Definitions
- the present invention is in the field of techniques printing for packaging and its purpose is a new advertising insert, called “leaflet” intended to be inserted in a packaging of food product in particular, and its manufacturing process.
- Such well-known packaging are for example those of "camembert” cheeses, consisting of a first leaf flexible itself made up of a combination of paper and a plastic film, and a cylindrical cardboard or wooden box; for example again the packaging of pre-cut pieces of meat found in "super markets”, consisting a closed expanded polystyrene tray, over the meat piece (s) that the tray contains, by a transparent film; we could cite examples wide variety of packaging in which the food product, generally moist in these cases, is confined, visible or not, in its packaging which we will seek a suitable seal.
- a particularly economical production technique leaflet printing is its printing by continuous printing machines, called rotary, and delivering at the output of the chain a folded, shaped and cut leaflet, ie finished.
- the flow pack technique requires carrying out first the prints and then take them up on a different machine for insert into sachets; these rather long and costly operations finally strike the cost of the product; further the heat-sealed edges of the ends take a place in the packaging which limits that of the printed part. For example if the sachet must be inserted in a Camembert type cheese box, it will have a overall length of about 80 mm; taking into account a heat seal of at least 10mm wide at each end of the bag, the length of the print is reduced to 55 or 60 mm, which significantly reduces the size of the message, advertising by example. Finally, the end consumer must take the trouble to open the flow-pack, for example with a pair of scissors, to read the information.
- the film-coating technique as practiced so far is to apply a sheet of plastic on each individual sheet of the print. This makes it necessary to produce the print in several stages over several machines, or even at different or distant production sites; which translates again by low production rates, long manufacturing times with storage of intermediate products, and ultimately high costs.
- this technique is very advantageous from the point of view of saving information space by compared to the flow pack technique.
- it still has the disadvantage of driving to a leaflet whose automatic grip is less easy than that of the leaflet in flow pack, even impossible, due to the random nature of its size (possibility of spontaneous opening or unfolding or under the action of a gripping organ); in other words, the leaflet must be placed manually in the packaging.
- leaflet has not yet been proposed leaving film-coated, or otherwise insulated, and finished with a printing and shaping line continuous comprising a rotary printing machine, and the gripping of which can be automated reliably.
- the present invention thus has two objects: on the one hand products, said documents, or leaflets, and on the other hand a production process of leaflets and the products obtained according to the process, some of these products meeting to the definition of the first object.
- a printed laminated shaped document comprising at least two so-called external sheets, or sheets, of which at least the external faces are coated
- a flap characterized in its generality in that it comprises, extending the edge said end of at least one of said two cover sheets, a flap, too film-coated on at least its outer face, said flap comprising repositionable glue on its inner face so as to give it, being folded down on the outer face on the other cover sheet, a clasp function to keep plated against each other said at least two sheets and to give the document a defined size allowing its mechanical grip.
- film-coated faces is meant the fact that the faces are coated with an adhesive film of plastic, which as said above is known from the prior art, but by a sheet-by-sheet process.
- shaped document we mean that the document does not require any other treatment, that it is ready to use, in particular that it has its cutouts, straight or curved, top or bottom, finish and presentation.
- Repositionable glue means a substance whose adhesiveness allows the end consumer to open the leaflet several times in lifting the shutter, and closing it without risk of tearing the leaflet.
- the definition of the document of the invention includes the fact that the document can be printed on either side of its leaflets, which is generally sought after since it is, for a given cost, communicate as much information as possible, but also the fact that faces of sheets other than cover may be laminated; this will for example be the case of a document intended to be placed in packaging with a very high humidity or a biologically aggressive environment.
- said document being of the kind made up of two sheets linked and articulated by a fold, and film-coated on at least their face appearing as external when they are folded one on the other, the said flap is folded down on the outside of the other sheet; we understand that this is the document the simplest meeting the definition of the invention.
- the document being of the kind consisting of several linked and articulated "booklet” sheets, including two cover sheets film-coated at least on their face appearing to be external when they are folded over each other, the said flap is folded over the outer face of the other cover sheet.
- the said document being of the kind consisting of several articulated sheets in "rolled fold", including two external sheets film-coated on their side, appearing to be external when folded down on each other, the said flap is folded over the outside of the other sheet of blanket.
- said document being of genre consisting of several odd-numbered leaves articulated in "accordion", of which two external sheets laminated on their face appearing as external when are folded over each other, it has two flaps, each along the end edge of a said cover sheet, each of the said flaps being folded down on the outside of the other cover sheet.
