Abstract
Description
- This request for Patent is for an improved deckchair, of the type specifically designed for use on the beach, in the countryside, gardens, swimming pools and similar, that provides various advantages as regards the function for which it is intended, to be explained later on, apart from others inherent to its organization and constitution.
- At present and as a reference to the state-of-the-art, mention should be made that deckchairs of the type described are known, consisting of a framework that includes two basic parts, one permanent consisting of the legs and the bed, and the other which is movable and associated to the former consisting of an adjustable back with position handles on each side.
- At present the means that provide the optional adjustment for tilting the back until a flat angle is formed generally consist in an articulated bridge provided on both sides with a series of teeth that form a series of attachments on a crosspiece.
- The improved deckchair, purpose of this invention, is constituted by a monobloc chassis, a back and an adjustable support frame of the back that articulates with it, facilitating successive slanting of said back until it is completely folded.
- The seat of the deckchair has elongated openings in its front and back crosspieces to attach the ends of a plasticized, heat-welded and transpirable canvas, provided with orifices or perimetral buttonholes. These, together with orifices surrounding the deckchair, permit the canvas to be attached by means of zigzag lacing. Another row of orifices has been provided on said front and back crosspieces for optional mounting of small boards that are also transversally secured by tongue and groove means to alternatively replace the canvas.
- The chassis is flat with rounded edges and the inside edges of the supports (legs of the deckchair) are also rounded to avoid, when the deckchairs are stacked, in the event the support of the unit to be placed on an upper level accidentally grazes the cloth of the deckchair on the lower level, that the latter is not damaged. In the meantime, the deckchair has stacking butts, also rounded, with the peculiarity that three different performance alternatives of the deckchair can be obtained from the same mold by means of respective changes in its central part permitting its stacking. It has V-shaped supports with truncated vertexes that prevent the deckchair from rocking as much as possible and, according to the performance alternative, will be six or four with the latter case having a version with armrests or side reinforcements.
- Likewise, extractable wheels have been provided on ends supports for moving the deckchair, as well as replaceable nonskid supports able to be installed on all the supports and that can be transversally tilted to obtain a maximum support surface of all the supports.
- Design of the chassis is such that two or more deckchairs can be stacked in such a way the lower part of the upper deckchair chassis rests on the lower deckchair chassis part where the central legs join and not on the canvas.
- As regards the back and adjustable support frame, these are characterized by the fact that the back is joined by its lower ends to the chassis by means of two levers permitting it to be turned, whilst said back articulates through its intermediate back part with the upper ends of the support frame. This has, at the end of its sides and in an intermediate zone, projections capable of alternately fitting into successive holes in the sides of the chassis. This enables the back to have various positions until it becomes completely flat, with the peculiarity that for this last position there is play between the back and the chassis that prevents the fingers from becoming trapped.
- The front crosspieces of the chassis and back have a combined clip type fastener that prevents the back from accidentally rising when pressure is put on the canvas.
- Furthermore, an electronic chip or other similar device for identification as regards renting and complete control of the deckchair is included on the back or front part of the chassis.
- Finally, it should be mentioned that any of the performance alternatives of the deckchair could include a cover in the form of a sunshade on its back.
- To complement the description which follows and in order to help with a better understanding of its characteristics, this descriptive report includes a set of drawings the figures of which represent the most significant details of the invention in an illustrative but not limiting way.
-
- Figures 1, 2 and 3 show perspective views of the respective performance alternatives of the deckchair.
- Figure 4 shows a side view of the stacking of various deckchairs.
- Figure 5 shows a floor view in which the arrangement of the canvas on the deckchair is indicated.
- Figure 6 shows a perspective view of the deckchair in which the arrangement of its small boards is indicated.
- Figure 7 shows a section view of a support provided with an extractable wheel.
- Figures 8 and 9 shows section views of the respective performance alternatives of the replaceable nonskid supports.
- Figures 10 and 11 shows front and back perspective views of the deckchair with the back raised at a certain angle.
- Figure 12 shows a perspective view of the back.
- Figure 13 shows a back perspective view in detail of the deckchair with the back raised at a certain angle.
-
- In view of the figures commented above and in accordance with the numbering used, a performance example of the invention can be seen consisting of an improved deckchair constituted by a monobloc chassis -1-, a back -2- and an adjustable articulating support frame -3- of the back that enables said back to be tilted at various angles until it becomes completely flat.
- The deckchair has two openings -4- on its front and back crosspieces to attach the ends of a plasticized, heat-welded and transpirable canvas -5-, provided with orifices or perimetral buttonholes -5a- that, together with orifices -6- surrounding the deckchair, permit the canvas to be attached by means of zigzag lacing -7-. Another row of orifices -8- has been provided on said front and back crosspieces for optional mounting of small boards -9- that are also transversally secured by tongue and groove means to alternatively replace the canvas.
- The chassis -1- is flat and with rounded edges, with the peculiarity that three different performance alternatives -1a-, -1b- and -1c- of the chassis can be obtained from the same mold by means of respective changes in its central part permitting its stacking. It has V-shaped supports with truncated vertexes that prevent the deckchair from rocking as much as possible and, according to the performance alternative, will be six for version -1c- or four, with the latter case having a version -1b-with armrests or side reinforcements.
- Likewise, extractable wheels -10a- have been provided on end supports for moving the deckchair, as well as replaceable nonskid supports -10b able to be installed on all the supports -10- and that on a performance model -10c can be transversally tilted to obtain a maximum support surface of all the supports.
- Design of the chassis -1- is such that two or more deckchairs can be stacked in such a way the lower part of the upper deckchair chassis rests on the lower deckchair chassis part where the central legs join and not on the canvas.
- The back -2- and the adjustable support frame -3- are mounted in such a way that the back -2- is joined by its lower ends to the chassis -1- by means of two levers-11- thus permitting it to be turned, whilst said back -2- articulates through its intermediate back part with the upper ends of the support frame -3-. This has, at the end of its sides and in an intermediate zone, projections -12a- -12b- capable of alternately fitting into successive holes -13- in the sides of the chassis. This enables the back -2- to have various positions until it becomes completely flat. In this last position there is play between the back -2- and the chassis -1- that prevents the fingers from becoming trapped.
- The front crosspieces of the chassis -1- and back -2- have a combined clip type fastener -14a- -14b- that prevents the back from accidentally rising when pressure is put on the canvas.
- An electronic chip or other similar device for identification, which is not represented in the drawings, as regards renting and complete control of the deckchair is included on the back or front part of the chassis.
