Definitions
- the invention is based on a device for receiving traffic reports according to the preamble of the independent claim.
- Devices for receiving traffic reports are known, for example, in the form of car radio devices, moreover in the form of vehicle navigation systems, which have a receiver for broadcast signals and a decoder for the evaluation of traffic reports contained in the broadcast signals.
- traffic announcements are specified for example by means of the so-called Radio Data System (RDS), as for example specified in European Standard EN 50 067, in the form of traffic message channel (TMC) traffic reports, as in International Standards ISO 14819-1, -2 , -3 specified, broadcast by broadcasters in the broadcasting area of the Federal Republic of Germany.
- RDS Radio Data System
- TMC traffic message channel
- the received traffic reports can be used in a vehicle navigation system for the realization of a so-called dynamic route guidance, ie for the calculation of a route in consideration of traffic disturbances represented by the traffic reports.
- dynamic route guidance ie for the calculation of a route in consideration of traffic disturbances represented by the traffic reports.
- the transit resistances of the sections affected by the reported traffic disturbances are influenced, in particular increased, in the digital map used for the route calculation.
- the receiving device If such receiving devices requesting traffic information from a service provider abandon the state of the service provider, the receiving device nonetheless continues to request traffic information from the same service provider.
- the traffic messages subsequently transmitted by the service provider to the receiver are regularly of secondary interest for the foreign location, in particular, they do not contain any information concerning its current foreign location. To make matters worse, a user of the traffic message receiver may not notice the lack of relevant traffic reports for the current location, because it is quite possible that there are no traffic disruptions in the area of his location. In addition to the connection costs for the mobile calls and the service fees for the retrieved traffic information fall here in addition charges for the use of the mobile device abroad, without the information obtained for the recipient have a benefit.
- WO-A-98 15075 discloses a traffic telematics device in which a car radio module, an RDS module, a GSM radio telephone module and a positioning and navigation system are arranged in a housing.
- the telematics device information can be received both by the car radio, as well as via the GSM radio telephone.
- the car radio Information is, for example, RDS-TMC traffic reports.
- the radiotelephone module allows the discontinuation of emergency calls, for example, in vehicle breakdown, with an up-to-date vehicle position is transmitted.
- a route request can also be made to a central office and a transmission of a route calculated for this request from the central office to the telematics device in the vehicle can take place. Based on this route, route guidance can be carried out by the navigation component.
- the above-mentioned TMC traffic reports which are also known in the control center, can be taken into account.
- DE-A-100 39 663 discloses a system for reproducing information relating to one or more objects depending on a user's location, the information being provided in a plurality of information sources. Based on the determined with a position determining device geographical position and depending on selection criteria is accessed to a memory in which information about the corresponding object are stored.
- the memory can be designed as internal memory, in addition, the information can also be retrieved via a broadcast program or an Internet address, for which there is a list in the system, in which the corresponding sources and the associated access addresses are stored.
- An inventive device for receiving traffic information, short traffic message receiver, with the features of the independent claim has the advantage that unnecessary costs in connection with the receipt of traffic reports are avoided. Furthermore, the device according to the invention has the advantage that preferably such traffic messages are received which are relevant for a respective recipient location.
- the user of the traffic message receiver does not have to manually switch between the two receiving devices, which can be easily forgotten on the one hand, but also a distraction of a driver from the traffic during operation of the device in a motor vehicle but that this switching takes place automatically.
- a location-dependent always best possible supply of traffic information is achieved, on the other hand contributes to the invention by reducing distraction of the driver to increase road safety. The latter, however, also because, for example, the likelihood that the driver suddenly finds himself traveling in an unregistered congestion during a trip abroad, is significantly reduced.
- the first receiving device is formed by a radio receiver, the second receiving device by a mobile radio device.
- This advantageously makes it possible to receive traffic information transmitted by means of broadcasting instead of information requested by the service provider, in particular, for example when traveling abroad, if no traffic information relevant to the foreign location is offered anyway by the service provider that can be reached via a mobile radio connection.
- the broadcast receiver is capable of automatically detecting those of the receivable broadcast stations in the course of a station search via the broadcast frequency band, broadcasting the traffic reports according to a certain standard, for example the TMC standard, and to set such a broadcast station.
