• This invention relates to both a label, an article with an attached label, and a method of manufacture of a label for assisting in identification and recalling identification of articles especially in connection with beverages such as wine.

• the method then includes the selective application of a coating to at least substantially the area beneath the smaller portion of an integral label where a smaller portion of the label has been defined by a line or lines of weakness including for instance perforated cut lines or slits where there continues to be some integral connection with the larger portion of the label.
