Die Faserplatten weisen mindestens eine Sichtseite auf, wobei die Faserplattenteile zumindest abschnittsweise entlang einer Verbindungskante durch einen Kleber oder einen Klebestreifen miteinander verbunden sind. Aufgrund dieser Ausbildung bilden beide Plattenelemente eine Einheit, wobei diese faltbar gestaltet sind. Hierzu weisen die Plattenelemente wenigstens eine profilierte Seitenkante auf, die als Verbindungskanten derart profiliert sind, so dass sich eine geeignete Auflage- und Haftfläche ergibt, auf die dann der verbindende Klebestreifen aufgebracht wird. Im Bereich des Klebestreifens ergibt sich eine Schwenkachse, um welche die beiden Plattenelemente gefaltet oder geschwenkt werden können. Ein Fußbodenbelagselement aus zwei zueinander faltbaren Paneelen zeigt die EP 1 275 795. Damit ergibt sich ein männlicher und ein weiblicher Verbindungskantenbereich, wodurch in Folge seiner formschlüssigen Verbindung auch eine Aussteifung des Kantenbereiches erzielt wird.
