Um den Einbau derartiger Handläufe bzw. die Nachrüstung zu erleichtern, werden daher bereits flexible Handlaufsysteme angeboten, die aus Einzelelementen zusammengestellt und schnell und problemlos montiert werden können. So kann z.B. ein Handlauf aus Holz-, Kunststoff- oder Metallrohren zusammengestellt werden, die besonders an Ecken oder Übergängen durch spezielle Übergangs- oder Zwischenstücke miteinander verbunden werden. Hierzu müssen z.B. als Kugelgelenk oder Rundung ausgebildete Zwischenstücke an den geraden Abschnitten befestigt werden. Auch am Anfang und Ende des Handlaufs müssen geeignete Abschlusselemente vorgesehen sein. Ein weiterer Vorteil der erfindungsgemäßen Ausführung liegt darin, dass eine automatische Ausrichtung der Befestigungselemente bei deren Einsatz in das Rohrende erfolgt. Die beiden Führungsscheiben, deren Außendurchmesser nur geringfügig kleiner als der Innendurchmesser der Rohre ist, sorgen dafür, dass das Befestigungselement beim Einstecken in das Rohrende nicht zur Seite kippen kann, so dass die mittige Gewindebohrung auch immer koaxial zum Rohr ausgerichtet ist.
