Definitions
- the invention relates to a flat keyboard for operating a electrically controlled device, for example one by hand held laser distance measuring device, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the dimensions of the front surface of the keyboard by the number of buttons, their area and arrangement to each other, the height of the keyboard is often the only degree of freedom to minimize size the keyboard.
- compact devices for example for a mobile, especially hand-held insert, today have flat keyboards, typically one Do not exceed the height of a few millimeters.
- Membrane keyboards exist at least from a frontal touch foil with several Tactile areas for triggering a function of each Keyboard, which tactile film is insoluble with a carrier element connected to an integral, ready-to-install control unit is that can be water or even gas-tight.
- the carrier element in turn can be used as a carrier board or be designed as a carrier film.
- membrane keyboards stand out - compared to alternative keyboard designs, for example Rubber body with protruding, tower-shaped rubber blocks or have attached, rigid key bodies - by a much cheaper production and a simple Fastening to the outer surface of the device housing, which is freely accessible. Membrane Switches are therefore often used for cheap products.
- a membrane keyboard known, which consists of several flat individual foils glued together.
- the Touch foil and the carrier foil with printed conductor tracks can further films, for example a Spacer film, a design film or an adhesive film be provided.
- the keyboard is a pre-made unit freely accessible from above on top of a Device housing - made of polycarbonate, for example and attached to the back of the keyboard Adhesive film by pressing in a simple way with the Glued housing.
- the connecting cables are passed through the bottom of the housing.
- the edge area of the Keyboard is glued all around to the case a tight connection between the tight Keyboard unit and the housing to achieve.
- keyboards - like that of the user is perceived - is based on a variety of criteria dependent. Finding, tactile feeling and especially the sensitivity when hitting the areas, those for triggering the individual functions of the keyboard are provided in addition to mechanical and / or acoustic feedback a very crucial Influence on the perceived ease of use. In particular by a critical size of the release force, by a little scattering of the same, due to a clearly noticeable Pressure point and a critical length of the stroke when triggering the functions of the keyboard this will Sensitivity positively influenced. Little defined states or a spongy behavior of the keyboard when triggered of functions, a long dead time between two attacks as well as abruptly occurring force peaks are, however, as felt uncomfortable.
- the specificity of membrane keyboards that the front membrane Trigger area of the tactile areas and top surface of the Input unit at the same time poses additional problems.
- the front film should on the one hand Touch areas have slightly flexible elastic areas and on the other hand the front film should be used as Cover surface must be resistant to abrasion and hard.
- the coherent surface of the front film is difficult Find the areas where the functions of the keyboard can be triggered. Surveys around or in these Areas that are embossed in the front film can be be helpful in finding the areas, stiffen but inevitably the front film is exactly in those areas which should actually be flexible when released.
- membrane keyboards have been in Some progress has been made in terms of ease of use. For example, higher levels were also possible with membrane keyboards critical trigger forces in combination with a noticeable Pressure point through the installation of trained as a cathedral Switch elements - so-called snap frogs - realized become. The operation of membrane keyboards is in the Practice still - compared to alternative ones Keyboard types - uncomfortable.
- the invention is therefore based on the object, defects of To fix the state of the art. So shallow keyboards be proposed, the improved ease of use exhibit.
- a flat keyboard according to the invention is fixed by a merged structure of essentially flat trained material layers formed.
- the celebration The assembled structure forms a ready-to-install unit with at least one touch area.
- the flat keyboard points at least one flat carrier material layer, at least one switching element and one essentially two-dimensional, soft elastic rubber or Plastic layer.
- At least a first and at least a second switch contact surface are on the Carrier material layer applied.
- the two Switch contact surfaces and the switching element are the Assigned sensing range, the switching element by a Release force - automatically resetting - deformable is. With such a deformation of the switching element creates an electrically conductive connection between the two switch contact surfaces, which makes the function of the Keyboard is triggered.
- the trigger force is over the front surface of the flat keyboard in the key area initiated.
- the soft elastic Rubber or plastic layer the switching element in the way assigned that the trigger force indirectly via the soft elastic rubber or plastic layer on the Switching element acts.
- the trigger force is usually a finger exercised by hitting the Front surface is pressed.
- the finger is on the Scanning range and the pressure is increased until the pressure force the critical magnitude of the release force reached. Now the switching element gives way and is deformed. Immediately after this deformation, the finger is Accelerated pushing towards the keyboard and stopped a little later.
- membrane keyboards according to the prior art when stopping from the Membrane keyboard exerted force on the fingers, which as be felt uncomfortable. According to the invention but now from the soft elastic rubber or Plastic layer due to their deformation for the most part collected. The finger now becomes one after triggering Function of the keyboard slowed down gently.
- the rubber or plastic layer essentially too flat - for example with a material thickness of less than a millimeter - trained, it can together with the switching element, the carrier layer and if necessary with other layers to a common ready-to-install unit - comparable to a membrane keyboard - be firmly joined together.
- the switching elements as domes are formed because these switching elements on the one hand relatively large trigger forces and on the other hand one erratic, bulging, buckling deformation is characteristic.
- a further development of the invention provides in the sensing area a support disc made of a rigid material on the Switching element facing away from the soft elastic rubber or Apply plastic layer.
- Such Support disc can be applied, for example, by on the side facing away from the switching element of the rubber or Plastic layer in the area of the release surface of the An epoxy resin is dripped on. Through the Surface tension automatically forms on the front convex support disc. This is used to differentiate in the area of the release surface of the soft elastic rubber - or plastic layer give a very high rigidity, the easily the stiffness of a few millimeters strong, tower-shaped rubber blocks made of hard rubber can surpass. The elastic flexibility in the edge area however, the tactile area is still retained.
