Definitions
- the technical field of the invention is that of devices for ensuring an electrical connection between a receding mass of a weapon and a fixed frame.
- the electrical energy conveyed with such a solution is reduced (on the order of a few hundred milli joules) and is sufficient for the initiation of an electric igniter ammunition.
- This solution is ill-suited to weapons using plasma igniters. Indeed these are fed by high voltage pulses (of the order of 5 to 20 kilo volts) and high energy (around a few hundreds of kilograms Joules).
- the touch contact characteristics are such that the energy carried would cause a fusion of contacts and destruction of the power supply.
- the device according to the invention makes it possible to ensure reliably the connection between a receding mass and a cradle of a weapon while allowing the passage of energy significant (of the order of several hundred kilograms Joules).
- the subject of the invention is a device ensuring the electrical connection between a receding mass of a weapon and a fixed cradle, device characterized in that it comprises at minus a connector formed by a male plug and a plug female, one of the connector sockets being secured to the cradle and the other socket being secured to the mass receding, the receding of the latter causing the disconnection.
- the solid socket of the cradle can be secured to a motor means allowing the displacement of the socket secured to the cradle so as to ensure disconnection holds when the receding mass is in a position rest before shooting.
- the plugs of the male plug may be integral with a support made of a flexible insulating material.
- the female socket may include at least two sockets contact cylinders with an internal diameter slightly lower than that of the contact cards of the male plug, each socket having a longitudinal slot giving it a possibility of radial deformation during the introduction of the sheet.
- the male plug may include at least two plugs contact whose free length outside the socket will be greater than or equal to the length of the sockets.
- the male plug may be secured to the cradle and the female socket secured to the receding mass.
- a weapon 1 has a recoiling mass 2 sliding mounted relative to a cradle 3.
- the receding mass 2 comprises a tube which is equipped at its rear part of a cylinder head sleeve 5, inside which moves a closing corner 4.
- Such a structure weapon is well known to the skilled person and it is not necessary to describe it in more detail.
- the tube 2 here receives an ammunition of which only the base shutter 6 is shown.
- This base carries an igniter tube (not shown) which will be for example a plasma igniter as described by patents FR2807610 and FR2807611.
- the igniter is initiated by an electric current which arrives via two contact pads 7a and 7b integral with the base 4 and electrically insulated one of the other.
- the electrical connection between the touches 8a, 8b and the generator 9 is done by via a connector 10 which includes a socket male 11 and female socket 12.
- the male socket 11 is integral with the cradle 3 of the weapon and the socket 12 is integral with the receding mass 2 and more particularly from corner 4.
- connector 10 and weapon 1 are of course very exaggerated in Figure 1, so to facilitate the description of the connector while locating this one in relation to the weapon.
- the connector according to the invention is a part of dimensions much smaller than that of the breech wedge.
- a connector according to the invention thus forms, when assembled, a parallelepiped of about 200 mm x 200 mm x 100 mm.
- the socket 12 is formed by a body 13 made of material electrical insulation, for example plastic, which has two holes 14a, 14b inside which are arranged in cylindrical contact sockets 15a, 15b in metal (for example brass).
- the diameter of the holes 14a, 14b is weaker on both sides of the sockets 15a, 15b as well the sockets are immobilized axially with respect to to the body 13 by shoulders 16.
- the sockets 15a, 15b may be embedded in the material of the body 13 which may thus being overmolded on the sockets.
- Each socket 15a, 15b is connected to one of the touchaux 8a, 8b by a conductor 17a, 17b which crosses the cylinder head corner 4.
- the male plug 11 comprises an insulating housing 18 closed by a cover 19, also insulating, and fixed to the housing by example by screw.
- the case 18 contains two sheets of contact 20a, 20b cylindrical which pass through the cover by orifices.
- Each plug 20a, 20b has an enlarged head 21a, 21b which is electrically connected by solder to a conductor electric 22a, 22b itself connected to the generator electric 9.
- the insulating housing 18 has an internal cavity inside which the heads 21 of the plugs 20 are housed. This cavity is filled with a flexible insulating support material 23 (for example silicone) which surrounds the heads 21 of the sheets. Furthermore, the openings of the cover 19 have a diameter greater than that of the plugs (by a few tenths mm). Such characteristics make it possible to confer on sheets 20 a certain freedom of movement which authorizes a limited pivoting of the axis of each plug relative to the housing 18.
- a flexible insulating support material 23 for example silicone
- Such an arrangement facilitates good positioning of the plugs 20a, 20b with respect to sockets 15a, 15b when establishing the connection.
- Sheets 20a and 20b are intended to be used in the sockets 15a, 15b so as to ensure electrical contact between the conductors 22a, 22b and the conductors 17a, 17b.
- the Figure 2 thus shows the sockets in the connected position.
- the length of the plugs 20a, 20b which extends outside the box 18 is chosen to be greater than or equal to that of sockets 15a, 15b. This in order to ensure a surface of maximum contact.
- each socket 15 has a slot longitudinal 24 which gives it a possibility of radial deformation when inserting the male plug 20. Such an arrangement increases the quality of the connection electrical by decreasing the electrical resistances by contact.
- a motor means 25 which is here constituted by a jack hydraulic whose body is integral with the cradle 3 of the weapon and whose rod 26 carries the male plug 11.
- the female socket being integral with the mass receding, the recoil of the latter when fired results in a relative displacement of the socket relative to the male plug, therefore disconnection.
- the operation of the device is as follows.
- the shooting of the projectile causes the recoil of the mass backward 2 (displacement along arrow D).
- Hindsight automatically opens the electrical connector 10 without any particular mechanical constraints.
- Such a provision ensures that when the receding mass returns in battery after recoil, the electrical connection is not will not automatically be restored which will allow opening the corner 4 to allow reloading.
- FIGS 3 to 5b show an example of a mode particular realization of a socket 12.
- This one is here formed of two parts: a support 12a and a flange 12b, linked to the support 12a by screws.
- Support 12a and flange 12b are made of insulating material (plastic or composite).
- the support and the flange each carry two half-cylinders 27, 28 which constitute the accommodation for sockets 15 (not shown in Figure 3). These half cylinders are delimited by shoulders 16 ensuring the axial immobilization of the sockets.
- FIG 4 shows in perspective a socket 15 before its placed in the housings 27, 28.
- the socket is made of brass and the slot 24 ensures its flexibility.
- a conductive rod 29 is integral with the socket to which it is fixed by welding. This rod ensures the conduct of the current through the support 12a which it crosses by a hole (not shown in Figure 3).
- Figures 5a and 5b show this socket 12 Assembly.
- Figure 5b also shows the two rods 29a and 29b which are each secured to a socket 15.
- the conductors 17a and 17b will be fixed to these rods by welding when mounting the socket on the cylinder head corner.
- a connector according to the invention comprising more than two sheets.
- Other files may therefore be provided to conduct a signal programming intended for ammunition or to lead to cradle a room temperature measurement signal of the weapon.
- the connector according to the invention is particularly well suitable for conducting a high voltage current such that is necessary for the initiation of a plasma igniter. he however, it is also possible to use the connector according to the invention for conducting an ignition current of moderate intensity (of the order of an ampere) for example for the ignition of a conventional igniter. In this case the connector according to the invention provides excellent contact quality electric between recoiling mass and cradle while being simple structure.
