Definitions
- the invention relates to a sink, preferably made of stainless steel, with an essentially horizontal surface area in the installed state and a recess integrally formed therein.
- a sink is usually used in kitchens or laboratories, the sink with its integrally formed recess being inserted into the cutout of a kitchen or worktop.
- Various fixing means are known for fastening the sink in a support.
- folds are provided on the underside of the sink, in which claws and screwing means engage.
- the sink is attached using the try-and-error principle, as access to the fixation means is in an area below the support.
- a check whether the sink actually occupies a desired position can only be done by visual inspection from a position above the support.
- Accessibility to the fixing means is particularly problematic in the area of the flushing fittings.
- the sink and support are only joined at certain points using the fixing means mentioned, which can lead to deformation of the metal sheet of the sink, in particular the corrugated surface.
- a clip system is also known in which the sink and the support are joined together with the aid of clips.
- the problem here is that a particularly precise fit must be observed when producing the cutout in the support and when assembling the components of the clips.
- liquid adhesive is provided in an area between the underside of a surface area of the sink and the support. After inserting the sink in the support, it is necessary to press the sink against the support, since the pressure generated by the sink's own weight is insufficient. It is problematic that the final position of the liquid adhesive cannot be predetermined, so that the liquid adhesive can emerge in regions from the edge region of the sink into a visible area.
- the assembly means should also be inexpensive and easy to manufacture.
- the sink has the following features:
- an adhesive is provided which connects the surface area to a support;
- flexible spacers are provided, at least in sections, which keep the surface area of the sink and the support at a distance without being pressed by an operator and without contact between the adhesive and the support, and whose flexibility allows horizontal displacement of the Allows sink to be adjusted within the support and which can be compressed by an operator when pressed so that adhesive and support come into adhesive contact.
- the flexible spacers are partially compressed due to the sink's own weight and allow the sink to be moved horizontally for adjustment within the support.
- This adjustment process can go hand in hand with a deformation of the flexible spacers as well as with a relative change in position between the standing surface of the spacers and the support.
- Alignment is particularly convenient because the sink's own weight is absorbed by the spacers and the support and a technician can bring the sink into a desired position, whereby the visual check whether the sink actually occupies a desired position can be carried out without that the fitter has to change between layers below and exactly above the support.
- a perfect alignment of the sink in the cutout of the support is also possible if the cutout deviates slightly from a target shape. Only when the sink is in a desired position, the adhesive and the support are brought into adhesive contact by pressing the sink. For this purpose, the spacers are compressed against their restoring force.
- an elastic sealing lip is provided along the edge region of the underside of the sink, which, after the adhesive process, lies on the support in a sealing manner due to its inherent tension.
- a sealing lip prevents contamination of the gap between the sink and kitchen or worktop, as well as the entry of media, for example washing water, into the area that is occupied between the underside of the surface area of the sink and the support.
- at least two components of the spacer, adhesive and sealing lip are integrated in one component.
- manufacturing and storage costs are reduced, and the handling effort required for the application of the limp parts to the sink is reduced.
- the components or the component integrating the components can be applied both directly at the installation location of the sink and externally, for example at the production location of the sink.
- the component for integrating at least two components of the spacer, adhesive and sealing lip is advantageously designed as a profile strand. This enables easy handling, both when applying manually by a fitter and when the profile strand is applied by an automatic machine.
- a variant of the invention provides that the spacer serves as a seal after the gluing process.
- the spacer is provided in the edge area of the underside of the sink, which serves as an assembly aid during the assembly process and, after the gluing process, as a seal which prevents media from entering the area formed between the underside of the surface area of the sink and the support becomes.
- the spacer is advantageously formed from an elastomer or a plastic foam.
- these materials act as a spring, which is compressed depending on an external compressive force. Similar to a spring, the restoring forces of these materials depend on their hysteresis properties. Either rubber-like materials made of natural or synthetic rubber or soft or hard plastic foams can be used. When using spacers made of rubber or soft plastic foam, this is compressed in a first step by the weight of the sink and in a second step by the assembly force applied.
- the properties of the material from which the spacer is made are selected such that the initially undeformed spacer is only partially compressed after the sink has been inserted into a plate.
- the material from which the spacer is made must have such a high resistance to the compression caused by the weight of the sink that the spacer distances the sink from the support to such an extent that the adhesive does not yet come into contact with the support.
- the spacer material must also be selected in such a way that it is soft enough that, after aligning the sink in the cutout of the support, further compression of the flexible spacer is possible, which is carried out by a technician pressing the sink manually.
