Definitions
- the present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting materials in plates, in particular slates or panes.
- Apparatuses for slicing plate materials are well known in the art. those versed in this art. These devices generally include at least a frame incorporating a cutting table delimiting a longitudinal slot traversed by a cutting blade, preferably circular, mounted freely at rotation on a carriage guided above the slot, this carriage being maneuvered by a grip.
- the devices known from the prior art are generally heavy and bulky. These devices are used on the ground. This results in the need for the operator, who works in elevation, especially on a roof, to proceed regularly back and forth between its slate laying point and the location of the device for slicing slates. This multiplication of back and forth and in particular stages of ascent of the construction to reach the roof increases the risk of accidents.
- An object of the present invention is therefore to propose an apparatus for slicing of sheet materials, the design of which allows them to be worn appliance to a location corresponding to the installation location of the slates or windows, in particular at the level of the roof or the frame construction.
- the invention relates to an apparatus for slicing materials in sheets, in particular of slate or glass, of the type comprising at least a frame incorporating a cutting table delimiting a longitudinal slot traversed by a cutting blade mounted on a carriage guided above the slot and operated by a grip handle, characterized in that at least a component part of the frame, or coupled to the latter, has an edge of cut forming anvil.
- the cutting edge extends outside the perimeter defined by the cutting table.
- it is planned at least one end of travel stop for the carriage so that it can be immobilized the carriage in the vicinity of a limit switch corresponding to a high point of the device when the device is tilted and thus free the space between the end opposite bottom of the device and said carriage to allow hand cutting free of plate materials.
- the operator can freely position its plate material to be sliced on the cutting edge forming a front anvil to slice.
- the operator has constantly in his vicinity the device for slicing and no longer has to go back and forth between his work station and the slicing station which can be as well arranged side by side.
- the device is thus positioned on the roof so inclined following the natural slope of the roof, the means of fixing to the frame or roof can be any.
- the roofer can take turns slicing operations in series using the cutting blade or more precise slicing operations using an anvil and a hammer.
- the apparatus 1, object of the invention, intended for slicing of sheet materials, in particular slate or glass, is characterized by its design which allows positioning of such a device directly on the roof of a building.
- a slicing station allowing to carry out any type of slicing whether it is a slicing of the type series by means of a cutting blade or a special slicing by means with a hammer and anvil.
- this device 1 comprises at least one frame 2 incorporating a cutting table 3.
- This cutting table 3 delimits a slot 6 longitudinal traversed by a cutting blade 4 mounted on a carriage 5.
- This carriage 5 is guided over the slot 6 and operated by a handle 7 of capture.
- At least one component part of the frame 2, or coupled to the latter has a cutting edge 9 forming an anvil.
- the presence of this cutting edge 9 thus allows the roofer to perform slicing operations on sheet materials using a hammer 14 by positioning the plate material to be cut on the cutting edge 9.
- This cutting edge forming an anvil will be more particularly used for atypical slicing.
- the cutting blade 4 mounted on the carriage 5 will be used.
- the roofer thus has all the means at its workstation to slicing generally made available to it to carry out the operations of chopped off. Previously, it had an anvil consisting of a cutting edge forming an anvil and mounted on a foot intended to be fixed in the frame of the roof.
- the cutting edge 9 extends outside the perimeter delimited by the cutting table 3.
- the roofer's hammer 14, shown in the figures can be freely actuated without damaging the rest of the device. It has sufficient space and stroke to realize the cutting operation.
- the frame consists of spar (s) 2A connecting between them crossbars 2B delimiting the stroke of the carriage 5.
- the edge 9 of cut forming an anvil is then formed by the top of at least one spar 2A.
- This frame member 2A the top of which constitutes an edge 9 of cutter forming anvil, is arranged in a position in which it overcomes the cutting table 3 and is offset relative to the latter. AT again, this shift is more particularly visible in Figure 3 where we notes that compared to the size of the table 3, the cutting edge 9 extends outside the perimeter delimited by said cutting table 3. This offset allows the roofer, acting by means of his hammer 14, not to strike, during the cutting operation, the cutting table 3.
- the carriage 5 cooperates with at least one stop 8 limit switch, which will be described in more detail below, so that be immobilized near a limit switch when the device 1 is tilted and prevent the natural movement of the carriage by gravity. So the device can be positioned on a roof and the carriage 5 immobilized in an end position of stroke to allow the operator to freely place his slate on the cutting edge 9 or on the cutting table 3 despite the general inclination of the device. The carriage 5 can then be maneuvered by the operator to perform the slicing operation.
- the operator holds the slate with one hand while maneuvering with the other hand the cart. For this purpose, it is positioned at the end of the cutting table and move the cart closer to it.
- the carriage 5 is returned to an end of travel position for the preparation of a new slicing operation. Immobilization of the trolley 5, in the vicinity of a limit switch, can be carried out according to a large number of embodiments.
- judgment 8 at the end of stroke is coupled to the frame 2 of the device 1 and is positioned on the trajectory followed by a complementary member, mounted on the carriage 5.
- This member 9 complementary, such as a stop, and / or stop 8 at the end of the race are loaded by spring so as to retract or retract upon mutual contact obtained by manual movement of the carriage 5.
- the end-of-travel stop 8 is constituted by a simple integral pin a side member 2A of the frame.
- the complementary member, positioned on the carriage 5, consists of a ball loaded by spring and protruding at less partially of a housing affecting the shape of a extending finger perpendicular to the vertical plane passing through the cutting blade.
