Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a self-closing umbrella, this closure intervenes when the umbrella is reversed by the wind.
  • the umbrella P shown comprises, in a conventional manner, a tubular mast 100, an upper core 110 on which are mounted pivoting whales 120 carrying a corolla 200, whale 130 counter-whale deployment and a slide 140 sliding along the mast 100, on which the counter-ribs 130 are pivotally mounted.
  • the slide 140 comprises a window 141 in which a lateral protrusion 151 of a U-shaped spring 150 situated inside the mast 100 protrudes, this projection 151 assuring the blocking of the slide 140 in the up position and thus the holding in the deployed position of the corolla 200.
  • the automatic closing mechanism 300 comprises an axial tube 310, which passes through the core 110 with the possibility of sliding. This tube 310 is thus placed partially inside the mast 100 and is engaged on the elongated branch of the spring 150 which forms the boss 151.
  • This device has the important practical disadvantage of requiring the user to return the sliding tube 310 in the high position when the tube has been depressed, to be able to re-lock the sunshade P in the open position.
  • the umbrella P is likely to close, which requires to ensure that the closure device is well armed before the opening movement of the umbrella.
  • vibrations or jolts to which the parasol may be subjected may trigger the descent of the tube 310 driven by its weight, thereby triggering an unexpected closure of the parasol P.
  • the present invention aims to remedy all of these disadvantages.
  • An object of the invention is therefore to provide an umbrella with automatic closing mechanism in case of overturning of the umbrella, to facilitate the reopening of the umbrella after triggering the mechanism that led to the closure of the umbrella, and increasing the reliability of operation of this mechanism.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide an umbrella with an automatic closing mechanism that can be adapted to many types of umbrella, in particular to umbrellas with the locking of the slider by push button, and / or with hinge allowing the inclination of the corolla, with limited modifications of the parts that include the existing parasols.
  • a further object of the invention is to provide an automatic sunshade closure mechanism that can be constructed as a kit that is adaptable relatively easily to an existing sunshade structure.
  • the parasol concerned comprises, in a manner known per se, a tubular mast, an upper core on which are mounted pivoting whales carrying a corolla, whale deployment against-whales, a slide sliding along the mast, on which are mounted pivoting the counter-whales, releasable locking means of the slider in the up position, and an automatic closing mechanism of the umbrella in case of overturning of this umbrella, this mechanism comprising an elongated member which traverses the core with the possibility of sliding and a part of which protrudes above the corolla, this part being adapted to meet the ground in the event of overturning of the parasol and thus causing a sliding of said elongated member, which realizes the release of said releasable locking means.
  • said mechanism comprises an elastic return means acting on said elongate member so as to normally maintain this elongated member in the sliding position in which the elongated member does not act on said releasable locking means.
  • the closing mechanism thus has a weaponry made automatic, so that the umbrella according to the invention does not require any other manipulation than that necessary for its opening.
  • this closure mechanism prevents inadvertent unlocking of the slider resulting from vibrations or jolts that can be subject to the umbrella, while allowing the sliding of the elongated member in case of overturning of the umbrella.
  • the elongate member and said elastic means are assembled to one another and can thus form a kit adaptable to the parasol.
  • the elongated member comprises a shoulder between a portion of larger section and a portion of smaller section, and said elastic means is a helical spring engaged and retained on this part of lower section to bear by one of its ends against said shoulder, the other end of the spring coming to bear against a bearing surface that includes the umbrella mast.
  • This bearing surface may in particular be the zone through which an upper part of the mast is connected to a hinge or ball joint allowing the inclination of this upper part of the mast, and thus the inclination of the corolla connected to this upper part of mast.
  • the end of the spring coming against said shoulder of the elongated member may be glued or engaged with gentle friction on said portion of smaller section.
  • the elongated member and this spring thus form an assembly that can be set up in a single mounting operation in an upper part of the mast.
  • the automatic closing mechanism may comprise a piece forming cam linked longitudinally to the elongate member, acting on this push button so as to move it in an unlocked position relative to said collar; the aforementioned elastic means may then be constituted by a helical spring interposed between a bearing surface secured to the part comprising said flange and said cam member.
  • the automatic closing mechanism thus formed can also be made in the form of a kit adaptable to an existing umbrella structure.
  • the umbrella comprises a hinge or ball joint allowing the inclination of an upper part of the mast, and therefore the inclination of the corolla connected to this upper part of the mast, and that this articulation or ball joint is located between said core and said means releasable blocking
  • the elongated member comprises an upper portion connected to a flexible portion but flexible non-stretchable nor longitudinally contractable, these upper and filamentary portions being dimensioned such that the filamentary portion passes through said joint or patella when the elongate member is set up on the parasol.
  • This filiform part thus allows the elongate member to follow the movement of the joint or patella.
  • This threadlike part may in particular be made in the form of a piece of piano wire.
  • this cam member may have an elastically deformable structure between a contraction state, which it adopts for its introduction through the sunshade mast, and a state of expansion, which it adopts when it is put in place in said part forming said locking collar.
  • the elongate member, the elastic means and this cam member can then be connected in one assembly and be placed on the sunshade simultaneously, and thus form a kit as mentioned above.
