  • the main drawback of said known device consists in that the means fit for the counterbalancing frequently cause too hard or too yielding movements of the door, and sudden blocks or clog of the latter, particularly in correspondence of quick movements.
  • the main object of the present invention is to propose a counterbalanced and braked hinge device for a door particularly for household electrical appliances and the like, fit for counterbalancing said door, countering its weight and allowing to block this latter in any extreme and intermediate position, with smooth and silent operation.
  • Further object is to propose a hinge device fit for counterbalancing doors having varying weight in an interval of several kilograms without needing regulations or settings.
  • Another object of the invention is to propose a hinge device having great constructive simplicity and small encumbrance, as well as economically convenient.

  • the device 100 includes balancing means 11, consisting for instance in a spring 33 stressed and reacting in extension or compression, and cam means 15 constituted by a shaped plate having approximately a triangular shape.
  • An end of the balancing means 11 is fixed to the appliance body and the remaining end is fixed to a vertex of the plate of the cam means 15, a second vertex of which is rotatably cascade connected to articulated members 8 and to the support mean 2. Consequently a related movement of the cam means 15, countered by the balancing means 11, corresponds to each movement of the door from the closing condition C to the opening condition A and vice versa.

  • the sliding blocks, first 36 and second 16, slide respectively with the articulated members 8 and the cam means 15 between two walls 12 of the connection mean 1.
  • the walls 12 are reciprocally almost parallel and perpendicular to the plane defined by the connection mean 1.
  • the articulated members 8 consist of a first shaped lever 22 whose ends are rotatably connected respectively to a vertex of the plate 15 and to the support mean 2.
  • the balancing means 11 and the articulated members 8 transmit to the cam means 15 respectively an elastic closing force and a reaction force. These opposed forces cause on the cam means 15 a torque, which rotates said cam means 15. The torque of the rotation forces is transmitted by the cam means 15 and by the articulated members 8 to the friction means 14, which consequently transmit a reaction torque to the walls 12. Then each friction mean 14 exerts a pressure against the respective wall 12, originating mutual frictions, particularly generating friction and counterbalancing the door.
  • connection mean 1 The free longitudinal edges of the walls 12 are folded inwards the connection mean 1, namely each one towards the other, and have a protrusion 13 in correspondence of the edge, in such way to avoid the disengagement of the friction means 14 from the walls 12.
  • the first and second sliding blocks 36 and 16 are made of material, for instance plastic, characterized by a determined friction coefficient to create friction forces such as to counterbalance an overall weight of the door and/or panel ranging from 2 to 12 kilograms.
  • the hinge device 100 also includes a block mean 25 and a stop mean 26 respectively carried out in the connection mean 1 and in the support mean 2.
  • the stop mean 26 mate the block mean 25 in correspondence of the maximum opening condition A.
  • the device further includes sliding means 24 of the support mean 2 and interposed between this latter and the connection mean 1 in order to avoid, slidingly mating the latter, excessive transversal slacks of the door.
  • the door stresses the hinge with a progressively increasing opening torque, since the weight of the door operates with a progressively increasing arm.
  • the friction means 14, being positioned in correspondence of the cam means 15 and the articulated members 8, exert against the respective walls 12 rather varying pressures with respect to the position and weight of the door and they guarantee a braking effect powerful but smooth, without jams and vibrations and suitable for stopping the door even in conditions adjacent to the maximum opening condition A.
  • the linking means 30 are constituted by a crank 4 and by an arm 6.
  • An end of the crank 4 is hinged by a fulcrum mean 38 and the remaining end is rotatably connected to the support mean 2 by means of a first pin 3.
  • An end of the arm 6 is hinged to the connection mean 1 by means of a second pivot 9 and the remaining end is rotatably connected to the support mean 2 by means of a second pin 7.
  • the fulcrum mean 38, the second pivot 9 and the pins, first 3 and second 7, have respectively fulcrums and axes orthogonal to the plane of the connection mean 1.
  • the fulcrum mean 38 is fixed closer to the door than the second pivot 9 and it is fixed at the bottom of the second pivot 9.
  • the first pin 3 is positioned in proximity of a lower peripheral portion of the support mean 2 and the second pin 7 is in a more central position in comparison to the longitudinal extension of the support mean 2.
  • the distance between the fulcrum mean 38 and the second pivot 9, is bigger than the distance between the pins, first 3 and second 7, so that it causes, in the passage from a closing condition C of the door to a maximum opening condition A of said door, firstly a raising and a separation of the latter from the related opening of the dishwasher or the appliance.
  • articulated members 8 are constituted by a connecting rod 20 whose ends are rotatably connected respectively to the first pin 3 and to a first end of a rocking lever 21, which is hinged in the middle to the connection mean 1 through a third pivot 23.
  • the ends of a second lever 32 of the articulated members 8 are rotatably connected respectively to the second end of the rocking lever 21 and to the cam means 15 to convert the motion of the support mean 2 in a linear motion of the cam means 15.
  • the walls 12, rather than being parallel, can have a convergent shape.
  • the convergence in the direction approximately of the first pivot 5 progressively increases the pressure exerted by the friction means 14 against the walls 12 and therefore the frictions in the passage from the closing condition C to the maximum opening condition A.
  • the main advantage of the present invention is to provide a counterbalanced and braked hinge device for a door particularly for household electrical appliances and the like, fit for counterbalancing said door, countering its weight and allowing to block this latter in any extreme and intermediate position, without jams, blocks or noisy vibrations.