- An advantageous embodiment of the invention is directed to the fact that in the receiving device according to the invention a table is provided in the possible Locations of the device are assigned information which cause a switching of the switching device to the first or the second receiving device.
- the table can be advantageously further used in that in the table possible locations of the device further address information is assigned, which allow a selection of service providers by means of the mobile device, and that the switching device is further adapted, depending on a detected location from an address information select the table and supply the mobile device.
- an RDS radio receiver based on information contained in the RDS data signal to determine whether from a broadcasting station traffic reports, in particular those are transmitted according to the TMC standard and the radio receiver by a known station search can detect such a broadcasting station automatically, this is not readily possible for service providers reachable over a cellular connection.
- the present development of the invention provides a remedy by address information is stored for possible locations, so that depending on a location, a corresponding service provider can be selected.
- the address information can advantageously include telephone numbers and / or Internet addresses, under which the service provider can be reached by means of the mobile radio device.
- the inventive device 1 shown in Figure 1 for receiving traffic information hereinafter also short device 1, according to the embodiment described here comprises a first receiving device 11 for receiving traffic information over a first transmission path.
- a radio receiver with a decoder for traffic messages transmitted according to the TMC standard mentioned above. This is designed in a manner known per se to receive and decode FM-FM broadcast signals with superimposed RDS information, which also contain TMC traffic reports.
- Such a radio receiver is described, for example, in DE 35 36 820 C2, in which deviation from the local representation today RDS groups of the type 8A for the transmission of TMC traffic reports are used by the broadcasters.
- the device 1 has a second receiving device 12 for receiving traffic reports via a second transmission path.
- the second receiving device 12 is formed by a mobile radio device, such as one according to the GSM or alternatively UMTS standard, via which a service provider can be called in accordance with a telephone number supplied to it, from the traffic over the existing communication link, in particular those concerning the coding of the messages comply with the TMC standard, are transmitted to the interrogator 1.
- a mobile radio device 12 such as one according to the GSM or alternatively UMTS standard
- an Internet service provider can also be dialed in accordance with an Internet address supplied to it, from which traffic reports are loaded via the existing mobile radio connection to the interrogating device 1.
- further receiving devices can be provided, and it can also be provided that other transmission paths are also used to receive traffic reports.
- this does not restrict the invention to alternative radio transmission methods, such as DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) or DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting).
- alternative radio transmission methods such as DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) or DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting).
- satellite telephone and alternative mobile radio transmission methods such as GPRS or others may be provided.
- the traffic message receiving device 1 further comprises a locating device 13 for determining a current location of the device 1.
- a locating device 13 for determining a current location of the device 1.
- the location device 13 provides information about the state in which the location of the device 1 is located. This can be achieved, for example, by comparing location coordinates of the current location determined by the GPS receiver with stored boundary coordinates of the states.
- Alternative embodiments of the locating device 13 are within the scope of the invention.
- the traffic message receiving device 1 further comprises a switching device 14 to which the receiving devices 11 and 12 are connected.
- the switching device 14 has the task of traffic information processing stages 16, for example, a vehicle navigation system that calculates a route from a stationary to a destination taking into account any existing traffic reports or, for example, a driver information unit, the traffic information received visually and / or acoustically brings, as described for example in DE 35 36 820 C2, with one of the two receiving devices 11 or 12 in accordance with their switching information to connect.
- the processing stages 16 process traffic messages received by either the broadcast receiver 11 or the mobile radio device 12.
- the switching information required for controlling the switching device 14 are stored in a memory 15 in tabular form in the preferred embodiment described here.
- the switching information stored in the table 15 is limited to an assignment of one of the two receiving devices 11 or 12 to a host state.
- the first line of the table 15 there, for example the state of residence Germany DE (first column 151), is associated with the second receiving device 12, that is to say the mobile radio device Tel (second column 152) in the present exemplary embodiment.
- the host state France FR (first column 151) is assigned the first receiving device 11, that is to say the radio receiver RFE (second column 152) in the present exemplary embodiment.
