Definitions

  • the invention relates to an earmold or an earmold for behind-the-ear (BTE) devices in the field of hearing acoustics. These devices are often referred to as so-called BTE Secret Ears (SE).
  • BTE Secret Ears SE
  • SE BTE Secret Ears
  • the sound tube must be positioned exactly in or on the ear canal, to which an ear piece or an ear mold is regularly used, which is adapted individually to the human anatomy of the ear of the patient to be treated.
  • Various forms of otoplastic have prevailed to date, with some, namely the so-called “open” BTE earmolds being particularly preferred in order to minimize the risk of misplacement of the auditory canal by a "foreign body" or in some areas.
  • This "open" BTE supply has the advantage that the remaining capacity of the hearing is impaired in their naturalness as low as possible.
  • SE-cup shape, SE-clip shape or SE-claw shape are known as "SE-cup shape, SE-clip shape or SE-claw shape" (see Ulrich Voogdt: Otoplasty - The individual earmould for hearing aid supply ..., Volume 2 of the scientific book series “Academy for hearing aid acoustics” Median-Verlag of Killisch-Horn GmbH, 1993).
  • SE-cup shape, SE-clip shape or SE-claw shape see Ulrich Voogdt: Otoplasty - The individual earmould for hearing aid supply ..., Volume 2 of the scientific book series “Academy for hearing aid acoustics” Median-Verlag of Killisch-Horn GmbH, 1993).
  • a variant of these common earmoulds is the "open” solution. However, all variants have in common that it is often not possible to reproduce the hearing correction as naturally as possible.
  • the additional advantages are that the wearing comfort (material-free area in the area of the crus helicis, no heat build-up) is extremely good, that the earmold requires very little material and therefore also cosmetic benefits, and that the acoustic coupling to the frequency and Dynamics-influencing can be done without complications.
  • the proposed earmold takes up less space, it can reliably fulfill the function of stabilizing the sound tube by utilizing the coupling of the sound tube to the BTE device for stabilization.
  • this otoplasty is particularly suitable in addition to "open" standard applications for applications in children with monotony deafness or eg in normal hearing students with a so-called read-spelling weakness in conjunction with so-called FM (frequency modulation) systems in which the Speech signal of the teacher via microphone and a microport system is fed into the ear canal of the hearing impaired child.
  • FM frequency modulation
  • the design of the edge of the auricle arcuately cross bracket is used for additional stabilization of the earmold.
  • the stabilization of the main body is further improved, thereby further reducing the size of the main body. At the same time, this improves the wearing comfort and also has advantages in terms of cosmetics.
  • a so-called continuous standard tube or a "Libby horn” is used in BTE systems to avoid impedance jumps in the acoustic feed line.
  • this hose is encased by a plastic on the auditory side end and provided with a holder or support, for example in the form of a ring, tire, clasp or claw part.
  • a holder or support for example in the form of a ring, tire, clasp or claw part.
  • the invention also takes into account the individually present anatomical conditions, while at the same time ensuring that the acoustic correction remains optimally when wearing the earmold.
  • the development according to claim 4 is the most cosmetically demanding variant.
  • the invention has the advantage that in special special applications, such as e.g. can be used without complications if there is a very narrow auditory canal or strong terminal hairiness in the ear canal or other anomalies of the ear anatomy.
  • the earmold which is individually adjusted to the anatomy of the patient by an impression method, for example, which is highlighted by hatching, is designated by reference numeral 120. It is arranged so that the Cavum conchae remains completely free. Instead, the otoplastic is in the region of the cymbal conchae 50, in the case shown with an extension in the area of Crus anthelicis 52, 54 arranged.
  • the otoplastic is individually adapted to the anatomy of the patient and consists essentially of two components, namely a holding part 156, which is accommodated positively sunk in the Cymba conchae 50, and a rim 58 of the auricle arcuately overlapping mound 160 which at his End forms the holder for the flexible sound tube 128.
  • the sound tube 128 is - as shown in Fig. 7 - angled out into the interior of the ear canal 26 and there, for example, carry a so-called Cerumdefender 162.
  • this embodiment of the earmold leaves the auditory canal virtually uninfluenced.
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 an earmold used in practice is shown enlarged. It clearly shows the multi-curved surface design of the main body, which is responsible for the custom-fit and secure fit in the Cymba conchae.
  • the embodiment of Fig. 3, 4 has been made for a patient in which the Cymba conchae is designed very large volume.
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 show a further earmold which was used in a patient with a considerably smaller cymbal conchae.
  • the otoplastic designated 220 has a much smaller main body 256, which, however, in turn is spatially curved several times, so that the required undercut with the surface of the ear comes about.
  • FIG. 7 shows a first embodiment of the earmold according to the invention, which enables anatomically optimized stabilization of the sound tube in the area of entry into the auditory canal.
  • the same reference numerals are used, preceded by a "4" instead of "1" or "2".
  • rim 458 of the auricle arc-shaped cross-over bracket 460 is pivoted from the direction indicated by a dot-dash line position down so that it virtually bridges the upper portion of the crus helicopters 424.
  • Figures 8 to 10 show in detail this first embodiment of the earmold.
  • Reference numeral 461 denotes a sound tube that stabilizes a sound tube 428. The arrangement is such that the sonic tubing eyelet 461 extends immediately above the incisura anterior 425, i. located between the tragus 427 and the crus helicis 424.
  • the embodiment corresponds to the earmold according to FIGS. 1 to 6, i. half of the otoplastic body is housed in the cymba, while the other half below the helix 431 can pass over the Crus Inferior Anthelicis 433 in the direction of the Fossa Triangularis 435. This is illustrated, for example, in FIG.
  • FIGS. 11 and 12 show a second variant of the earmold according to the invention - as indicated in FIG. 7.
  • the same reference numbers are used to simplify the description for sections and components which have a counterpart in FIGS Preceded by "5".
  • the arrangement is such that a holder 561 for the sound tube 528 between the incisors anterior 525 and the tragus 527 is recessed in the entrance area of the ear canal 526.
  • the bracket 560 is even steeper than in the embodiment of Figures 8 to 10.
  • FIGS. 13 and 14 show a further variant of the modification of the earmold according to FIG. 7. Again, to simplify the description of sections and components which have a counterpart in FIGS. 1 to 6, the same reference numerals are used, preceded by a "6" here is.
  • the difference from the variant according to FIGS. 11 and 12 consists in that the sound tube holder is formed by an auditory canal pin 644 which is arranged contactlessly in the upper region of the auditory canal and which encloses the sound tube 628 or an otoplastic angle piece.
  • FIGS. 15 and 16 show a modification of the variants of FIGS. 11 to 14 such that a further improvement of the stabilization of the otoplastic results.
  • the sound tube holder 744 is stabilized by means of a supporting claw 780, indicated hatched, which extends from the underside of the sound tube holder 744 in the direction of the antitragus 730, wherein it conforms to the concha 722.
  • inventive earmolds such as. hot and cold-curing PMMA or light polymer. Due to the small volume of the otoplastic, in particular, colored designs may also be suitable for jewelry applications. But metals, such as stainless steel, gold, silver, platinum, titanium (injection molding or centrifugal casting process) can be used, and it is also possible to work with the electroplating.