- a document 1 says leaflet due of its destination is of the booklet type and has four sheets such as 2 or 3; the sheets generally result from the folding of a double sheet; the two internal sheets 3 are fixed by gluing, for example along their fold line; the sheets outer 2 are called cover and, in the drawing, their outer faces 4 are turned upwards. In general, all sides of the sheets are printed.
- Figs. 3 and 4 are schematically similar to that of fig.2, respectively a leaflet in "rolled fold” 8, and a leaflet “in accordion” 9, both with four leaves.
- leaflets of the previous figures can come from continuous production behind a press.
- any of leaflets 1, 8 or 9 have been placed under "flow-pack", that is to say in a sachet 11 closed by heat sealing in 110 and it appears that the dimensions of the leaflet must be smaller than those of the bag at least the width of the heat seal.
- the need for this provision under flow-pack results, as stated above, from hygiene requirements of a on the one hand, and mechanization of gripping on the other.
- a leaflet 10 according to the invention of the booklet type with two sheets 11 and 12, therefore external or of cover, is characterized in its structure by the existence of a flap 13, with a clasp function, extending, on its end edge, one of the cover sheets, and by external faces laminated sheets including the outside of the flap 13.
- a line of repositionable glue 4 keeps the flap in the folded position above the sheet of cover 11.
- Each station is thus, respectively, the seat a printing, plating or laminating, folding, folding, gluing operation (glue), folding, cutting and it should be understood that the whole of the posts described above forms a chain for manufacturing leaflets, a chain of which the arrangement depends on the type of leaflet to be obtained. But this is an approach of engineering quite usual to the man of the art of modern continuous printing, as soon as the present filming rules are given by these specifications continuously and applying glue on one or two side parts provided at this end to constitute a clasp.
- Fig. 11 schematically illustrates a leaflet 60 analogs to that of fig. 3, that is to say in a rolled fold with four sheets, but comprising the attributes of the invention, namely a film coating 62 on the outer face of its external sheets 63, 64 of cover and a flap 65 with an extended clasp function the end edge 66 of the sheet 63 on which are folded and folded over one another two internal sheets 61.
- Fig. 12 schematically illustrates a leaflet 70 in accordion differing from that of fig. 4 in that on the one hand it has a number odd of sheets, namely three, of which two external cover sheets 71, 72 and one internal sheet 73, on the other hand in that the external sheets have their external face respectively 74, 75, film-coated, and are each extended by a flap, respectively 76, 77 with clasp function.
- the leaflet also differs from that of fig. 4, in that that it was obtained according to the method of the invention.
- Fig. 13 schematically illustrates a leaflet 80 also pertaining to the invention, but only by virtue of its obtaining according to the process in the most general definition of it.
- This leaflet is only made up a simple sheet 81 laminated on one side 82 which may or may not be printed printed but which will be the side intended to be in contact with the wet product, and in the latter case the printed side will be the other side 83, not film-coated.
- FIGS. 9 to 12 We will understand that it is for better readability and understanding of FIGS. 9 to 12 that the leaflets are shown there ajar, but that in reality they are closed by their clasp, as represented in figure 8, and as defined in the claims.

Abstract
Description
The present invention is in the field of techniques printing for packaging and its purpose is a new advertising insert, called "leaflet" intended to be inserted in a packaging of food product in particular, and its manufacturing process.
We recall that today many food products moist such as cheese, precut meat, vegetables or fruits, are presented to customers confined in a package which isolates them from the air and external contacts, this for conservation reasons (avoid drying, oxidation), hygiene, even simple presentation. Such well-known packaging are for example those of "camembert" cheeses, consisting of a first leaf flexible itself made up of a combination of paper and a plastic film, and a cylindrical cardboard or wooden box; for example again the packaging of pre-cut pieces of meat found in "super markets", consisting a closed expanded polystyrene tray, over the meat piece (s) that the tray contains, by a transparent film; we could cite examples wide variety of packaging in which the food product, generally moist in these cases, is confined, visible or not, in its packaging which we will seek a suitable seal.
Now according to modern distribution techniques we may wish to include information about the packaged product in the packaging, for example the history of its production, the indication of its origin, etc., or tips to prepare it. We will therefore include in the packaging a document printed, generally in paper, said "leaflet", containing this information.
A particularly economical production technique leaflet printing is its printing by continuous printing machines, called rotary, and delivering at the output of the chain a folded, shaped and cut leaflet, ie finished.
