Definitions
- the invention relates to a coating material for an electrostatic printing process with material particles.
- a toner is known from EP 0 647 885 A1, which is used for printing on ceramic and glass products.
- the toner particles of the toner have a pigment core consisting of ceramic pigments.
- the pigment core is surrounded by a binder resin shell.
- Charge control agents are coupled to the binder resin shell.
- the toner is applied to paper coated with gum arabic using an electrostatic copying process.
- a clear varnish is applied to the coated paper for fixation applied.
- the paper can then be placed on the ceramic or glass product to be coated and moistened.
- the paper can then be peeled off, the gum arabic layer and the colored coating applied to it adhering to the ceramic or glass product. This is then baked, causing the color pigments to fuse with the surface of the product.
- Such a toner can only be used for ceramic and glass products.
- thermoplastic a polystyrene-based thermoplastic or an epoxy bisphenol A
- an extruder can be used, for example, as a mixing device.
- Resin and hardener can be introduced into this extruder and heated here to a temperature which is higher than the melting temperature of resin and hardener but lower than the thermosetting crosslinking temperature.
- the color pigments and the charge control particles can be fed into the extruder so that a complete and uniform mixing of resin, hardener, color pigments and charge control particles can take place.
- the raw toner mass is removed from the mixing device and cooled. It can then be comminuted, for example granulated, in order to produce the individual material particles.

Abstract
Description
Beschichtungsmaterial sowie Herstellungsverfahren für ein BeschichtungsmaterialCoating material and production method for a coating material
The invention relates to a coating material for an electrostatic printing process with material particles.
Weiterhin betrifft die Erfindung auch ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Beschichtungsmateriales wobei ein Kunststoff-Basiswerkstoff in einer Mischvorrichtung unter Temperatureinwirkung zu einer Tonerrohmasse gemischt wird, und wobei die Tonerrohmasse im Anschluß an die Mischvorrichtung zuFurthermore, the invention also relates to a method for producing a coating material, wherein a plastic base material is mixed in a mixing device under the action of temperature to form a raw toner mass, and wherein the raw toner mass follows the mixing device
Tonerteilchen zerkleinert, beispielsweise granuliert wird.Shredded toner particles, for example granulated.
A toner is known from EP 0 647 885 A1, which is used for printing on ceramic and glass products. The toner particles of the toner have a pigment core consisting of ceramic pigments. The pigment core is surrounded by a binder resin shell. Charge control agents are coupled to the binder resin shell. The toner is applied to paper coated with gum arabic using an electrostatic copying process. A clear varnish is applied to the coated paper for fixation applied. The paper can then be placed on the ceramic or glass product to be coated and moistened. The paper can then be peeled off, the gum arabic layer and the colored coating applied to it adhering to the ceramic or glass product. This is then baked, causing the color pigments to fuse with the surface of the product. Such a toner can only be used for ceramic and glass products.
Toners are also known which have a thermoplastic as the base material. This is mixed with color pigments and charge control agents. The toner is applied to a paper to be coated using the electrostatic printing process. The coated support is then fixed at a temperature of 90 ° C - 1 70 ° C.
These toners are not suitable for the coating of materials where high demands are placed on surface resistance, especially scratch resistance.
It is an object of the invention to provide a coating material of the type mentioned at the outset with which surface coatings with a high surface quality can be produced on almost any material.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a method for producing such a coating material.
These objects are achieved in that at least some of the material particles have the thermoset components resin and hardener. According to the invention, a coating material is thus provided which forms a thermoset coating on the workpiece to be coated. The properties of the thermoset are used to produce good surface qualities, especially scratch and heat resistant surfaces.
The coating can, for example, be a color coating with which the surface of a workpiece can be colored. It is also conceivable that the coating should be used to influence the surface properties of a workpiece. The wear or corrosion properties or the coefficient of friction can be influenced. Using electrostatic processes, the coating material can be applied in a targeted manner to those workpiece locations at which the surface is to be influenced.
Erwähnt seien in diesem Zusammenhang auchColorants are added to the coating material in order to be able to design surfaces in color. Pigments or dyes can be used as colorants. When using pigments, sulfides are particularly suitable. Zinc sulfide pigments, which are characterized by a high degree of whiteness and high light fastness, should also be mentioned here. Due to their low hardness, they produce almost no tool wear and no impairment of the mechanical properties of the plastic. The ZnS content of these zinc sulfide pigments acts as a dry lubricant. The use of inorganic colored pigments is also conceivable. These are characterized above all by their high opacity. In this context it should also be mentioned
Chromium oxide pigments that are particularly light, weather and temperature resistant. In the metal complex pigments, the Naphthol-AS pigments are characterized by color strength, light fastness and chemical resistance. Furthermore, the diazo condensation pigments are also suitable for the metal complex pigments, if the material is to be used in harsh environmental conditions. In this context, the diazo condensation pigments are particularly characterized by their fastness to solvents and migration, temperature resistance and color strength. These pigments are also lightfast and weatherproof.
Damit die Materialteilchen im elektrostatischen Druckverfahren auf das zu beschichtende Werkstück aufgebracht werden können, ist es nach einer Aus- gestaltungsvariante der Erfindung vorgesehen, dass die Materialteilchen mitSo that the material particles can be applied to the workpiece to be coated in the electrostatic printing process, it is provided according to one embodiment variant of the invention that the material particles are also

