Definitions
- the present invention relates to new dispersions of acrylate-modified alkyd resins.
- Coating materials, adhesives and sealing compounds and the use for their production are the subject of the present invention. Furthermore, the present invention relates to new coatings, adhesive layers and seals on and in primed or unprimed substrates which can be produced from the new coating materials, adhesives and sealants. Last but not least, the new primed and unprimed substrates which have the coatings, adhesives and seals are the subject of the present invention.
- alkyd resins and modified alkyd resins provide the binder base in about a third of all coating materials worldwide (see also Römpp Lexikon Lacke und Druckmaschine, Georg Thieme Verlag, Stuttgart, New York, "Alkydharze", pages 20 to 22). For ecological reasons, it is therefore of great importance to provide alkyd resins, and in particular modified alkyd resins, which are soluble or dispersible in water without their advantageous application properties deteriorating, and can thus form the basis for aqueous coating materials, adhesives and sealants ,
- aqueous dispersions provide high-quality, low-yellowing, weather-resistant, scratch-resistant and high-gloss coatings.
- they have the disadvantage that they can only be produced on the basis of the comparatively expensive polyurethanes.
- the azeotropic distillation of the relatively large amounts of solvents causes safety-related and economic problems.
- the object of the present invention is to provide new aqueous dispersions of acrylate-modified alkyd resins which no longer have the disadvantages of the prior art, but instead only have to use small amounts of solvents in their production such that their removal from the dispersions is no longer necessary is.
- the new aqueous dispersions should also be able to be produced on the basis of polyurethane-free alkyd resins.
- the alkyd resins are to be modified with olefinically unsaturated monomers in the preparation of the new aqueous dispersions be able to contain reactive functional groups in addition to the olefinically unsaturated double bond.
- the new aqueous dispersions are intended to supply coating materials, adhesives and sealants which can be used widely and which result in coatings, adhesive layers and seals of particularly high quality and with a long service life.

Description

D. Stoye und W. Freitag, Wiley-VCH, Wemheim, New York, 1998, Seiten 80 ff., verwiesen.