Now, both for hygienic reasons, resulting sometimes regulatory and prohibiting direct contact with printing ink with the food product, and for reasons of presentation of the leaflet that water exudation and / or condensation soaks and deteriorates, one sought to isolate the leaflet while preserving its readability.
- heat-sealed plastic bag leaflet, technique known as "flow pack"
- "lamination" or sheet-by-sheet laminating of the leaflet at least on its external faces,
The flow pack technique requires carrying out first the prints and then take them up on a different machine for insert into sachets; these rather long and costly operations finally strike the cost of the product; further the heat-sealed edges of the ends take a place in the packaging which limits that of the printed part.
The film-coating technique as practiced so far is to apply a sheet of plastic on each individual sheet of the print. This makes it necessary to produce the print in several stages over several machines, or even at different or distant production sites; which translates again by low production rates, long manufacturing times with storage of intermediate products, and ultimately high costs. Now this technique is very advantageous from the point of view of saving information space by compared to the flow pack technique. However, it still has the disadvantage of driving to a leaflet whose automatic grip is less easy than that of the leaflet in flow pack, even impossible, due to the random nature of its size (possibility of spontaneous opening or unfolding or under the action of a gripping organ); in other words, the leaflet must be placed manually in the packaging.
In summary we know how to produce on the one hand film-coated leaflets, but according to a sheet-by-sheet production technique therefore expensive and giving products that cannot be grasped automatically, on the other hand, we know how to produce continuous leaflets but which are not film-coated and which must be placed under flow-pack to meet hygiene standards and be automatically gripped.
In conclusion, leaflet has not yet been proposed leaving film-coated, or otherwise insulated, and finished with a printing and shaping line continuous comprising a rotary printing machine, and the gripping of which can be automated reliably.
It is precisely the aim of the present invention that to continuously produce a printed document called leaflet at the exit of the press, minus all the external faces are laminated, and which presents itself as an object a certain size, easily gripped automatically, by suction cup for example.
We will particularly emphasize the interest of the production continuously which does not only reside in an appreciable saving of time in look at the manufacturing cost, but also and above all in the considerable shortening the deadline for making the leaflet available to its end user; indeed the leaflet is often used in promotional campaigns that require coordination, always difficult, of the various actors of the campaign, and the shortening of a only delay is a determining factor in the effectiveness of coordination.
The present invention thus has two objects: on the one hand products, said documents, or leaflets, and on the other hand a production process of leaflets and the products obtained according to the process, some of these products meeting to the definition of the first object.
According to the present invention, in its first object, a printed laminated shaped document, called a "leaflet", comprising at least two so-called external sheets, or sheets, of which at least the external faces are coated, is characterized in its generality in that it comprises, extending the edge said end of at least one of said two cover sheets, a flap, too film-coated on at least its outer face, said flap comprising repositionable glue on its inner face so as to give it, being folded down on the outer face on the other cover sheet, a clasp function to keep plated against each other said at least two sheets and to give the document a defined size allowing its mechanical grip.
By film-coated faces is meant the fact that the faces are coated with an adhesive film of plastic, which as said above is known from the prior art, but by a sheet-by-sheet process.
By shaped document we mean that the document does not require any other treatment, that it is ready to use, in particular that it has its cutouts, straight or curved, top or bottom, finish and presentation.
Repositionable glue means a substance whose adhesiveness allows the end consumer to open the leaflet several times in lifting the shutter, and closing it without risk of tearing the leaflet.
The document of the invention thus defined can be presented in various folding forms known from the prior art: in simple booklet or with interior sheets, in rolled pleat with one or more interior sheets, in accordion.
Thanks to the clasp, we will be exempt from having to place the document under "flow-pack" since both it will be isolated by lamination and it will have a well-defined size or geometry as well as a compactness allowing its automated mechanical grip.
Note that the definition of the document of the invention includes the fact that the document can be printed on either side of its leaflets, which is generally sought after since it is, for a given cost, communicate as much information as possible, but also the fact that faces of sheets other than cover may be laminated; this will for example be the case of a document intended to be placed in packaging with a very high humidity or a biologically aggressive environment.
Advantageously said document being of the kind made up of two sheets linked and articulated by a fold, and film-coated on at least their face appearing as external when they are folded one on the other, the said flap is folded down on the outside of the other sheet; we understand that this is the document the simplest meeting the definition of the invention.
