Claims (9)

  1. An electrical connector (1) for connecting a cable (2) providing the electrical connection between two railway vehicle cars, consisting of:
    - a base (3) of electrically insulating material containing a central area which is stepped in cross section,
    - a profile (4) in electrically conducting material, resting on steps of the central area of the base (3), the profile consisting of:
    • a stepped section (4a), locally joining the steps of the central area of the base and containing steps, each of which has a sleeve for receiving an electrical connecting pin (5) supported by the base, each pin being intended to allow the electrical connection with an electrical circuit cable (6) of the car to be connected, and
    • a straight section (4b), bearing at least one sleeve (8) to receive a clamp pin (9) placed at one end of the connecting cable (2).
  2. An electrical connector (1) according to claim 1 in which the straight section (4b) of the profile (4) supports multiple sockets (8) for connecting several cables (2) in parallel.
  3. An electrical connector (1) according to claim 2 in which the said profile (4) extends longitudinally to the base (3) and the said sleeves are placed on the longitudinal axis of the profile (4) and extend perpendicularly to the profile (4).
  4. An electrical connector (1) according to any of the claims 1 to 3 in which the clamp pins (9) are locked inside the sleeves (8) by means of a locking clip (12).
  5. An electrical connector according to any of the claims 1 to 4 in which the said base (3) consisting of a means of assembly (3a, 3b) with an identical base (3) to a second electrical connector.
  6. An electrical connector (1) according to claim 5 in which the base (3) consists of lateral walls rising on each side of the central area, the lateral walls having exterior faces provided with ridges (3a) forming mortise and protuberances (3b) in form of a dovetail joint adapted to the entire assembly of the said base (3) of the connector with the base (3) of a second connector.
  7. An assembly of an electrical connector (1) according to any of the claims 1 to 6 and with at least one clamp pin (9) intended to be placed at one end of a corresponding connecting cable (2) comprising a fool-proofing device consisting of a first element (10) attached to the sleeve (8) and a second additional element (11) mounted on the clamp pin (9), so that the first element only allows the connection of the clamp pins (9) provided with a second additional element (11).
  8. An assembly according to claim 7, in which the first element (10) and the second additional element (11) have the same colour allowing them to be differentiated from any other fool-proofing devices.
  9. An assembly according to any of the claims 7 or 8, in which the said first element consists of a ring (10) inserted into the sleeve (8) and the said second additional element consists of a ring (11) mounted around the clamp pin (9), the said rings (10, 11) each having a lateral edge provided with a lug (10a, 11a) intended to penetrate into a notch (11b, 10b) in the lateral edge of the other ring.