- the spacer material must on the one hand be sufficiently firm to prevent undesired, premature contact between the adhesive and the support surface and on the other hand be sufficiently soft to be able to press the sink against the restoring force of the flexible spacers on the support surface in order to ensure adhesive contact between the adhesive and the support surface manufacture. The force required for this must not exceed the force that can be exerted by supporting a mechanic's upper body.
- the spacers described so far are reusable in principle.
- the sink is first carried by the spacers after being inserted into the cutout, and these are deformed and possibly destroyed after application of an assembly force.
- the spacing means for a further assembly process.
- the spacer can also be formed by elements which are movable relative to one another. These elements are designed, for example, as a clip and are provided on the underside of the surface area of the sink.
- the clips consist, for example, of a centrally guided pin and a locking means surrounding this pin.
- the pin and locking means are designed in such a way that a contact between the adhesive and the support is only created by applying an assembly force.
- the adhesive is advantageously designed as a contact adhesive in the form of an adhesive strip or tape or an adhesive cord.
- the adhesive can be applied both in liquid form, for example using an adhesive gun, and in solid form, for example in the form of an adhesive tape. It has been found that the use of so-called mirror adhesive tape is particularly suitable for the present use.
- adhesive strips which at least partially consist of a tough-elastic material, for example an elastomer, and which have at least one pull tab.
- the pull tab is arranged on the side facing the cutout of a support in which the sink is inserted and serves as a dismantling handle. By pulling on the pull tab, the adhesive strip can be pulled out gradually to dismantle the sink.
- means are provided for a possible disassembly to separate the adhesive into two adhesive areas, with a first adhesive area being connected to the surface area of the sink and a second adhesive area to the support after the separation.
- the separating means is advantageously designed as a wire which is located at a distal end of the profile of the adhesive layer and runs along the circumference of the sink. The wire extends beyond the adhesive layer at one point and has a grip, for example a loop, at its end. This loop can be used to tear out the wire and cut the adhesive tape along the entire circumference of the sink.
- the separating means can also be designed as a clip.
- the adhesive consists of two layers, one layer being provided on the underside of the surface area of the sink and the second layer on the support.
- the invention also relates to a method for installing a sink, preferably made of stainless steel, with an essentially horizontal surface area in the installed state and a recess integrally formed therein, in a plate with a cutout, characterized by the following method steps:
- FIG. 1 shows a sectional view of a sink in a pre-assembled state
- FIG. 3 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 1 of a sink in a second embodiment of the invention
- FIG. 4 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 2 of a sink in a second embodiment of the invention
- FIG. 5 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 1 in a third embodiment of the invention
- FIG. 6 shows a detail X from FIG. 5,
- FIG. 7 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 2 in a third embodiment of the invention.
- FIG. 8 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 1 in a fourth embodiment of the invention
- FIG. 9 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 2 in a fourth embodiment of the invention
- FIG. 10 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 9 of a sink in a disassembled state.
- Figure 1 shows a section of a sink 1 with an integral recess area 2, a surface area 4 and an edge ⁇ .
- the sink 1 is inserted with its recess area 2 into a plate 8 with a cutout 10.
- An adhesive in the form of an adhesive strip 12 is provided on the underside of the surface area 4 of the sink 1.
- the adhesive strip consists of an adhesive tape which has an essentially rectangular cross section and which is glued on one side to the underside of the surface area 4 of the sink 1 and on the opposite side has an adhesive side facing a support surface 18 of the plate 8, through which a connection of sink 1 and plate 8 can be done.
- a spacer 14 is also provided along the underside of the surface area 4 of the sink 1, which has a substantially square cross section.
- the spacer 14 consists of foam material and is connected at one end to the underside of the surface area 4 of the sink 1, for example by gluing.
- the spacer 14 lies in a contact area 16 on the contact surface 18 of the plate 8.
- the adhesive strip 12 is in 'a region 20 over the edge 6 of the sink 1 addition. This projection dimension 20 is the extent to which the adhesive strip 12 extends in a side view downward over the edge 6 of the sink 1.
- a distance 22 is provided between the adhesive 12 and the support surface 18 of the plate 8. This distance 22 prevents contact between the adhesive strip 12 and the contact surface 18. It is important that the sink 1 can be moved in this state of preassembly within the cutout 10 of the plate 8 in a plane A parallel to the plate until the sink 1 assumes a desired position. This means that an exact adjustment of the sink 1 within the cutout 10 of the plate 8 can be achieved without problems.