Advantageously still the document being of the kind consisting of several linked and articulated "booklet" sheets, including two cover sheets film-coated at least on their face appearing to be external when they are folded over each other, the said flap is folded over the outer face of the other cover sheet.
Note that in this case a known technique of continuous broaching, such as depositing a thread of glue at the location of a separating fold two sheets, can be included in the process which will be described later; we will thus obtain a document of the most common type meeting the definition of the invention.
Advantageously again, the said document being of the kind consisting of several articulated sheets in "rolled fold", including two external sheets film-coated on their side, appearing to be external when folded down on each other, the said flap is folded over the outside of the other sheet of blanket.
Advantageously finally, said document being of genre consisting of several odd-numbered leaves articulated in "accordion", of which two external sheets laminated on their face appearing as external when are folded over each other, it has two flaps, each along the end edge of a said cover sheet, each of the said flaps being folded down on the outside of the other cover sheet.
- continuously printing on a rotary machine constituting a first so-called printing station, information on at least one of the two faces of a continuous strip of said support in order to obtain a strip printed on at least one of its faces, (It will be noted that the print medium is preferably paper, but it could also be any other flexible material rot-proof or insensitive to moisture, and suitable for printing or any other form of marking.)
- unwind from a reel and continuously press on an adhesive film of plastic material allowing in particular contact with food products, on at least part of said strip to obtain a printed film-coated strip, (Note that the plating, because the adhesive lends itself to it, is made between rollers subjected to a closing force of 10 to 50 kg, depending on the width of the plated film.)
- cutting, in a last so-called cutting-off station, said strip, along cutting lines transverse to the direction of travel to form strip sections, at least some of which constitute the said document; (It will be noted that in this post, the technique of which is known in the art, certain cut-off parts can be "falls", for example in cases where the cutting of the tops and / or footers, is biased or n is not rectilinear). Advantageously, said part at least of said strip on which is pressed said adhesive film is a printed part, but not necessarily of verbal elements; it is thus conceivable that it can be printed in a flat color, the advantage of the film coating remaining as an obstacle to the migration of solvents with olfactory activity. It should be understood at this stage of the definition of the process of the invention that , the operation defined below being only an alternative, the method is equally applicable to the manufacture of a simple film-coated card on at least one of these faces, which face will be that facing or in contact of the packaged product. No doubt we know how to produce laminated cards, such as for example certain modern identity cards, but to the knowledge of the Applicant, it has never been proposed to manufacture simple laminated printed cards in a continuous process leaving More particularly, said document having to consist of at least two sheets hinged one on the other, the method comprises, before the cutting operation, a so-called sheet folding operation consisting of
- fold continuously at least once the said film-coated printed strip to form at least a first fold comprised between two sheets, at least two of the sheets, called cover sheets, of the document being film-coated on at least one so-called external face. More particularly still, the said document having to include a flap with a clasp function as described above, the method comprises an operation consisting in:
- continuously deposit repositionable glue on one side of at least one, called flap, of the lateral parts of said strip, lateral part contiguous to one of the two cover sheets, said flap being intended to form a clasp for said document made up of at least two sheets, including at least two cover sheets. Finally, the method of the invention comprises, before the cutting operation, a folding operation of said flap above the outside face of the other of the cover sheets, to form a clasp and keep the said document closed and give it space. defined authorizing its mechanical gripping. The invention will be better understood, and details thereof will appear in the description which will be made of its two objects, with reference to the drawings of the attached plates in which:
In fig. 1 and 2, a document 1 says leaflet due
of its destination is of the booklet type and has four sheets such as 2 or 3; the
sheets generally result from the folding of a double sheet; the two
It appears from the figure that the leaflet has a bulk quite imprecise due to the spontaneous spacing of the sheets, and that this imprecision of the dimensions makes it unsuitable for automated gripping.
In Figs. 3 and 4 are schematically similar to that of fig.2, respectively a leaflet in "rolled fold" 8, and a leaflet "in accordion" 9, both with four leaves.
As indicated above the leaflets of the previous figures can come from continuous production behind a press.
