Description

The present invention relates to a self-closing umbrella, this closure intervenes when the umbrella is reversed by the wind.

Un tel parasol est connu du document FR 2797 752Such an umbrella is known from FR 2797 752

It is known to provide an umbrella comprising an automatic closing mechanism as shown in Figure 1 attached, this mechanism and the umbrella being seen in this figure in section along the axis of the umbrella.

The umbrella P shown comprises, in a conventional manner, a tubular mast 100, an upper core 110 on which are mounted pivoting whales 120 carrying a corolla 200, whale 130 counter-whale deployment and a slide 140 sliding along the mast 100, on which the counter-ribs 130 are pivotally mounted. The slide 140 comprises a window 141 in which a lateral protrusion 151 of a U-shaped spring 150 situated inside the mast 100 protrudes, this projection 151 assuring the blocking of the slide 140 in the up position and thus the holding in the deployed position of the corolla 200.

The automatic closing mechanism 300 comprises an axial tube 310, which passes through the core 110 with the possibility of sliding. This tube 310 is thus placed partially inside the mast 100 and is engaged on the elongated branch of the spring 150 which forms the boss 151.

In case of overturning of the parasol P, the portion of the tube 310 projecting above the corolla 200 comes into contact with the ground, which causes a sliding of this tube 310 and therefore the displacement of the boss 151 towards the axis of the mast, to extract this boss out of the window 141 and thus release the sliding slide 140.

This device has the important practical disadvantage of requiring the user to return the sliding tube 310 in the high position when the tube has been depressed, to be able to re-lock the sunshade P in the open position. In addition, at the slightest thrust, the umbrella P is likely to close, which requires to ensure that the closure device is well armed before the opening movement of the umbrella. Likewise, vibrations or jolts to which the parasol may be subjected may trigger the descent of the tube 310 driven by its weight, thereby triggering an unexpected closure of the parasol P.

Another disadvantage lies in the fact that the known mechanism is adaptable to the type of umbrella described above, which is a disadvantageous limitation for the manufacturer. Other types of umbrellas exist in fact, including locking the slide by a transverse push button, and hinge allowing the inclination of the corolla. Furthermore, it is not possible to make the locking mechanism in the form of a kit that can be adapted relatively easily to an existing umbrella structure.

The present invention aims to remedy all of these disadvantages.

An object of the invention is therefore to provide an umbrella with automatic closing mechanism in case of overturning of the umbrella, to facilitate the reopening of the umbrella after triggering the mechanism that led to the closure of the umbrella, and increasing the reliability of operation of this mechanism.

Another object of the invention is to provide an umbrella with an automatic closing mechanism that can be adapted to many types of umbrella, in particular to umbrellas with the locking of the slider by push button, and / or with hinge allowing the inclination of the corolla, with limited modifications of the parts that include the existing parasols.

A further object of the invention is to provide an automatic sunshade closure mechanism that can be constructed as a kit that is adaptable relatively easily to an existing sunshade structure.

The parasol concerned comprises, in a manner known per se, a tubular mast, an upper core on which are mounted pivoting whales carrying a corolla, whale deployment against-whales, a slide sliding along the mast, on which are mounted pivoting the counter-whales, releasable locking means of the slider in the up position, and an automatic closing mechanism of the umbrella in case of overturning of this umbrella, this mechanism comprising an elongated member which traverses the core with the possibility of sliding and a part of which protrudes above the corolla, this part being adapted to meet the ground in the event of overturning of the parasol and thus causing a sliding of said elongated member, which realizes the release of said releasable locking means.

According to the invention, said mechanism comprises an elastic return means acting on said elongate member so as to normally maintain this elongated member in the sliding position in which the elongated member does not act on said releasable locking means.

The closing mechanism thus has a weaponry made automatic, so that the umbrella according to the invention does not require any other manipulation than that necessary for its opening. In addition, this closure mechanism prevents inadvertent unlocking of the slider resulting from vibrations or jolts that can be subject to the umbrella, while allowing the sliding of the elongated member in case of overturning of the umbrella.

Preferably, the elongate member and said elastic means are assembled to one another and can thus form a kit adaptable to the parasol. According to one embodiment of the invention in this case, the elongated member comprises a shoulder between a portion of larger section and a portion of smaller section, and said elastic means is a helical spring engaged and retained on this part of lower section to bear by one of its ends against said shoulder, the other end of the spring coming to bear against a bearing surface that includes the umbrella mast.

