Definitions
- the technical field of the invention is that of projectiles comprising an under-calibrated bar arranged in a shoe with caliber.
- the shoe is made of a light material for example aluminum and, conventionally, it is formed of several segments (most often three) which surround the bar. The segments are linked together by a belt ensuring gas tightness in the gun barrel and a or two retaining rings, located at the front or rear of the shoe, or on a front guiding surface.
- the shoe allows the shooting of the bar by the tube of the weapon. It releases the bar at the exit of the tube.
- the bar and the hoof generally have profiles that cooperate with each other to ensure the axial drive of the bar by the shoe when firing the projectile.
- These profiles may include a thread helical on the bar which is housed in a thread of the hoof or alternatively by a succession of teeth and grooves ring.
- Patent FR2666647 describes such a known projectile.
- the classic training profiles are designed from so as to provide the hoof with a bearing surface allowing it to transmit the longitudinal pushing force to the bar created by the action of powder gases. This profile is therefore mainly sized to resist shear.
- the three segments of the hoof then work so independent and generally there is at some point only one or two segments to support the bar in bending.
- the shoe therefore does not help the bar to resist bending.
- the hoof can itself, by the combined action of its inertia, pressure forces and accelerations transverse, start to open at your pocket before. He therefore less well supports the bar.
- the object of the invention to propose a projectile allowing to overcome such drawbacks.
- the invention has also for object the bar and the shoe constituting a such a projectile.
- the projectile according to the invention comprises means at the level of the driving interface of the bar by the shoe which also provides radial support for the segments hoof.
- the subject of the invention is an under-calibrated projectile comprising a bar and a shoe formed of several segments, the bar and the shoe with profiles cooperating with each other so as to provide training axial of the bar by the shoe when firing the projectile, projectile characterized in that there is an axial clearance between the profile carried by the hoof and that carried by the bar of so as to allow a limited relative axial displacement of the shoe with respect to the bar, means being provided ensuring radial locking of the shoe segments by the rung in the most advanced position of the hoof relative to at the bar, this locking being no longer ensured in the furthest back position of the hoof relative to the bar.
- the profiles carried by the hoof and the bar have the shape of teeth separated by grooves, teeth and grooves being annular or formed by a helical thread, a rear face of the teeth carried by the bar having a concave conical profile cooperating during firing with a convex conical profile produced on a front face of the teeth carried by the hoof, these profiles constituting the means ensuring a locking radial of the shoe segments with respect to the bar during the shot.
- a front face of the teeth carried by the bar has a convex conical profile arranged when firing a concave conical profile from a distance on a rear face of the teeth carried by the hoof, these profiles also coming into contact with each other at the gun barrel exit when the hoof recedes from at the bar, the contact between these profiles making it possible to separate hoof segments from the bar.
- a front face of the teeth carried by the bar has a concave profile arranged during distance shooting of a convex profile made on one side back of the teeth carried by the hoof, these profiles coming otherwise in contact with each other at the outlet of the tube of the weapon when the hoof recedes from the bar, the shapes of the profiles being chosen so as to spread the hoof segments with the bar with an initial movement segments substantially parallel to the bar.
- the means of locking include a specific tooth located in front grooves or bar thread, tooth having at level of its rear face a concave conical profile cooperating when firing with a convex conical profile made on a front of a tooth carried by the hoof so as to ensure radial locking of the shoe segments relative to the bar during the shooting.
- the invention also relates to a bar under calibrated intended to be incorporated into a projectile and characterized in that it has an external profile comprising teeth separated by grooves, teeth and grooves being annular or formed by helical thread, one side back of teeth having a concave conical profile.
- a front face of the bar teeth may have a Conical convex profile
- a front face of the bar teeth may have a concave profile.
- the bar may have an external profile comprising teeth separated by grooves, teeth and grooves being annular or formed by a helical thread, a tooth specific being placed in front of the teeth or grooves of the bar, tooth with a concave conical profile at the level from its back side.
- the invention also relates to a shoe intended for be incorporated into a projectile, shoe characterized in that it has an internal profile intended to receive a bar and having teeth separated by grooves, teeth and grooves being annular or formed by a thread helical, a front face of the teeth having a conical profile convex.
- a back side of the hoof teeth may have a concave conical profile
- a back side of the hoof teeth may have a convex profile.
- the shoe may have an internal profile intended for receive a bar and having teeth separated by grooves, teeth and grooves being annular or formed by a helical thread, the front face of the tooth arranged on further forward with a convex conical profile.
- a projectile 1 according to the invention or according to the prior art comprises in a way classic a bar 2 and a shoe 3 formed of several segments.
- the bar carries a tail unit 4 at its rear part and the different shoe segments are joined together from each other by a belt 5 and a front ring 6.
- the bar 2 is housed in a bore 7 of the shoe 3.
- This bore has a profile (not visible in Figure 1) which cooperates with a profile carried by the cylindrical surface external of the bar 2 so as to ensure the axial drive of the bar by the shoe when firing the projectile.
- the area oval marked Z in Figure 1 is enlarged in the figures 2a to 4c, the zone Z1 is also enlarged in the figures 5a and 5b, these zones make it possible to highlight the differences between the binding profiles for projectiles according to the prior art and for projectiles according to the invention.
- Figures 2a and 2b show enlarged and in longitudinal section of zone Z for connection profiles according to the prior art.
- These profiles include a succession of separate teeth by gorges.
- the hoof teeth are marked D3 and the hoof grooves G3, the bar teeth are marked D2 and the grooves of the G2 bar.
- the teeth D2, D3 and the grooves G2 and G3 have in section the shape of trapezoids, all symmetrical about a plane 10 perpendicular to the axis of the bar and passing through the middle the top of the tooth or throat in question.
- each tooth or groove
- FIG. 2b shows another known training profile, the artillery profile.
- the teeth and grooves do not are not symmetrical.
- the D2 teeth of the bar have a rear flank 9 which is strongly inclined relative to direction of bore 7.
- the known profiles are either constituted by a thread helical on the bar cooperating with a thread on the hoof, either by a succession of teeth and annular grooves.
- Figures 3a and 3b show an enlarged area Z of Figure 1 for a projectile according to a first mode of realization of the invention.
- each rear face 11 of the teeth D2 carried by the bar 2 has a concave conical profile which is defined so as to be able to cooperate when firing with a convex conical profile made on each front face 12 of teeth D3 carried by shoe 3.
- the half angle at the top ⁇ ( Figure 3b) of the surfaces tapered faces 11 and 12 will be chosen in the range of 70 ° to 85 °.
- the longitudinal clearance J will be chosen taking into account the deviations in the machining tolerances of the teeth (or thread) as well as taking into account dilations maximum thermal potential.
