Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a bed, including a hospital bed or a hospital bed.
  • Some hospital beds or some medical beds are equipped with an extension footboard. This extension is sliding and allows to adjust the length of the bed to the stature of the person occupying it.
  • the document EP-0 951 892 describes an example of this type of bed, wherein the footboard comprises two longitudinal and parallel sections extending inwardly of the bed and which allow to slide the footboard relative to the frame of the bed, in order to remove from the end of the bed base and the mattress.
  • the nursing staff must then have a removable plate across the bed, straddling the two parallel profiles, then a piece of cushion or mattress complementary to increase the total length of the mattress about twenty centimeters.
  • this removable plate must be stored in a closet of the room or in another local annex. It is therefore not directly accessible to caregivers who have to travel to find and put it in place and it may be lost.
  • such a plate is not secured to the bed and can slide laterally, or even fall, causing the piece of mattress that it supports.
  • the problems of bacterial contamination are particularly important in hospitals and when a care aide comes to make or remake a bed, it is important that it does not pose or do not drag on the floor, part of the sheet or cover.
  • a bed structure with tubular elements whose footboard is equipped with a small plate called "cover plate”, positioned at a distance and under the frame supporting the bed base, able to slide between a first position in which it is located. under that framework and a second position in which it exceeds the outside of the footboard so that hospital staff can put sheets or blankets on them, or possibly any other object.
  • the document EP-0 951 892 also provides a hinged plate mounted hinged on the footboard and pivotable around hinges, between a vertical storage position and a horizontal position where it supports the covers.
  • the present invention aims to provide a bed equipped with equipment not only to extend its total length if necessary but also, if necessary, to ask various objects, while overcoming the aforementioned drawbacks of the prior art.
  • This bed is remarkable in that the rigid panel of the bed base is thin and said support plate is positioned directly under said rigid panel, so that when the support plate is out of said rigid panel and the footboard is in the spaced apart position, the upper surface of said support plate extends substantially in the same plane as the upper surface of said rigid panel or in the immediate vicinity thereof, to ensure the continuity of the bed base and in that said footboard is provided with means of passage of said support plate allowing it to extend beyond the back of the footboard, outwardly.
  • a single support plate secured to the bed performs the functions of bed base and object door.
  • the bed according to the invention generally comprises a frame 1, a bed base 2, a headboard 3 and a footboard 4. It has a longitudinal axis of symmetry referenced X-X ' .
  • X-X ' the elements to the right of the bed will be a reference numeral and identical elements to the left of the bed will bear the same reference numeral and the premium sign.
  • Frame 1 is partially represented in figure 2 it consists of an assembly of several sections, generally metal, forming the basic structure of the bed. More specifically, this frame 1 comprises among others two longitudinal members 10, 10 ', of rectangular section, interconnected by a cylindrical transverse bar 11, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X-X' of the bed.
  • the bed base 2 consists of at least one rigid panel and advantageously at least two rigid panels in order to angularly tilt the head or the foot of the bed.
  • the bed base comprises four panels, successively referenced 20, 21, 22 and 23 of the footboard 4 to the headboard 3. This or these rigid panels are preferably made of plastic so as to be easily washed and disinfected.
  • the rigid panel 20 has an upper face 200 for receiving a mattress and an opposite lower face 201 (see the bottom view of the figure 3 ).
  • said lower face 201 has two housings 202, 202 'extending respectively over the entire length of the two lateral sides of the panel 20.
  • the rigid panel 20, provided with fixing means, is removable on the frame 1.
  • These means consist of at least one resilient clamp 203 (two in this figure).
  • Each resilient clamp 203 has an anchor tab 204 fixed to the lower face 201 of the panel 20, for example by screwing or any other suitable means and two deformable elastic arms 205.
  • Each clamp 203 can be "clipped" on the crossbar 11 as illustrated in figure 4 .
  • These removable attachment means allow one hand to keep in place the rigid panel 20 during the current use of the bed and secondly, to easily remove it for cleaning.
  • the footboard 4 can move in translation between a first position of normal use, shown in FIG. figure 1 , in which the total length of the bed corresponds to a conventional standard (generally about 1 m 90) and a second so-called spaced position, illustrated in FIG. figure 6 , in which the footboard is spaced from the end of the bed base 2, so that the total length of the bed is increased, allowing to sleep a person of large size.