This bearing surface may in particular be the zone through which an upper part of the mast is connected to a hinge or ball joint allowing the inclination of this upper part of the mast, and thus the inclination of the corolla connected to this upper part of mast.

The end of the spring coming against said shoulder of the elongated member may be glued or engaged with gentle friction on said portion of smaller section.

The elongated member and this spring thus form an assembly that can be set up in a single mounting operation in an upper part of the mast.

When the umbrella comprises a slide equipped with a push-button sliding transversely to the direction of movement of the slide and locking behind a flange that comprises a part integral with the mast, the automatic closing mechanism according to the invention may comprise a piece forming cam linked longitudinally to the elongate member, acting on this push button so as to move it in an unlocked position relative to said collar; the aforementioned elastic means may then be constituted by a helical spring interposed between a bearing surface secured to the part comprising said flange and said cam member.

The automatic closing mechanism thus formed can also be made in the form of a kit adaptable to an existing umbrella structure.

When the umbrella comprises a hinge or ball joint allowing the inclination of an upper part of the mast, and therefore the inclination of the corolla connected to this upper part of the mast, and that this articulation or ball joint is located between said core and said means releasable blocking, the elongated member comprises an upper portion connected to a flexible portion but flexible non-stretchable nor longitudinally contractable, these upper and filamentary portions being dimensioned such that the filamentary portion passes through said joint or patella when the elongate member is set up on the parasol.

This filiform part thus allows the elongate member to follow the movement of the joint or patella.

This threadlike part may in particular be made in the form of a piece of piano wire.

When the sunshade comprises a cam member as aforesaid, this cam member may have an elastically deformable structure between a contraction state, which it adopts for its introduction through the sunshade mast, and a state of expansion, which it adopts when it is put in place in said part forming said locking collar.

The elongate member, the elastic means and this cam member can then be connected in one assembly and be placed on the sunshade simultaneously, and thus form a kit as mentioned above.

Alternatively, the elongated member and the cam member may comprise complementary assembly means, these assembly means coming into engagement with each other when the elongated member is placed in the mast of the umbrella and said cam member is placed in said part forming the locking collar of the slide.

The umbrella according to the invention may further comprise a cord connected to the elongated member or to said cam member, this cord being intended to be connected to a fixed or relatively heavy object, for example a user's bag or a anchoring member on the ground, and allowing, in case of overturning of the umbrella, to actuate the elongate member or said cam member to achieve the automatic closure of the umbrella.

When said cord is connected to the elongated member, this elongated member may comprise a radially movable eyelet connecting the cord, this radial mobility allowing the eyelet, at the moment of introduction of the elongate member in the mast, to do not impede this introduction, and once the elongated member placed in the mast, to project through a window fitted in the mast.

For simplicity, parts or elements of an embodiment that are identical or similar in another embodiment will be identified by the same reference numerals and will not be described again.

The slider 7 comprises a window 8 in which is protruded a lateral boss 10 of a U-shaped spring 11 located inside the mast 2, this boss 10 ensuring the locking of the slider 7 in the upper position and thus maintaining the corolla 5 in the deployed position.

The umbrella 1 comprises an automatic closing mechanism 15, including an axial tube 16, which passes through the core 3 with the possibility of sliding, an extension of the branch 11a of the spring 11 which forms the boss 10, engaged in the tube 16, a ball 17 fixed to the end of the tube 16 projecting above the corolla 5, and a spring 20 bearing against the core 3 on the one hand, by one end 20a; and against the ball 17 on the other hand, this spring 20 tending to constantly remove this ball 16 of the core 3.

In case of overturning of the umbrella 1, the portion of the tube 16 projecting above the corolla 5 comes into contact with the ground, which causes this tube 16 to slide towards the boss 10, against the restoring force exerted by the spring 20. This sliding has the effect of moving the boss 10 towards the axis of the mast 2, to extract the boss 10 out of the window 8 and thus release the sliding of the slider 7.

When the pressure on the tube 16 ceases, the spring 20 brings this tube back to its original position. The mechanism 15 thus has an arming made automatic, so that the umbrella 1 does not require any other manipulation than that necessary for its opening. In addition, this mechanism 15 prevents inadvertent unlocking of the slider 7 resulting from vibrations or jolts to which the umbrella 1 can be subjected.

