  • the spacing between adjacent inlet openings is also of the order of 0.5 millimeters. If one considers the width dimension of the printhead 516 as the X dimension with a length of the printhead as a Y dimension the ink supply member 726 effectively functions as an adapter converting a small X dimension into a much larger Y dimension. Accordingly, it is easier to fabricate the feed passages of the ink feed arrangement 702, which is a plastic molding, than would be the case if the ink feed arrangement fed the ink directly into the wafer 724 of the printhead 516.

Claims (2)

  1. Ensemble d'alimentation en encre pour une tête d'impression (516) d'une imprimante, la tête d'impression comprenant un réseau de dispositifs d'éjection d'encre à systèmes microélectromécaniques (MEMS) montés sur une première surface d'une tranche et une pluralité de passages d'alimentation en encre (734) s'étendant chacun à travers la tranche d'une surface opposée de la tranche à un dispositif d'éjection d'encre respectif, les dispositifs d'éjection d'encre étant agencés en groupes, caractérisé par le fait qui :
    l'ensemble d'alimentation en encre comprend :
    - un bloc de silicium (726) lié à ladite surface opposée de la tranche, le bloc ayant une pluralité de canaux (728) définis dans celui-ci, chaque canal débouchant dans une première surface du bloc en butée contre ladite surface opposée de la tranche et débouchant dans une seconde surface (746) du bloc opposée à la première surface ;
    - une partie de dos (704) ; et
    - un boîtier (706) monté sur la partie de dos,
    la partie de dos et le boîtier définissant entre eux des galeries d'alimentation en encre (708) destinées à recevoir de l'encre d'une cartouche et destinées à distribuer de l'encre par l'intermédiaire de passages (710) aux canaux (728) dans le bloc de silicium (726),
    et la partie de dos et le boîtier étant en outre formés à partir d'une matière plastique moulée.
  2. Ensemble d'alimentation en encre selon la revendication 1, qui comprend un moyen d'isolation (744) destiné à isoler chaque ouverture d'entrée d'encre de son ouverture voisine.
