Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a connector of two cables electrical energy and a connection comprising such a connector.
It concerns more precisely a connector of two cables of medium voltage electrical energy, each having a conductor surrounded by an insulating envelope and possibly a semiconductor layer, connector having tubular screw contacts and for to connect together the exposed ends of said conductors engaged in said contacts and held by means of screws.
A cable connection comprising such a connector is known to Patent Document GB 2,254,739. The connector used in this known cable connection is covered with an insulating sheath retractable to hot. The sheath is positioned above the connector and is retracted by heating then, after the heating operation, remains in position retracted. This sheath thus tends to take the form of the connector which is below it and the insulation of each cable. However, there are still free spaces at locations where the diameter change, ie between the insulating enclosure and the connector, as well as free spaces due to the irregular shape of the connector, in particular the heads of the screws. In this known solution, to fill the spaces free, an insulating putty sheet is wrapped around the connector before the retraction of the sheath.
The difference in diameter between the insulating envelope and the connector is essentially due to the fact that this set of screwed contacts generally covers a large range of sections, for example from 50 to 300 mm 2 , and is therefore larger than the insulating envelope. of each cable. Such a screw connector is for example known from
brevet EP 1 206 024.A solution has been proposed which is described in the
According to this prior solution, the connection is provided with two molded rubber semiconductor covers covering part of the insulation of the corresponding cable and joining each other above of the connector, each of said covers having an internal shape adapted to be engaged above the connector and to fill the space formed by the difference in size between the connector and the envelope insulation of the corresponding cable.
Such an arrangement provides a satisfactory electrical result but is problematic mounting. Indeed, these two covers separated from each other and separated from the connector must be threaded onto the front cable ends making the connection of the cables by the connector and then pushed back onto the connector before inserting the insulating sheath.
It has moreover been proposed in patent document DE 27 40 232 a connector of two electrical power cables, each comprising a conductor surrounded by an insulating envelope, a connector comprising tubular screwed contacts and intended to connect together the ends exposed drivers engaged in contacts and maintained at medium of screws. This connector has at its ends an extension part of the connector and intended to cover part of the envelope insulating cable. This recovery is of a length of the order of a few millimeters.
On medium voltage cables, the insulating envelope can be shrink over several millimeters and up to 10 mm. Such a connector is therefore not suited to ensure this recovery over time and in case of shrinkage of the insulating envelope, a conventional shrinkage on this type of cable, an empty space is created conducive to breakdowns as it was seen above.
The invention proposes to solve this technical problem and to this does it relates to a connector of two electrical power cables of medium voltage, each comprising a driver surrounded by a insulating jacket, connector having tubular screwed contacts and intended to connect together exposed ends of drivers engaged in the contacts and held by means of screws, connector having at least one end thereof an extension means integral with the connector and intended to cover part of the insulating envelope cable, characterized in that said covering means covers the insulating envelope over a length greater than 10 mm.
Solidarity of the connector, the extension means is disposed during setting up the connector, without additional manipulation.
De préférence, ledit moyen de recouvrement couvre l'enveloppe isolante sur une longueur comprise entre 10 et 20 mm.Preferably, said covering means covers the envelope insulation for a length of between 10 and 20 mm.
According to a preferred embodiment, said extension means has a rounded free end.
This means of extension protrudes above the envelope cable insulation or on this envelope and screen form in this area of end transition of the connector, where important electric fields exist, local electrical constraints may lead to discharges partial and faulty connection. Thanks to its free end rounded, the formed screen ensures a good distribution of the fields electric.
According to a first embodiment, the extension means is consisting of a rigid annular flange disposed at the periphery of the connector.
Preferably, the flange is an integral part of the connector.
According to a second embodiment, the extension means is consisting of a flexible semiconductor rubber skirt attached to the periphery of the connector.
The invention also relates to a connection of two cables of medium voltage electrical energy, each having at least one conductor surrounded by an insulating envelope, connection comprising a connector as specified above and an insulating sheath suitable for cover intimately at least the connector.
Advantageously, the space between the connector and the envelope insulation of the corresponding cable is filled with a layer of insulating mastic.
This layer of insulating putty is provided by the insulating sheath during its retraction and serves to fill any remaining air pockets.
Preferably, the space between the insulating mastic layer and each screw is filled with conductive mastic or a bonnet of semiconductor material.
The following description relates to the connection of two cables medium voltage of more than 10 kV. Although single conductor cables described, the invention also applies to multi-conductor cables.