The umbrella 1 according to FIGS. 4 and 5 comprises a mast 2, a core 3, whales 4, a corolla 5, counter-whales 6, a slider 7, a sliding tube 16 allowing the release of the slider locking means 7 relative to the mast 2 in the opening position of the umbrella 1, and a spring 20.

The umbrella 1 shown comprises an upper mast portion 2a, provided with a sphere 25 at its lower end, and a lower mast portion 2b, having a tubular member 26 fitted in its upper end. This tubular piece 26 forms a spherical housing 27 for receiving the sphere 25 with the possibility of multidirectional movement.

La partie de mât 2a comprend le noyau 3 et le tube 16, celui-ci étant équipé d'un embout terminal 17, et la partie de mât inférieure 2b reçoit le coulisseau 7.The mast portion 2a comprises the core 3 and the tube 16, the latter being equipped with a terminal end 17, and the lower mast portion 2b receives the slider 7.

As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the piece 26 forms a frustoconical flange 30 defining an upper shoulder, and the slider 7 delimits a transversally oriented chamber opening to the outside, in which a pushbutton 31 is placed. push-button 31 delimits an opening capable of receiving said collar 30, and comprises a bearing portion 32 and a locking portion 33 opposite this bearing portion 32, this locking portion 33 being able to bear against the collar 30. The push-button 31 is slidable in said chamber, between the illustrated locking position, in which the locking portion 33 bears against the shoulder formed by the collar 30, thus locking the 7 relative to the piece 26, and an unlocking position, in which the push button 31 is moved to the left of Figure 4 relative to the position shown, said locking portion 33 being, in this position, erased beyond the flange 30 and thus releasing the slider 7. A spring (not shown) normally holds the pushbutton 31 in the locked position shown, and a pressure on the bearing portion 32 allows the sliding of this push button 31, against the force of this spring.

The locking portion 33 comprises an inclined upper face, bearing against the inclined lateral face of the flange 30 when the slider 7 approaches its locking position, these faces acting as ramps which slide the push button 31 in order to allow the automatic clearing of the locking portion 33 for the passage of this locking portion above the collar 30.

As shown, the tube 16 comprises an upper portion 16a of larger section and a lower portion 16b of smaller section, defining between them a shoulder. The spring 20 is engaged with gentle friction on this portion 16b of smaller section to carry by one of its ends against said shoulder, the other end of this spring 20 to bear against an inner edge 34 of the part of mast 2a, formed at the zone of connection of the sphere 25 to this mast portion 2a.

The tube 16 is further connected to a cam member 35 via a piano wire section 36, which cam member 35 is housed in the piece 26 and said piano string section 36 extends to through the sphere 25 and in the room 26.

The cam member 35 is slidably dimensioned in the workpiece 26, a guide ring 37 being provided for this purpose. This piece 35 comprises a lateral boss 38 with an inclined face, projecting radially on the outside of the piece 26, through a window that comprises the latter. This boss 38 bears against the locking portion 33 and, when the piece 35 is moved downwards relative to the piece 26, forms a cam for moving the locking portion 33 in its aforementioned unlocking position.

The spring 20, however, normally holds the tube 16, and therefore the piece 35, in the position shown in Figures 4 and 5, wherein the boss 38 does not obstruct the coming of the locking portion 33 in the locking position.

The piano string section 36 is flexible but not stretchable or longitudinally compressible, so that, as shown in FIG. 5, it is possible to follow the inclination of the mast portion 2a while transmitting the movement of sliding of the tube 16 to the piece 35 in case of overturning of the parasol 1. The sphere 25 has a cavity 39, conical or cross-shaped at its end zone, to allow its movement notwithstanding the presence of the section 36.

The piece 35 is also connected to the cord 40 by a connecting ring 41, this cord 40 being engaged through a window provided in the mast portion 2b and opening onto the outside of the mast 2. This cord 40 may be connected to a relatively heavy object or ground anchoring means and allows to actuate the part 35 in the unlocking direction of the slide 7 in the case where the umbrella 1 would leave its position of use under the effect of a strong wind.

In the embodiment shown in Figure 6, the spring 20 is not placed at the bottom of the tube 16 but between the piece 35, which does not then extend downwards, and a cap 45 secured to the lower end of the room 26.