According to the invention, an acid hardener or a peroxide can be used as the resin.
Zur Beeinflussung der Werkstoffeigenschaften kann es vorgesehen sein, dass ein Teil der Materialteilchen als Füllstoff ausgebildet ist, beispielweise als Holzmehl, Cellulosepulver, Schalenmehl, Kernmehl, Aluminiumtrihydrat, Elektrokorund, Kryolith, Schwerspat, Blancfixe, Bariumferrit, Calciumcarbonat, Dolomit, Kohle, Graphit, Andalusit, Feldspat, Glimmer, Kaolin, Kieselgur, massive Mikrokugeln, hohle Mikrokugeln, Mullit, Olivin, Sillimanit, Nephelin, Talkum, Quarzsand, Quarzmehl, Schiefermehl, Siliciumcarbid und/oder Wollastonit. Mit den Füllstoffen kann die Dichte, der E-Modul, die Druck- und Biegefestigkeit, die Härte, die Formbeständigkeit in der Wärme, die Oberflächengüte und - je nach Füllstoffsorte - das antistatische Verhalten oder die Brandschutzwirkung desTo influence the material properties, it can be provided that part of the material particles is designed as a filler, for example as wood flour, cellulose powder, shell flour, core flour, aluminum trihydrate, electro-corundum, cryolite, barite, blanc fixe, barium ferrite, calcium carbonate, dolomite, coal, graphite, andalusite , Feldspar, mica, kaolin, kieselguhr, massive microspheres, hollow microspheres, mullite, olivine, sillimanite, nepheline, talc, quartz sand, quartz powder, slate powder, silicon carbide and / or wollastonite. With the fillers, the density, the modulus of elasticity, the pressure and bending strength, the hardness, the dimensional stability under heat, the surface quality and - depending on the type of filler - the antistatic behavior or the fire protection effect of the

According to a further possible embodiment variant of the invention, it can it should be provided that at least some of the material particles have a thermoplastic as the basic component, the melting temperature of which is greater than 1 70 ° C. It has been shown that these thermoplastics in particular can be used to produce scratch-resistant surface coatings.

For example, a PEEK, a SPS, a PAJ, a PSU or a PSE material can be used as the thermoplastic. It is also conceivable to use a polystyrene-based thermoplastic or an epoxy bisphenol A

To produce the above-described coating material, an extruder can be used, for example, as a mixing device. Resin and hardener can be introduced into this extruder and heated here to a temperature which is higher than the melting temperature of resin and hardener but lower than the thermosetting crosslinking temperature. The color pigments and the charge control particles can be fed into the extruder so that a complete and uniform mixing of resin, hardener, color pigments and charge control particles can take place. After the mixing has taken place, the raw toner mass is removed from the mixing device and cooled. It can then be comminuted, for example granulated, in order to produce the individual material particles.
