Description

Plaque d'encrage pour machine d'impression rotativeInking plate for rotary printing machine
The present invention relates to an inking plate for a rotary printing machine, intended to be mounted on a cylinder, formed at least of a base plate and of material deposited on said plate, said material being intended to be cut into zones. in relief whose contours correspond to those of the surfaces to be inked. The present invention also relates to a printing machine comprising such a printing plate mounted on a cylinder and to a method for producing such a plate.
These inking plates mounted on inking cylinders are known in the field of rotary printing machines, whether for direct or indirect inking. In the case of indirect inking, a collector-inking cylinder is used on which the necessary ink is transferred from selector cylinders, also called inking cylinders. Each of these ink cylinders is associated with a determined inkwell and therefore with a given color. The collecting cylinder then transfers the ink corresponding to the different colors to the printing plates. In the case of direct inking, on the other hand, the ink is transferred to the printing plates directly from the ink cylinders, without using a collecting cylinder.
The ink rollers, in a manner known in the prior art, have a hard material surface, for example plastic, metal or even hard rubber, this surface being cut so as to form zones in relief whose contours correspond exactly to those of the areas to be printed in a given color. These raised areas are formed by known cutting means, for example the laser. Such ink rollers are described for example in European patent application EP 0 406 157 or in US patent 5,282,417 which shows such ink rollers mounted in a printing machine using both direct and indirect inking techniques.
However, this type of ink roller has disadvantages. In particular, when they are worn, that is to say when the raised areas are worn, it is necessary to disassemble the cylinders of the printing machine, to redeposit a layer of plastic or other material on its circumference , to cut again the desired raised areas and finally to reassemble the cylinders in the machine which requires to make long and complicated adjustments to find a correct register of the different impressions on the collector-inking cylinder or on the cylinder plate.
A first solution which makes it possible to remedy some of these disadvantages consists in using inking plates comprising a photopolymer coating which are mounted on cylinders replacing the known inking cylinders. It is thus possible to prepare these plates independently, in particular by forming the raised areas using a photogravure process, but these photopolymeric plates also have disadvantages. On the one hand, it should be mentioned that the creation of the raised areas must be done flat so that these raised areas are deformed when mounting the plates on the cylinder. It is therefore essential to take this deformation into account during the creation of the raised areas. In addition, the diameter of the cylinders on which the plates will be mounted also has an influence on the deformation. The life of these photopolymeric plates, in addition to their price, is also unfavorable. Indeed, and in particular in processes using the principle of direct inking of the printing plate, the temperature of which may be high, the lifetime of these photopolymeric plates is much lower than that of the ink cylinders mentioned above. above. In addition, the photopolymeric material has a lower elasticity than that of the materials used for the ink cylinders so that the inking is sometimes insufficient, especially in a direct inking process.
Le but de l'invention est d'améliorer les systèmes d ' encrage connus .The object of the invention is to improve the known inking systems.
More particularly, the invention aims to provide an inking plate which overcomes the drawbacks of known plates.
The invention also aims to provide a method for producing such an inking plate, an inking cylinder carrying such an inking plate and a rotary printing machine using such an inking plate.
The inking plate according to the invention is defined by the characterizing part of claim 1. The advantages of the plate according to the invention are numerous. On the one hand, one can mention the fact that such plates are much less expensive to produce and that their lifespan is much longer than that of photopolymeric plates. In addition, their manufacture is much simpler since the raised zones are created on plates mounted on cylinders so that these zones are not deformed when installing the plates in a printing machine.
Claims 2 to 6 define specific embodiments of the inking plate.
Independent claim 7 defines a printing machine ink cylinder comprising at least one ink plate according to the invention, and independent claim 8 a printing machine comprising at least one such cylinder.
Independent claim 9 defines a method for producing a plate according to the invention.
The invention will be better understood by the description of an embodiment thereof and the figures relating thereto. Figure 1 is a schematic sectional view of a rotary printing machine using both direct and indirect inking techniques.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of a plate 1 according to the invention.
Figure 3 is a schematic sectional view of an ink cylinder carrying a plate according to the invention.
Figure 5 is a block diagram illustrating the method of producing an inking plate according to the invention.
The printing machine shown in Figure 1 is a convertible intaglio printing machine which allows the use of a direct or indirect inking process. This machine comprises three modules I, II and III, direct inking being carried out in module I which comprises a printing cylinder 1, a plate cylinder 2, a wiping cylinder 3 and an ink cylinder 4 associated with an inkwell 5. The indirect inking is carried out by the modules II and III, which comprise a collector-inking cylinder 6 inked by inking cylinders 7 located in the module II associated with the inkwells 8. Thus, for the indirect inking, the patterns corresponding to the raised areas of the inking cylinders 7 are collected on the collector-inking cylinder 6 and are then transferred from this collector cylinder 6 to the plate cylinder 2. Such a rotary printing machine is known from US Patent 5,282,417 for example, incorporated by reference in the present application.