In fig. 5, any of
couverture 11.In fig. 7 and 8 a
- un premier poste dit d'impression 15 dans lequel une bande de papier 16 déroulée à partir d'une bobine 17 défile en continu entre les rouleaux d'impression 18 d'une rotative offset constituant le poste, pour fournir une bande imprimée 19;
- un troisième poste 25 dit de pliage dans lequel la bande 24 subit un premier pliage le long d'une ligne de pliage 26. On remarque que la position de la ligne de pliage ménage une partie latérale 27 au dessus de laquelle la bande n'est pas repliée. Cette partie latérale formera ultérieurement un volet à fonction de fermoir. Le troisième poste délivre, toujours en continu, une bande imprimée pelliculée pliée 28 ;
- un cinquième poste 35 dit de repliage de la partie latérale 27 au dessus de la bande; ce poste peut comporter à sa sortie un passage de la bande entre deux rouleaux 37, dits applicateurs, qui assurent l'application de la partie latérale encollée contre la face extérieure de la bande. La bande a alors, dans ce cas particulier de conformation, une structure de bande tubulaire 38;
- a first so-called
printing station 15 in which a strip ofpaper 16 unwound from areel 17 runs continuously between the printing rollers 18 of an offset press constituting the station, to provide a printedstrip 19; - a second so-called
laminating station 20 in which anadhesive film 21 unwound from areel 22 is pressed against the underside of the printedstrip 19 by passing one and the other between plating rollers 23. The commercially available adhesive film is a transparent polypropylene film of thickness, suitable for the process, of about ten to thirty microns (10 to 30 µ). The second station delivers a film-coated printedstrip 24; the person skilled in the art understands, as indicated above, that the film could as well, in other manufacturing cases, be pressed on the upper face, and in the same way on the two faces, lower and upper, Of the band. - a
third station 25 called folding in which thestrip 24 undergoes a first folding along afold line 26. It is noted that the position of the fold line spares alateral portion 27 above which the strip is not folded. This side part will later form a flap with a clasp function. The third station delivers, always continuously, a folded printedfilm strip 28; - a
fourth station 30, known as for placing repositionable glue, or for gluing, in which a nozzle 31 in communication with a reservoir of glue, not shown (which may or may not be under pressure), deposits an infinitesimal quantity of glue in the net. vicinity of the center of thelateral part 27; this station delivers a glued strip 32. In the case of larger flaps, the glue can be applied by means of a foam pad which is recharged in a glue tank for example. - a
fifth station 35 said to be folding thelateral part 27 above the strip; this station may include at its outlet a passage of the strip between two rollers 37, said applicators, which ensure the application of the side portion glued against the outer face of the strip. The strip then has, in this particular case of conformation, atubular strip structure 38; - finally a
sixth station 40 called cutting in which thetubular strip 38 is continuously cut by means of knives mounted transversely to the direction of travel of the strip on a cylinder 41, insections 42 each constituting a leaflet meeting the definition of l invention given above. The leaflets are received, according to a well-known technique, on a mat on which they overlap so that they can be directly stacked and wrapped.
Each station is thus, respectively, the seat a printing, plating or laminating, folding, folding, gluing operation (glue), folding, cutting and it should be understood that the whole of the posts described above forms a chain for manufacturing leaflets, a chain of which the arrangement depends on the type of leaflet to be obtained. But this is an approach of engineering quite usual to the man of the art of modern continuous printing, as soon as the present filming rules are given by these specifications continuously and applying glue on one or two side parts provided at this end to constitute a clasp.
The following figures give, without limitation, examples of types of leaflets that can be obtained by implementing a process or a production line similar to those described above.
In Figs. 9 and 10, a
to that of fig. 3, that is to say in a rolled fold with four sheets, but comprising
the attributes of the invention, namely a
Fig. 12 schematically illustrates a
Fig. 13 schematically illustrates a
We will understand that it is for better readability and understanding of FIGS. 9 to 12 that the leaflets are shown there ajar, but that in reality they are closed by their clasp, as represented in figure 8, and as defined in the claims.
Bien que l'on ait décrit et représenté à titre d'exemples une forme de mise en oeuvre relativement simplifiée du procédé de l'invention et diverses formes de réalisation de documents imprimés pelliculés dits leaflets relevant de celle-ci, il doit être compris que ces exemples ne sont pas limitatifs de sa portée, et l'on prendra soin, pour connaítre la portée de cette dernière, de se reporter aux définitions générales qui sont données, tant du document pris dans sa structure, que du procédé pris dans ses diverses opérations .Although we have described and shown as examples a relatively simplified form of implementation of the process of the invention and various embodiments of laminated printed documents known as relevant leaflets of it, it should be understood that these examples are not limiting of its scope, and we will take care, to know the scope of the latter, to refer to the definitions terms which are given, both from the document taken in its structure, and from the process taken in its various operations.
