Während des Umspurvorganges stützt sich das Fahrzeuggewicht über Gleitkufen an der Achsbrücke auf die Umspuranlage ab, so daß die Radeinheiten entlastet sind und mit geringem Kraftaufwand verschoben werden können. Der H-förmig ausgebildete und beispielsweise aus geschweißten Kastenprofilen
zusammengesetzte Rahmen 7 des Fahrwerks hat Längsträger 7.1 und
