Definitions
- the invention relates to an internal combustion engine containing one or more cylinders in an engine block, a lubrication system with a lubricant collecting pan, at least one charge pump, part of which is at least one Charge pump to or from the at least one charge pump leading air duct is an integral part of the lubricant collection tray.
- the use of a charge pump is common in internal combustion engines Means to increase performance.
- the combustion air of the internal combustion engine not sucked in by the internal combustion engine, but with overpressure transported into the combustion chambers.
- the compression of the combustion air leads however, as is known, also for heating the combustion air.
- There the heated air has a lower density than cold air, is often used to increase the degree of cylinder filling the combustion air after the compression process cooled. This is usually done using a so-called charge air cooler.
- Air-air coolers are generally used as charge air coolers, however also air-water coolers connected to the cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine are known.
- the combustion air is in the diameter relatively large hoses or channels from the charge air pump via the Intercooler led to the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine.
- the internal combustion engine according to the invention is characterized by at least one, not intended for lubricants, but integrated in the lubricant tray Channel off, but no connection to the lubricant circuit of the internal combustion engine having.
- Channels integrated in the lubricant pan with the task Collecting or distributing lubricants are well known and are intended are not considered here.
- the at least one channel according to the invention can run both inside and outside the lubricant pan. So it is conceivable that z. B. in lubricant pans, which as a casting or injection molding are made in metal or plastic, the channel according to the invention with in the mold is shaped while z. B.
- the channel according to the invention as an original additional part inside or outside the lubricant pan z. B. by welding, gluing, soldering or Screws is connected to the lubricant pan.
- the course of the channel can be chosen freely, but you will usually pay attention to choose the course as short as possible.
- the at least one channel designed so that it is suitable for connecting combustion air hoses is.
- the channel runs inside the lubricant pan, well protected and does not restrict the ground clearance of a motor vehicle.
- the at least one channel is like this shaped that it for the passage of a coolant of an internal combustion engine suitable is.
- the advantages lie in the space-saving design or the protected course of the coolant line.
- a lubricant pan also provides a heating or cooling function imaginable.
- the channel takes over the function a hose duct.
- the at least one channel placed across a lubricant pan is particularly the case with transverse installations Internal combustion engines in motor vehicles advantageous to keep to the shortest To get away from the front of the engine to the back.
- the at least a channel is designed so that it clearly the rigidity of the lubricant pan elevated.
- Increasing the rigidity of the lubricant pan is often desired at z. B. to influence the sound pressure level of the internal combustion engine.
- Sheet metal can be used to increase the rigidity significantly using an additional channel achieve.
- the at least a channel designed so that it also acts as a resonator can take over.
- a resonator is often required to prevent unwanted pulsations to reduce the charge air pump in the combustion air system.
- the shelter inside the oil pan is therefore particularly space-saving.
- Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a part of a transverse installation Internal combustion engine 1 in the front view. A part of an engine block can be seen 2 and a lubricant pan 3, which are connected to one another by means of screws 4 are connected. The combustion air duct 5 according to the invention is in cross section shown.
- the combustion air is based on a Charge air pump 6 via a combustion air duct 8 through which with the Lubricant pan 3 connected combustion air channel 5 and one subsequent combustion air duct 8 'to a charge air cooler 7. about The combustion air then reaches another combustion air duct 8 ′′ Internal combustion engine 1, the further connection not being shown here.
- the Arrows serve to illustrate the direction of flow of the combustion air.