- Another development of the invention sees one ram-shaped extension on the switching element facing side.
- a corresponding cross-sectional design of the extension Braking dynamics can be optimized in a targeted manner.
- an appropriately trained pestle Process in combination with a high rigidity in the Sensing range even with an eccentric application of force in the tactile range the trigger force to the center of the Switching element forwarded.
- a dome formed switching elements enables essentially constant size of the triggering force namely - in contrast to membrane keyboards of the prior art Technology - regardless of the exact position of the Release force within the tactile range.
- An alternative embodiment of an inventive Flat keyboard has a front with a transparent View area over which an advertisement can be read. at a correspondingly flat display would even be a flat keyboard conceivable, which has an integrated display has that can be controlled via additional conductor tracks. This would be a firmly assembled, ready-to-install operating and display unit can be implemented.
- Figure 1 shows a plan view of the front surface of a Embodiment of a development of the invention, for example a flat keyboard for a hand held laser rangefinder.
- a flat keyboard for a hand held laser rangefinder.
- This Flat keyboards are a small, square one 3 '' sensing area and a large, circular sensing area 3 '' '- each with different cross-sectional areas - intended.
- Via the square key area 3 '' and the circular sensing area 3 '' 'can for example Illumination of the display or the rangefinder of the Laser distance measuring device can be operated.
- a square support disc 6 '' or a circular one Support disc 6 '' ' here made of transparent epoxy resin.
- a cover layer 8 formed as a polycarbonate film, in of the two recesses for the two support disks 6 '' and 6 '' 'are provided.
- the material of the cover layer 8 can the specific requirements for a top surface correspondingly - for example a high abrasion resistance - be specifically selected. It is even possible to do the same Material for the cover layer and the housing of the Laser rangefinder to use and a uniform, to achieve a calm-looking device surface.
- Figure 2 shows a first detailed view of the Embodiment of Figure 1, the environment of the square sensing area 3 '' in the sectional view II-II represents. Click on the square touch area 3 '' here centrically a trigger force 4 over the front surface initiated.
- the exemplary embodiment is shown in the detail shown a carrier material layer 1 designed as a PET film, a spacer film 12, the silicone mat trained, soft elastic rubber or plastic layer 5, the cover layer 8, the square support disk 6 ′′, a fastening layer 9, two double-sided adhesive Rubber adhesive films 13, a fixing film 14 and a dome trained switching element 2.
- a carrier material layer 1 designed as a PET film, a spacer film 12, the silicone mat trained, soft elastic rubber or plastic layer 5, the cover layer 8, the square support disk 6 ′′, a fastening layer 9, two double-sided adhesive Rubber adhesive films 13, a fixing film 14 and a dome trained switching element 2.
- the attachment layer 9 here as a double-sided adhesive film - for example with a Film thickness of 0.05 millimeters - formed.
- the carrier material layer 1 put together and on the other hand is a protective paper attachable, which is removed when the flat keyboard is installed becomes.
- the carrier material layer 1 is likewise in a known manner as a PET film - for example with a film thickness of 0.1 Millimeters - formed and with the spacer film 12 - for example with a film thickness of 0.22 millimeters - glued together.
- a recess in the spacing film 12 for each one switching element 2 here concentric to each the key areas 3 '' and 3 '' '.
- the switching element 12 will here over the fixing film 14, with the spacer film 12 is glued together, fixed locally.
- this is essentially flat trained rubber or plastic layer 5 the Assigned switching element 2.
- this soft elastic Rubber or plastic layer 5 acts the triggering force 4, which is introduced via the front surface, indirectly on the Switching element 2.
- the rubber or plastic layer 5 with the fixing film glued together Over which one of the rubber adhesive sheets 13 is here the rubber or plastic layer 5 with the fixing film glued together.
- the rubber or trained here as a silicone mat Plastic layer 5 has a different layer thickness and in the center of the sensing area 3 '' a pestle-shaped Extension 7, which is directed against the switching element 2.
- This plunger-shaped extension 7 the indirect Initiation of the release force 4 directly in the center of the as a cathedral trained switching element 2 guaranteed. This contributes to Constancy of the size of the release force.
- the layer thickness is, for example, 0.6 Millimeters and in the area of the tappet-shaped extension 7 approx. 1 millimeter.
- the area of the silicone mat below the Support disc 6 '' is over a circumferential web - with a Layer thickness of, for example, 0.25 millimeters - with the Area connected outside the touch area 3 ''.
- the cover film 8 with the Rubber or plastic layer 5 connected.
- Figure 3 shows a second detailed view of the Embodiment of Figure 1, which the environment of the circular sensing area 3 '' 'in the sectional view III-III represents.
- Figure 2 there are also Periphery of the flat keyboard according to the invention and the Connection of the conductor tracks 10 shown. Also the Release force 4 here eccentrically in the circular Scanning range 3 '' 'initiated.
- the soft elastic rubber or plastic layer 5 is sufficient in the periphery of the flat keyboard all around the firmly assembled foil package Backing material layer 1, spacer film 12, fixing film 14 and rubber adhesive films 13 and is thereby here with the Attachment layer 9 directly adhesive in the periphery together.
- the rubber or plastic layer 5 and the Fastening layer 9 encapsulates the inside hermetically the flat keyboard.
- Flat keyboard is particularly suitable for a dense Installation in a housing from the outside.
- the recess in the Fastening layer 9 for a passage of the conductor tracks 10 is to be provided advantageously within the periphery.
- the area of the soft elastic rubber or Plastic layer 5 below the support disks 6 '' and 6 '' ' can be applied in front of the 6 '' and 6 '' 'support washers familiar with - for example, that in Figure 1 visible - symbols are printed.
