Wie Fig. 3 zeigt ist die Tragplatte 1 mittig mit einer in ihrer Längsrichtung verlaufenden Ausnehmung 3 versehen. Die die Ausnehmung 3 in Längsrichtung begrenzenden und zueinander parallel ausgerichteten Kanten sind jeweils mit einer Verzahnung 4 versehen. Die Länge der Ausnehmung 3 bzw. der Verzahnungen 4 bestimmt den möglichen Verstellbereich der Tragplatte 1 und damit des Vorderbackens bzw. des Fersenhalters gegenüber dem Ski zur Anpassung der beiden Skibindungsteile an unterschiedlich lange Skischuhe. In die Verbindungsplatte 8 ist mittig ein längliches Befestigungsteil 10, beispielsweise von unten her, eingelegt. An seinem dem Skiende zugewandten Endbereich der Führungsplatte 5 ist der Schieber 16 von außen her über ein Betätigungsteil 17 von Hand aus oder mittels eines Werkzeuges ergreifbar. Nicht gezeigte Anschläge begrenzen den Schiebeweg des Schiebers 16. Wie insbesondere die Schnittzeichnung in Fig. 5 zeigt, weist der Schieber 16 im Längsschnitt trapezförmigen Erhebungen 16a auf, die durch trapezförmige Vertiefungen 16b voneinander getrennt sind. Durch eine entsprechende Abstimmung der Dimensionen der beteiligten Bauteile gelangt dabei der Bolzen 18 in den Bereich einer der Erweiterungen 15 der Ausnehmung 14. In dieser Position ist lediglich darauf zu achten, dass der Schieber 16 derart positioniert ist, dass der Bolzen 18 jeweils im Bereich einer Vertiefung 16b des Schiebers 16 zum Liegen kommt. Nun werden die beiden Bindungsbacken mittels ihrer Tragplatten 1 auf die Führungsplatten 5, 6 aufgeschoben. Sobald der gewünschte gegenseitige Abstand der beiden Bindungsbacken eingestellt ist, erfolgt eine Festlegung der gegenseitigen Lage der Bindungsbacken, indem die Rastelemente 19 mit den Verzahnungen 4 der Tragplatten 1 in Eingriff gebracht werden.
