Sein hinterer Arm 44 beaufschlagt mit seinem freien Ende von oben den vorderen Arm 45 des zweiten, im folgenden als Übertragungshebel bezeichneten Hebels 40. Zwischen diesem Arm 45 und der Unterfläche 16 des Vorderkantenteils 7 ist eine Schraubendruckfeder 46 eingespannt, die die gesamte Hebelanordnung in Richtung einer Arretierung der Raststößels 34 in einem der Rastlöcher 36 beaufschlagt. In den Zeichnungen ist dabei die ausgelöste Stellung der Doppelhebelanordnung D dargestellt. Der ebenfalls doppelarmig ausgeführte Übertragungshebel 40 ist in einem Drehlager 47 schwenkbar gelagert, wobei seine Achse 48 die innere Seitenwand 49 des Schenkelbereichs 9 des Vorderkantenteils 7 über eine nicht näher dargestellte Lageröffnung durchsetzt. Durch diesen Querversatz liegt der hintere Arm 50 des Übertragungshebels 40 im Bereich des Vorsprunges 10 des Basisteils 2 und erstreckt sich dort zum Raststößel 34 hin. Ein seitlicher Vorsprung 45 am hinteren Arm 50 greift zwischen zwei Stege 52, 53 seitlich am Raststößel 34 ein, so daß eine Kopplung zwischen dem hinteren Arm 50 des Übertragungshebels 40 und dem Raststößel 34 erfolgt, die ein Schwenkspiel dieser beiden Bauteile zueinander zuläßt. Da ferner der Raststößel 34 mit seinem oberen Ende etwa auf der Höhe der Schwenkachse 11 des Vorderkantenteils 7 angeordnet ist, kann sich der Vorsprung 51 bei einem Abklappen des Vorderkantenteils 7 zwischen den beiden Stegen 52, 53 leicht um den Abklappwinkel verschwenken, ohne auf den Raststößel 34 Auswirkung zu nehmen.   1. A seat carrier, in particular for office chairs, comprising

    - a front edge component (7) which is articulated to the base member (2) for pivoting about a horizontal transverse axis (11) between an elevated normal position and a downwardly bent pivoted position;
    characterized
    - by a locking mechanism (22) which is integrated into the front edge component (7),
    -- fixing the front edge component (7) in its normal position and in its position pivoted in relation to the base member (2), and
    -- the operating element (18) of which is disposed in the bottom (16) of the front edge component (7) and accessible from below.
  2. A seat carrier according to claim 1, characterized in that the locking mechanism (22) comprises at least one snap-in locking bolt (23) which is movable in the longitudinal direction (L) of the seat and which is able to engage with complementary locking recesses (24) of the base carrier (5).
  3. A seat carrier according to claim 2, characterized in that the operating element is a non-latching key (18) which is positioned in the front edge component (7) pivotably about a shaft (20), the shaft (20) being drivably coupled with the at least one snap-in locking bolt (23).
  4. A seat carrier according to claim 3, characterized in that the shaft (20), which is lodged in the front edge component (7) above the at least one snap-in locking bolt (23) is articulated to the at least one snap-in locking bolt (23) by way of a coupling clip (26) which projects there-from.
  5. A seat carrier according to claim 4, characterized in that the coupling clip (26) passes through a slot (27) in the at least one snap-in locking bolt (23), having pivoted play.
  6. A seat carrier according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the front edge component (7) is spring-loaded (14) in the direction of its normal position.
  7. A seat carrier according to claim 2, characterized in that the shaft (20) is provided with a locking clip (30) which cooperates with two complementary locking cams (31, 32), fixing the operating element (18) in its locked and released position.
  8. A seat carrier according to one of claims 1 to 7, comprising a base member (2) which is displaceable in the longitudinal direction (L) on a base carrier (5) for seat depth adjustment, characterized in that a second operating element (37) is preferably disposed in the bottom (16) of the front edge component (7), releasing a locking device (34) for longitudinal adjustment which is operable and capable of working regardless of the pivoted position thereof.
  9. A seat carrier according to claim 8, characterized in that the locking device for seat depth adjustment comprises a snap-in locking pin (34) which is vertically engageable with complementary locking holes (36) of the base carrier (5) and the engaging motion of which is controllable by way of an articulated lever arrangement (D) in the front edge component (7), the articulated lever arrangement (D) extending substantially in the longitudinal direction.
  10. A seat carrier according to claim 9, characterized in that the snap-in locking pin (34) is disposed in a longitudinal position on the base member (5) of the seat carrier (1), with that longitudinal position substantially corresponding to the longitudinal position of the pivoting axis (11) between the base member (2) and front edge component (7).
  11. A seat carrier according to claim 8 or 9, characterized in that, being an operating lever (39) of the articulated lever arrangment (D), the front lever is provided, at its front end (41), with the operating element (37) for seat depth adjustment; and, being a transmission lever (40), the rear lever is coupled by its rear end (50) with the snap-in locking pin (34), having pivoted play.