- the interaction of locating device 13, switching device 14 and Table 15 is such that upon detection of a current location of the device 1 by means of the locating device 13, the switching device 14 in accordance with this location in the table 15 associated receiving device 11 or 12 switches to this , This means that the further processing stages 16 are supplied in accordance with the switching information contained in the table 15 either by means of the radio receiver 11 received traffic reports or by the mobile radio device 12 retrieved by the selected service provider traffic reports.
- the switching information contained in the table 15 is not restricted to either the first or the second receiving device 11 or 12. This would mean that the device is receiving, for example, in all countries outside the home country is determined by broadcasting traffic reports, since the mobile device 12 is programmed to the telephone number of the service provider of the home country and must be, since the phone number of a responsible for a particular country service provider is not readily apparent.
- the radio receiver 11 for example, by means of a station search on the radio frequency band and a trial-and-error reception the receivable radio frequencies the broadcasters can determine which traffic reports according to the desired, here TMC, standard transmitted.
- the table preferably additionally contains address information (third column 153), at least in the case of the mobile radio device 12.
- address information is a telephone number A1 under which a service provider responsible for the associated location, here a German provider, can be reached.
- the mobile radio device is further set up for establishing an Internet connection.
- table 15 stores Internet address information for those service providers in which traffic messages can be retrieved via the Internet.
- the case is Luxembourg LU, to which the Internet address information A2 is assigned.
- the entry iNet in the second column 152 can be found here in the table, from which it can be seen, for the mobile radio device 12 to be triggered, that the address information to be selected is an Internet address.
- the address information of all or at least several or selected service providers for the respective countries of residence is stored in the table 15 .
- traffic reports in one and the same country can also be made available via different transmission paths, for example both from at least one radio station, and from at least one service provider.
- the affected countries in the memory 15 the switching information for the available transmission paths and optionally additionally the multiple address information to each of the transmission paths are stored.
- Germany DE for example, two telephone numbers A1 and A3 are given for two different service providers.
- the switching device 14 preferably activates that receiving device 11 or 12, in the table under the affected country at first Job stands.
- another prioritization may be provided, for example by means of a corresponding priority identifier entered in the table.
- the traffic message receiving device 1 has an input device 17. This can be formed, for example, as part of the user interface of the processing stages 16. Via the input device 17, the user can delete and input both broadcast frequencies for broadcast stations broadcasting TMC traffic reports, as well as address information. Also, the user may specify or change a priority for certain service providers or broadcasting stations as well as for a particular transmission path.
- the mode of operation of the traffic message receiving device 1 according to the invention will be explained below by means of an example, which is based on the table entries of FIG. 3 and, moreover, on the device 1 according to FIG.
- the vehicle in which the device 1 according to the invention is operated is moving in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.
- the location device 13 which is preferably formed as part of a vehicle navigation system, logically establishes a current vehicle location within Germany by comparing the derived from the satellite signals location coordinates with boundary coordinates of the Federal Republic of Germany. If the device has just been switched on, the switching device 14 reads the switching information available for the determined location DE in the table, in the present case thus "Tel" and "A1". Consequently, the switching device 14 activates the mobile radio device 12 and this leads to the address information, here the phone number A1. The mobile radio device 12 then dials the telephone number A1 and queries via the established telephone connection traffic messages from the selected service provider.
- traffic reports are not static, so can change over time, made at regular intervals more calls to the service provider to query updated traffic reports. If there are traffic reports, they are brought to the attention of the driver, for example via an advertisement as part of the processing stages 16. Furthermore, the traffic disturbances represented by the traffic reports are taken into account in a navigation component of the further processing stages 16 for a route calculation.
- the switching device 14 reads from the table 15 the switching information associated with the entry France FR. In the case of Figure 3, this is at least one piece of information that in France is to switch to radio reception according to the entry "RFE".
- the table 15 also includes a broadcasting frequency F1 via which a broadcasting station transmitting traffic information is to be received. The frequency entries are not necessarily provided because the radio receiver 11 by means of a station scan can automatically detect a broadcasting station broadcasting traffic information.
- the switching device 14 switches to the first receiving device 11, so the radio receiver and tunes it to the found in the table broadcast frequency F 1 from.
- the processing stages 16 via broadcast traffic information.
