Armrest, particularly for office chairs, having an arm support (20) joined together from an upper shell (21) and a lower shell (25), with an insert plate (30) having a mounted latching insert (35) which is held by a holding clasp (31) being disposed in the cavity, and which has means for adjusting the length and width as well as for swivelling, with latching means for fixing the adjusted positions being provided, characterised in that at least one of the inner walls of a longitudinally extending edge (22) of the upper shell (21) having a number of latching troughs (23) located at a distance from one another is provided as latching means for fixing the length adjustment of the arm support (20), said latching troughs (23) interacting with a length adjusting spring (39), with the length adjusting spring (39) having a latching cam (39.2) on the end thereof.
  2. Armrest as claimed in Claim 1. characterised in that the end of the length adjusting spring (39) provided with the latching cam (39.2) has a bent-over portion (39.1) which is located approximately parallel to the inner wall of the longitudinally extending edge (22) of the upper shell (21).
  3. Armrest as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that both.inner walls of the longitudinally extending edge (22) of the upper shell (21) are provided with a number of latching troughs (23) located at a distance from one another and the length adjusting spring (39) is configured as a substantially symmetrical C profile and has, on both sides, a latching cam (39.2) on each end, with the ends of the length adjusting spring (39) provided with the latching cam (39.2) preferably having the bent-over portion (39.1).
  4. Armrest as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the latching troughs (23) and/or the latching cams (39.2) are limited in the displacement direction by inclined faces to facilitate the lifting out over the action of an inclined plane.
  5. Armrest as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the length adjusting spring (39) is configured as a plastic injection-moulded part and is manufactured from a thermoplastic polymer, preferably a polyoxymethylene.

Armrest, particularly for office chairs, having an arm support (20) joined together from an upper shell (21) and a lower shell (25), with an insert plate (30) having a mounted latching insert (35) which is held by a holding clasp (31) being disposed in the cavity, and which has means for adjusting the length and width as well as for swivelling, with latching means for fixing the adjusted positions being provided, characterised in that a release lever (33) is provided as latching means for fixing the swivel position of the arm support (20), said release lever (33) being disposed above the holding clasp (31) and connected thereto on one side, and the free end of which interacts with unlocking means (38), with the unlocking means (38) having an axis oriented transversely to the insert plate being swivellable by means of an actuating bar (38.2), such that a locking pin (33.1) which is guided through the holding clasp (31) is raised out of a latching recess (36.1) in the swivelling connecting link (36) of the latching insert (35) and is tensed elastically.
  7. Armrest as claimed in Claim 6, characterised in that the release lever (33) is configured as a plastic injection-moulded part and is manufactured from a thermoplastic polymer, preferably a polyoxymethylene.