An inking plate according to the invention is shown in section in FIG. 2. This inking plate 10 consists of a base plate 11, preferably made of metal, for example stainless steel, having two ends 12, 13 provided for its attachment to a cylinder 20 (see Figure 3). On the base plate 11, a layer of adhesive 14 was first deposited which covers the surface of the plate 11 with the exception of the two ends 12, 13 used for fixing. Over this layer of glue 14, a first layer 26 of a first PVC composition was then deposited and over this first layer 26, a second layer 15 of a second PVC composition was deposited in which reliefs 16 have been trimmed. These reliefs 16 correspond exactly to patterns on the plate which must be inked in a specific color.
De préférence, cette plaque à deux couches de PVC est utilisée pour de l'encrage direct, la deuxième couche 15 étant plus molle que la première couche 26 de PVC.Preferably, this plate with two layers of PVC is used for direct inking, the second layer 15 being softer than the first layer 26 of PVC.
The plate 10, which corresponds to that of FIG. 2, comprises the base plate 11, the layer of adhesive 14, the two layers 26 and 15 of PVC, reliefs 16 having been cut in the layer 15. The ends 12 and 13 of the base plate 11 are held in a pit 18 of the cylinder 17 by an appropriate fixing system, for example pliers (not shown). The system for fixing plates to a cylinder is known in the field of rotary printing machines. By way of example, patent EP 0 403 434, which is incorporated by reference into the present application, shows such a fixing system being mounted in the pit of a plate cylinder.
Such an inking cylinder 17 is then mounted in a printing machine as shown in FIG. 1, preferably in place of the cylinder 4 for direct inking, as indicated above.
The base plate 11 is mounted on this preparation cylinder 20 and held in position by a clamp system, represented schematically by the reference 23, located in the pit 21 of said cylinder 20. The clamp system used can be that described above or any other equivalent system. Said pit 21 is then closed by a cover 24 to prevent the glue and the PVC from entering it. The cover 24 is fixed by screws 25 or by other equivalent means. The adhesive layer 14 is deposited on the surface of the base plate 11 except on the surface of the cover 24. In the case shown in this figure, only one single layer of PVC 27 has been deposited: this configuration of plate corresponds to use in an indirect inking process. In this case, the outer layer of PVC 27 is harder than the layer 15 of Figures 2 and 3, for plates used in a direct inking process. The absence of glue on the cover 24 means that the PVC layer does not adhere to it and to remove the plate 10, it suffices to cut longitudinally, in the axial direction of the cylinder 20, ' the PVC along the edges of the cover to remove the layers of PVC covering said cover 24. The fixing means of the cover 24 can then be undone and access the fixing means 23 of the plate 10 on the cylinder 20 and remove the plate 10.
It is possible to cut the reliefs 16 (see FIGS. 2 and 3) either directly on the preparation cylinder 20, or in a specific machine by removing the plate 10 from its support 20 and reassembling it on a similar cylinder. in the specific machine.
Le procédé de production d'une plaque d'encrage selon l'invention comprend les étapes suivantes: montage d'une plaque de base sur un cylindre de préparation et fixation par des moyens appropriés;The method for producing an inking plate according to the invention comprises the following steps: mounting a base plate on a preparation cylinder and fixing by appropriate means;
- couverture des moyens de fixation par un couvercle;- cover of the fixing means by a cover;
- dépôt d'une couche de colle sur la surface de la plaque de base sauf sur le couvercle;- deposit of a layer of glue on the surface of the base plate except on the cover;
- dépôt d'au moins une couche de PVC sur la couche de colle et sur le couvercle;- deposit of at least one layer of PVC on the adhesive layer and on the cover;
- découpe de la couche de PVC située sur le couvercle;- cutting of the PVC layer located on the cover;
- démontage du couvercle et retrait de la plaque.- dismantling of the cover and removal of the plate.
This process is illustrated in FIG. 5 by a block diagram comprising the different steps. Preferably, an adhesive of the Decorral HF type (trade name) will be used, however other equivalent adhesives are possible.
Examples of PVC compositions are as follows.

Preferably, the applied thickness of the layer of PVC will be 5 mm, the deposition of which can be carried out in two consecutive phases, each corresponding to a thickness of approximately 2.5 mm. Once this layer has been deposited and the cylinder has cooled, the surface can be rectified before the second layer of PVC is deposited. The thickness of the layer 26 or 27 can be approximately 3 mm.
The embodiments of the invention are given by way of example and variations within the scope of the protection claimed are possible. For example, depending on the size of the plates and the size of the ink cylinders, more than one plate can be mounted per cylinder. It may even be particularly interesting and advantageous to match the number of inking plates with the number of plates to be inked: all the plates being fixed using clamp systems, it is then possible to match the passages of the clamps of each cylinder, ink pad and plate holder, and thus optimize the use of the plate surfaces. Likewise, the thickness of the PVC layers can be varied depending on the circumstances.