- Stop 8 at the end of the race the ball protrudes again of its housing and constitutes a stop preventing the movement of the carriage in the absence of the supply of muscular effort corresponding to the maneuvering the trolley. Therefore, the carriage which, under the effect of its own weight, would tend to move following the inclination of the slope of the roof on which it is positioned, cannot overcome the resistance offered by the cooperation of the end of race stop 8 and the member. Obviously, each time the judgment 8 limit switch is positioned at or near the end of the table section corresponding to the top point of the device when it is positioned inclined on the roof of a frame.
- this judgment 8 limit switch could consist of a swivel hook whose axis of pivot is loaded by spring, a stop mounted on the carriage causing retraction of the hook during mutual contact between said elements and then a recall of the hook in a position corresponding to a position of retaining the stop and consequently, the carriage, the stop is integral.
- other embodiments can still be designed in an equivalent manner.
- the end of travel stop 8 could, in an equivalent manner, be positioned directly on the carriage 5.
- the limit stop 8 is positioned at one either end of the cutting table depending on the direction of use of the cutting table as will be described below.
- the frame 2 consists of longitudinal members 2A assembled by crosspieces 2B delimiting the stroke of the carriage 5.
- the crossbars 2B comprise, in the vicinity of their feet, a plurality of notches 16 used for retaining and fixing the device 1, in particular on the battens of a frame.
- These 2B sleepers can also be fitted, near their base, with a pivoting part 15 provided with teeth or spikes intended to be plugged in in the battens of a frame in a determined angular position of the part 15 so as to obtain an immobilization of the apparatus.
- Frame 2 is made up of two series of beams.
- a first series of beams overcomes the cutting table 3.
- the apex of at least one of these beams 2A surmounting the cutting table 3 constitutes a cutting edge 9 forming anvil as mentioned above. So the operator can use the top of these beams in the manner of an anvil. To do this, he just needs to position the slate on said edge then, using a hammer 14, to cut the slate along said edge. Because the cutting table 3 does not has no projecting elements relative to the cutting edge 9, which is arranged offset, nothing interferes with such a cutting operation. This edge 9 of cut can also have a beveled profile.
- the second series of beams 2A is intended to allow the production of the cutting table. It results in extremely easy manufacture and assembly of the apparatus consisting simply of four beams and two crosspieces.
- the first and second series of spars are presented in the form of angle.
- these angles are assembled in such a way that their horizontal branches, extending substantially perpendicular to the cutting blade, are spaced from each other so as to form, by means of of their edges, the longitudinal slot 6 of the cutting table traversed by the cutting blade 4.
- the longitudinal members 2A surmounting the cutting table 3 are are also in the form of angles.
- the so-called branch horizontal angle extending substantially perpendicular to the plane of the cutting blade 4 is sandwiched between means 10A, such as rollers, for guiding the movement of the carriage 5.
- Additional means 10B for guide of the carriage 5 bear on the face delimiting the edge of said plugged.
- the latter comprises two grips shown in 7A and 7B. These two handles are alternatively usable by a left-handed or a right-handed person.
- the handle 7A as shown, is intended for a right-hander and cooperates with the judgment 8 positioned at P2 while the handle 7B is intended for a left-handed person and cooperates with the stop (not shown) positioned at P1.
- the carriage 5 comprises two more positions P1, P2 of the limit stops 8, each position P1, P2 located at or near one end of the cutting table 3 corresponding to the use of a handle 7A, 7B. The operator, depending on its laterality, will be positioned at one or the other of the ends of the apparatus of cutting to maneuver the cutting blade.
- These operating handles 7A, 7B have parts 11 A, 11B for gripping which fit into a V and cut the plane passing through the cutting blade 4 and the slot 6 for circulation of the cutting blade 4. This results in less operator fatigue whose gesture is perfectly natural during the slicing operation.
- the center of gravity of the grip part of each handle 7A, 7B extends substantially in line with the longitudinal slot 6 of circulation of the cutting blade.
- the handles 7A, 7B form a monobloc assembly affecting the shape of a bridge central pillar 12.
- the carriage end stop 8 is positionable at either end of the frame. It can also be provided with a device comprising two end stops 8 arranged at or at near each end of the cutting table.
- a cutting guide 13 affecting the shape general of a reporter.
- This cutting guide 13 has a light 14 curve inside which an immobilizing member 15 can be positioned of the guide fitting into the longitudinal slot 6 for circulation of the blade 4 of chopped off.
- this member 15 is constituted by a screw immobilized by means of a nut.
- the cutting guide 13 is further equipped a pivot axis 16 to choose the desired cutting angle before immobilizing the guide. The presence of such a pivot axis 16 improves the immobilization of the guide 13 cutting.
- the guide 13 comprises, at the ends of the protractor, surfaces 17 of reference constituting in each case supports for the material to be cut. These reference surfaces 17 extend on either side of a passage 18 of the cutting blade 4 inside the protractor.
- such a cutting guide 13 can be positioned at one or the other. of the ends of the cutting table according to the operating handle used depending on whether the operator is right-handed or left-handed. In other words, when the limit stop 8 is positioned at one end of the table, the cutting guide 13 will generally be positioned at the opposite end of the cutting table.
- the operator therefore tends, during this slicing operation, to train moving the carriage towards him, the operator being positioned at one end of the cutting table.
- the operator tends to move the carriage away from the end of the cutting table at which it is positioned to bring it back to the end position and immobilize it at by means of the end-of-travel stop 8 at a high point of the apparatus.
- the carriage remains immobilized at a high point thus releasing sufficiently space to perform the cutting operation.