- Figure 2 shows a sink 1, which is inserted into a plate 8 with a cutout 10. An assembly force is applied in direction B to press the sink 1 in the direction of the support surface 18 of the plate 8.
- This force is exerted by a fitter placing his hands on the surface area 4 of the sink 1, supporting himself and thus exerting a force in direction B by transferring the weight of the fitter to the surface area 4 of the sink 1.
- the spacer 14, which has already been partially compressed by the weight of the sink is compressed even more until the adhesive strip 12 first makes adhesive contact with the side facing the support surface 18 and is compressed in turn until the edge 6 of the sink 1 comes into contact 24 with the support surface 18 is coming.
- the adhesive strip 12 connects the surface area 4 of the sink 1 to the support area 18 of the plate 8 and makes an adhesive contact with the support surface 18 in an area 26.
- the adhesive strip 12 is pressed together by pressing the sink 1 in the direction of the plate 8 by its projection dimension 20 until the edge 6 of the sink 1 comes into contact 24 with the contact surface 18 of the plate 8.
- the spacer 14 is also compressed in such a way that it is accommodated in a free space 28 which is formed by the edge 6 and the surface area 4 of the sink 1.
- FIG. 3 shows an exemplary embodiment of the invention in which the adhesive 12 and the flexible spacer 14 are integrated in one component.
- the adhesive 12 has an adhesive surface 30 and is connected to the spacer 14 via a connection area 32.
- the connection area 32 has a recess 34. This recess serves to receive a part of the deformed material of the spacer 14, which is received in the free space 28 after the application of the assembly force B, as shown in FIG. Figure 5 shows a further embodiment of an adhesive 12 and a spacer, which consists of a pin 36 with a thickening 38 which bears against locking means 40, which form the free space 42.
- the pin 36 is in a support point 44 on the support surface 18 and can be moved in a plane A parallel to the plate 8 on the support surface 18, so that before pressing the sink and adhesive contact of the adhesive 12 with the support surface 18 of the plate 8 a shift and Adjustment of the sink 1 in the cutout 10 of the plate 8 is made possible.
- the pin 36 is shown in detail in cross section in FIG. 6 and has a thickening 38 in an upper region.
- the latching means 40 rest on the thickening in a downwardly inclined support area 39.
- the latching means 40 consist of flexible material, for example of a relatively soft thermoplastic, and form two movable arms 40a and 40b. The arms 40a and 40b can be moved in the direction C or C away from the thickening 38 of the pin.
- the pin 36 with its thickening 38 is brought into the free space 42 of the latching means 40 by the arms 40a and 40b being deformed in the direction C and C.
- the application of the vertically directed force B creates an outwardly directed force in the direction C or C in the downwardly inclined support region 39 between the thickening 38 of the pin 36 and the arms 40a or 40b of the latching means 40, as a result of which the arms 40a or 40b can be deflected and the pin 36 can slide into the free space 42 of the locking means 40.
- FIG. 8 shows a special embodiment of the adhesive 12.
- the adhesive 12 consists of two parts 12a and 12b, the part 12a being adhesively connected to the underside of the surface area 4 and the part 12b in the state shown in FIG. 8 is connected to the part 12a via a connection area 13.
- the connection area 13 has mutually encompassing surveys.
- the part 12b has an adhesive surface 30 on the side facing the support surface 18.
- the assembly of the sink 1 in the cutout 10 of the plate 8 takes place, as shown above for other designs according to the invention, by applying the assembly force in direction B (see FIG. 9).
- the adhesive surface 30 comes into contact with the support surface 18, thus the sink 1 and the support surface 18 of the plate 8 are connected to one another via the part 12a, the connecting region 13, the part 12b and the adhesive surface 30.
- any disassembly that may need to be carried out can be carried out easily (see FIG. 10).
- a disassembly force D for example by lifting the integral recess area 2
- the parts 12a and 12b of the adhesive 12 are separated from one another.
- the part 12a remains on the underside of the surface area 4 of the sink 1.
- the part 12b remains on the support surface 18 of the plate 8.
- the connection area 13 is separated into an area 13a of the part 12a and an area 13b of the part 12b.
- the sink 1 can thus be removed from the cutout 10 of the plate 8. If a renewed assembly of the same sink 1 is desired, this can easily be done by inserting the sink 1 into the cutout 10 of the plate 8.
- the connection between the sink 1 and the plate 8 is then achieved by the interlocking of the areas 13a and 13b of the parts 12a and 12b, whereby the connection area 13 is formed.