  • the elongated member and the cam member may comprise complementary assembly means, these assembly means coming into engagement with each other when the elongated member is placed in the mast of the umbrella and said cam member is placed in said part forming the locking collar of the slide.
  • the umbrella according to the invention may further comprise a cord connected to the elongated member or to said cam member, this cord being intended to be connected to a fixed or relatively heavy object, for example a user's bag or a anchoring member on the ground, and allowing, in case of overturning of the umbrella, to actuate the elongate member or said cam member to achieve the automatic closure of the umbrella.
  • a cord connected to the elongated member or to said cam member, this cord being intended to be connected to a fixed or relatively heavy object, for example a user's bag or a anchoring member on the ground, and allowing, in case of overturning of the umbrella, to actuate the elongate member or said cam member to achieve the automatic closure of the umbrella.
  • this elongated member When said cord is connected to the elongated member, this elongated member may comprise a radially movable eyelet connecting the cord, this radial mobility allowing the eyelet, at the moment of introduction of the elongate member in the mast, to do not impede this introduction, and once the elongated member placed in the mast, to project through a window fitted in the mast.
  • FIG. 2 represents an umbrella 1 comprising a tubular mast 2, an upper core 3 on which are pivotally mounted whales 4 carrying a corolla 5 (shown in dashed lines), counter whales 6 for deploying the whales 4 and a sliding slide 7 along the mast 2, on which are pivoted the counterbeats 6.
  • the slider 7 comprises a window 8 in which is protruded a lateral boss 10 of a U-shaped spring 11 located inside the mast 2, this boss 10 ensuring the locking of the slider 7 in the upper position and thus maintaining the corolla 5 in the deployed position.
  • the umbrella 1 comprises an automatic closing mechanism 15, including an axial tube 16, which passes through the core 3 with the possibility of sliding, an extension of the branch 11a of the spring 11 which forms the boss 10, engaged in the tube 16, a ball 17 fixed to the end of the tube 16 projecting above the corolla 5, and a spring 20 bearing against the core 3 on the one hand, by one end 20a; and against the ball 17 on the other hand, this spring 20 tending to constantly remove this ball 16 of the core 3.
  • an automatic closing mechanism 15 including an axial tube 16, which passes through the core 3 with the possibility of sliding, an extension of the branch 11a of the spring 11 which forms the boss 10, engaged in the tube 16, a ball 17 fixed to the end of the tube 16 projecting above the corolla 5, and a spring 20 bearing against the core 3 on the one hand, by one end 20a; and against the ball 17 on the other hand, this spring 20 tending to constantly remove this ball 16 of the core 3.
  • the mechanism 15 thus has an arming made automatic, so that the umbrella 1 does not require any other manipulation than that necessary for its opening.
  • this mechanism 15 prevents inadvertent unlocking of the slider 7 resulting from vibrations or jolts to which the umbrella 1 can be subjected.
  • the umbrella 1 according to FIGS. 4 and 5 comprises a mast 2, a core 3, whales 4, a corolla 5, counter-whales 6, a slider 7, a sliding tube 16 allowing the release of the slider locking means 7 relative to the mast 2 in the opening position of the umbrella 1, and a spring 20.
  • the umbrella 1 shown comprises an upper mast portion 2a, provided with a sphere 25 at its lower end, and a lower mast portion 2b, having a tubular member 26 fitted in its upper end.
  • This tubular piece 26 forms a spherical housing 27 for receiving the sphere 25 with the possibility of multidirectional movement.
  • the mast portion 2a comprises the core 3 and the tube 16, the latter being equipped with a terminal end 17, and the lower mast portion 2b receives the slider 7.

  • the slider 7 delimits a transversally oriented chamber opening to the outside, in which a pushbutton 31 is placed.
  • push-button 31 delimits an opening capable of receiving said collar 30, and comprises a bearing portion 32 and a locking portion 33 opposite this bearing portion 32, this locking portion 33 being able to bear against the collar 30.
  • the push-button 31 is slidable in said chamber, between the illustrated locking position, in which the locking portion 33 bears against the shoulder formed by the collar 30, thus locking the 7 relative to the piece 26, and an unlocking position, in which the push button 31 is moved to the left of Figure 4 relative to the position shown, said locking portion 33 being, in this position, erased beyond the flange 30 and thus releasing the slider 7.
  • a spring (not shown) normally holds the pushbutton 31 in the locked position shown, and a pressure on the bearing portion 32 allows the sliding of this push button 31, against the force of this spring.
  • the locking portion 33 comprises an inclined upper face, bearing against the inclined lateral face of the flange 30 when the slider 7 approaches its locking position, these faces acting as ramps which slide the push button 31 in order to allow the automatic clearing of the locking portion 33 for the passage of this locking portion above the collar 30.
  • the tube 16 comprises an upper portion 16a of larger section and a lower portion 16b of smaller section, defining between them a shoulder.
  • the spring 20 is engaged with gentle friction on this portion 16b of smaller section to carry by one of its ends against said shoulder, the other end of this spring 20 to bear against an inner edge 34 of the part of mast 2a, formed at the zone of connection of the sphere 25 to this mast portion 2a.
