The present invention relates to a lighting system comprising at least one decorative transparent element having at least one bore, at least one light source for illuminating the at least one decorative transparent element, and a mechanical support extending into the bore for holding or suspending the at least one decorative transparent element wherein the light source (s) is (are) disposed in the bore (s) of the decorative transparent element (s) and the power supply to the light source (s) via the respective holder, wherein the bore (s) of the decorative transparent element (s) when assembled extend in a substantially horizontal direction.

Lighting systems with a decorative, transparent element, for example in the form of a piece of jewelry have long been known. The placement of a light source on or in the decorative, transparent element enhances its aesthetic appeal by the multiple reflections and refractions of the light emerging from the decorative, transparent element.

The bracket is outside the hole. The GB 2 253 129 shows an earring in which a light source is incorporated in the transparent element. The EP 0 192 458 A2 shows a luminous system in which lead between two halves of the transparent element conductor to the light source. The conductors are also used for the suspension of the lighting system. The US 2001/0055205 shows a collar with a lighted decorative element and a battery, wherein the power supply to the element from the battery via the tape. The US 2001/0033485 shows an ear stud with a rod-shaped carrier, a decorative element and a battery as a counterweight.

The object of the invention is to provide a structurally simple and visually appealing lighting system, with the ability to replace defective light sources. This is made possible by a lighting system having the features of claim 1 and by a mechanical support having the features of claim 13.

Economically and technically advantageous in this invention is the ability to introduce the light source in the previously required for the mechanical support hole in the decorative, transparent element, which avoids the costly and technically complex modification of existing production facilities. Particularly advantageous, a conventional Lusterbehang can be used with a bore unchanged. The hole performs a dual function, namely the recording of the holder (as before) and the light source. This not only has the advantage that the light source does not have a separate socket needed. Rather, there is a good light input into the decorative transparent element on the inside of the bore light source.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention results from the fact that a light emitting diode (LED) is selected as the light source. This combines a compact design and a large luminosity with low power consumption.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention results from the fact that a light-emitting diode is sunk in a recess provided for this purpose on the part of the mechanical holder located in the bore. This allows the placement of a light source in an originally unconventional, decorative, transparent element.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention results from the fact that the decorative, transparent element of the lighting system has a plurality of blind holes, in each of which a light-emitting diode can be mounted. This allows the uniform internal illumination of larger decorative, transparent elements.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention results from the fact that the mechanical support of the lighting system is executed in the region of the decorative, transparent element in the form of two under spring tension stirrup, which allow a non-positive detection of the light introduced into the respective bore light sources. This results in a particularly high level of user-friendliness due to the possibility of replacing defective light sources quickly.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention results from the fact that the mechanical support consists at least largely of glass fiber reinforced plastic, preferably epoxy resin. As a result, a mechanical support is realized with favorable mechanical properties at low weight.

According to the invention, the mechanical support in the region of the decorative, transparent element is designed as an elongated bracket. This allows mounting multiple light sources in the same hole.

A further advantageous embodiment of the invention results from the fact that the mechanical support on two opposite sides over the entire length is at least partially covered with an electrically conductive layer. The presence of conductive layers allows the wireless power supply of light sources contacted by the mechanical support, which is aesthetically advantageous.

According to the invention, the mechanical support in the region of the bore facing away, free end is formed as a hanger. A further advantageous embodiment of the invention results from the fact that the hanger has electrically conductive contact surfaces, which are each connected to a conductive layer. This allows the lighting system to be releasably suspended on an arbitrarily shaped busbar, the force of gravity acts as a pressing force and makes a costly screwing or jamming of the lighting system on the busbar superfluous. The avoidance of a technically complex connection of the lighting system with an external power source leads to a low susceptibility. Particularly advantageous in this embodiment is the ability to arrange multiple lighting systems at arbitrary locations on the same power rail.