The piece 35 is, in this case, maintained in the radial direction by means of a transverse pin 46 engaged in holes that includes the piece 26 and engaged, with the possibility of sliding, in a vertical slot 47 that includes the piece 35 coincidence of these holes.

Le cordon 40, relié à la pièce 35, traverse le ressort 20 et le capuchon 45.The cord 40, connected to the piece 35, passes through the spring 20 and the cap 45.

La figure 9 montre un parasol 1 à rotule et à bouton-poussoir 31 substantiellement tel que précité, et l'on retrouve la partie de mât supérieure 2a, le noyau 3, les baleines 4, le tube 16, le ressort 20 placé à la partie inférieure du tube 16, la sphère 25, la pièce 26, le coulisseau 7, le bouton-poussoir 31, la pièce formant came 35 et le tronçon de corde à piano 36.FIG. 9 shows a parasol 1 with a ball and a push button 31 substantially as mentioned above, and the upper mast portion 2a, the core 3, the ribs 4, the tube 16, the spring 20 placed at the lower part of the tube 16, the sphere 25, the piece 26, the slider 7, the push-button 31, the cam piece 35 and the piano string section 36.

In this case, and as appears with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8, the piece 35 has a "V" -shaped structure and is elastically deformable between a contraction state visible in FIG. 8 and a normal visible extension state. in Figures 7 and 9.

The assembly of the tube 16 - spring 20 - section 36 - piece 35 assembly can thus be achieved by a single operation of engagement of this assembly in the mast portion 2a, the piece 35 being brought into its contracted state during its passage through the cavity 39 arranged in the sphere 25 for the passage of the section 36 (see Figure 8), then returning to its normal state of extension when it is brought to the window of the part 26 provided for receive the boss 38 that it comprises (see Figure 9). Of course, the part 35 is shaped so that the force required for its deformation is significantly greater than the force produced by the return spring of the push button 31 in the locking position.

According to another feature of the embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 7 to 9, the tube 16 comprises a boss 41 provided with a hole for fixing a cord 40 as mentioned above, and the mast portion 2a comprises a window 50 in which this boss 41 is engaged when the workpiece 35 is in the mounting position in the workpiece 26, as shown in Figure 9. To allow to erase the boss 41 inward during engagement of the tube 16 in the mast portion 2a, as shown in Figure 8, the tube 16 comprises a cut-shaped "U" around the boss 41, individualizing an elastically flexible tab in the direction radial, bearing the boss 41. This tab is movable between a radially internal position of erasing the boss 41 and a radially outer projection of this boss 41 through the window 50.

La figure 12 montre un parasol 1 du même type que celui montré sur la figure 9, et les figures 10 à 12 correspondent aux figures 7 à 9, c'est-à-dire montrent respectivement un mécanisme 15 de libération des moyens de blocage du coulisseau 7 en position d'ouverture du parasol 1, ce mécanisme en cours de mise en place sur le parasol 1, et ce mécanisme après cette mise en place.FIG. 12 shows a parasol 1 of the same type as that shown in FIG. 9, and FIGS. 10 to 12 correspond to FIGS. 7 to 9, that is to say respectively show a mechanism 15 for releasing the locking means of FIG. slide 7 in the open position of the umbrella 1, this mechanism being placed on the umbrella 1, and this mechanism after this establishment.

Cette nervure 54 permet de guider le déplacement de la pièce 35 tout en maintenant la boule 51 dans son logement 52.In this case, the section 36 comprises a ball 51 fixed to it and the piece 35 has a housing 52 for receiving the ball 51, opening laterally. As shown in FIG. 13, this piece 35 also has a longitudinal groove 53 fitted on its edge opposite the boss 38, and the piece 26 comprises a rib 54 slidably engaged in this groove 53 when the piece 35 is put into position. Place on the piece 36. This rib 54 guides the movement of the piece 35 while maintaining the ball 51 in its housing 52.

As is apparent from the foregoing, the invention provides a self-closing umbrella having many advantages over prior art parasols, particularly those of facilitating the reopening of the umbrella after triggering the mechanism that led to the closure of the umbrella. to increase the operating reliability of this mechanism, and to be able to be adapted to many types of umbrella, in particular umbrellas with the locking of the slider by push button, and / or with articulation allowing the inclination of the corolla, with limited modifications of the parts that include the existing parasols.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above by way of example but that it extends to all embodiments covered by the appended claims.
