the handle 13 at the fixing end 15 preferably integral with the handle 4.
- the adjusting endpiece 18 and the protuberance 20 protrude outside the handle 13 and are shaped in brackets, preferably oriented towards the head 2 of the ice ax 1. These hooks provide the mountaineer with an additional opportunity to seize the handle 13.
- the adjustment nozzle 18 is mounted free to rotate, only in adjustment phase, about an axis 21 perpendicular to the axis longitudinal direction of the gripping handle 13.
- the gripping handle 13 has a plurality of orifices 22 arranged transversely and correspondingly to different positions that can take the adjusting tip 18.
- the ice ax 1 also comprises a blocking element 23 intended to be introduced into one holes and to hold the adjusting tip 18 in a determined position by the mountaineer.
- the adjusting endpiece 18 has a tongue 24 with a hole of a diameter similar to that of the orifices 22 of the handle 13.
- the locking element 23 is then introduced when the two orifices are vis-à-vis.
- the locking element 23 is advantageously a screw-nut system, to obtain an effective type of blocking of the adjustment tip 18 on the gripping handle 13. Any other type of blocking can, of course, to be used.
- Position A representing the first end position of the adjusting tip 18, is obtained when the tongue 24 of the adjusting tip 18 is positioned on one of the orifices 22, the closest to the grip zone 19.
- the blocking element 23 ensures the final locking of the two pieces 13 and 18, by inserting a screw through the two orifices, and squeezing together with a nut.
- the design of the handle 13 and of the adjustment nozzle 18 induces a length L1 of the order of 114 mm (FIG. 2).
- Position B which is the second end position opposite to the position A, is obtained after loosening of the blocking element 23 and rotation of the adjusting tip 18 about its axis 21.
- the orifice of the tongue 24 next to the orifice 22 of the handle 13, furthest from the zone of The final locking of the two pieces 13 and 18 is carried out the same way as for position A, using blocking element 23.
- the second length L2 of the gripping zone 19 preferably, the length L2 is of the order of 92.1 mm ( Figure 3).
- the head 2, as well as the handle 4 and the skeleton 14 of the handle 13 are advantageously made of aluminum alloy. Overmolding of the material plastic handle 13 allows for the average clasp of a mountaineer, for example of the order of 90mm.
- the ice ax 1 is suitable for all types of grip and any type of use because the presence of the adjustment means 17 makes it possible to take optimum hand of the ice ax 1.
- the adjustment means 17 are not limited to the embodiment described above.
- the handle 13 may, for example, comprise complementary adjustment means making it possible to move the pivot axis of the adjusting nozzle 18.
- an oblong hole may be made in the gripping handle 13 or in the adjusting tip 18.
- the axis of rotation 21 of the adjustment nozzle 18 can thus take several positions to optimize the grip of the mountaineer.
- the blocking element 23 remain, for example, a screw-nut system, or any other locking means.
- the handle of 13 differs from the previous embodiment by the means of 17.
- the adjustment nozzle 18 is rotatably mounted only in adjustment phase, around the axis of rotation 21.
- the free end 16 of the gripping handle 13 has a plurality of notches 25, corresponding different positions that can take the adjusting tip 18.
- the tip of adjustment 18 has a plurality of grooves 26 cooperating with the notches 25 of the free end 16 to place the adjusting tip 18 in a position predetermined. The position of the notches 25 and grooves 26 can of course to be reversed.
- Position A representing the first end position of the adjusting end-piece 18 is obtained, after loosening the axis of rotation 21, when the grooves 26 of the adjustment nozzle 18 are positioned at the level notches 25 of the free end 16 farthest from the end fitted 15. The notches 25 of the free end 16 closest to the end 15 are then not used.
- the axis of rotation 21 ensures the final locking of the two parts 13 and 18 via, for example, example, of a nut. This gives the first length L1, corresponding to the maximum length of the grip zone 19.
- Position B (FIG. 6), which is the second end position opposite to the position A, is obtained after loosening the axis of rotation 21, rotation of the adjusting tip 18 about the axis 21 and positioning the grooves 26 of the adjusting end 18 facing the notches 25 of the free end 16 of the handle 13.
- the grooves 26 of the mouthpiece setting 18 are positioned in the notches 25 of the free end 16 the most close to the end fitted 15.
- the notches 25 of the free end 16 further away from the fitted end 15 are then not used.
- the final locking of both pieces 13 and 18 is ensured in the same way as for the position A, using the axis of rotation 21. This gives the second length L2, corresponding to the minimum length of the grip zone 19.
