- the rotor Hinged to its periphery, the rotor carries a certain number of slabs, commonly known as hammers, which swing about a non-barycentric axis and are maintained facing outwards by centrifugal force.

- the plates 41 are joined together by four circumferentially-disposed equidistant peripheral rods 43 on which profiled flat members 44 are mounted to ensure consistency of the assembly and define the space within which the hammers 5 rotate.
- Each profiled flat member 44 comprises two symmetrical valleys 45 which delimit the space occupied by a hammer 5 during one complete revolution.
- the profiled members 44 involve only two opposing rods of the four rods 43, and are arranged alternately rotated through 90° to the adjacent profiled members.
- the thickness of the hammers is obviously just less than the thickness of the profiled flat members, so that when these are clamped together between the end plates 41 the hammers remain free to swing.
- the second embodiment shown in Figures 5 to 7 comprises a rotor in which those components illustrated in the rotor of Figures 2 to 4 are indicated by the same reference numerals.
- the rotor of Figures 5 to 7 differs from the rotor of Figures 2 to 4 in that solid discs 6 mounted on the rods 43 are inserted between the profiled members 44 to improve the consistency of the rotor.