  • the footboard 4 comprises an end cross member 41, two lateral sections 42, 42 'extending from said end cross member 41 towards the inside of the bed and a backrest 43 fixed to said crossmember 41 and extending substantially perpendicular to the plane of the bed base 2.
  • the end cross member 41 has a rectangular section.
  • the two lateral sections 42, 42 ' have a section C open towards the sides of the bed. They are designed to slide respectively around the two longitudinal members 10, 10 'of the frame 1 to allow the spacing of the end cross member 41 (and therefore the backrest 43).
  • the footboard 4 is provided with a locking / unlocking system in translation which makes it possible either to lock the footboard in the normal use position, or to unlock the footboard to bring it into the second remote position. mentioned above (or in a series of intermediate positions) and to lock it again in one or the other of these positions more or less separated from the bed base 2.
  • This locking / unlocking device consists for example of a stirrup 44 of elastically deformable wire whose ends are folded to be introduced into holes 100, respectively 420, provided for this purpose in the longitudinal members 10, 10 'of the frame 1 respectively in the lateral sections 42, 42 '.
  • a locking / unlocking device is for example described in the document FR 2,719,754 incorporated herein by reference and will not be further described.
  • the backrest 43 is fixed on the end cross member 41 by means of two pins or fixing lugs 430, 430 'extending outwardly from the lower face 431 (or thickness) of said backrest.
  • These pins can be either fixed directly on said cross member 41 or received in two corresponding receiving ports 410, 410 'provided for this purpose in the cross member 41.
  • the backrest 43 is removable.
  • Each receiving orifice 410, 410 ' extends along an axis perpendicular to the plane of the bed base 2.
  • Each receiving orifice 410, 410 ' is provided with a flange 411, 411' (see figure 2 ) protruding at the upper surface 412 of the end cross member 41, so that when the backrest 43 of the footboard is in place, the lower face 431 of the backrest 43 rests on said flanges 411, 411 '.
  • the lower face 431 of the backrest 43 is slightly spaced from the upper surface 412 of the end crossbar so as to define a passage space 6 (see FIG. figures 1 and 5 ) whose usefulness will be explained later.
  • the bed is provided with a sliding support plate 5, capable of providing two functions, namely the bedding function when the footboard 4 is in the separated position and the receiving tray function of objects or bed linen.
  • the support plate 5 has a generally rectangular shape. It is positioned directly under the rigid panel 20, that is to say that its upper face 50 is facing the lower face 201 of said rigid panel.
  • the plate 5 can slide relative to this rigid panel 20 between a retracted position, illustrated on the figures 3 , 4 and 5 , in which it is almost entirely under the panel 20 and an extended position, illustrated in figure 1 in which it protrudes outside the footboard 4.
  • this plate 5 has two lateral edges 51, 51 ', an edge said outer edge 52, directed towards the outside of the bed and an edge said inner edge 53, directed towards the center of the bed.
  • the lower face 201 of the rigid panel 20 is provided with means for receiving each of the two lateral edges 51, 51 'of the support plate 5, these means allowing the sliding of said plate with respect to the panel 20 More specifically, these reception means are constituted by at least one, advantageously two, tab (s) of reception 206, respectively 206 ', provided (s) with a groove 207 respectively 207', opening towards the center of bed and in which can slide the lateral edge 51, respectively 51 'of the plate 5.
  • these receiving tabs 206, 206 ' are positioned on the lateral sides of the lower face 201 but between the two housing 202, 202' so that the support plate 5 can slide freely when the rigid panel 20 rests on the side members 10, 10 'of the frame 1.
  • the receiving means 206, 206 'could also be constituted by two wings or lateral grooves opening towards the center of the bed and extending substantially over the entire length of the rigid panel 20, parallel to the two housing 202, 202' and between them this.
  • the two longitudinal members 10, 10 'of the frame 1 are provided with means for receiving each of the two lateral edges 51, 51' of the support plate 5, these means allowing the sliding of said plate with respect to the panel 20. More precisely, these receiving means are advantageously two slides 101, 101 'or lateral grooves opening towards the center of the bed and extending over a length sufficient to support said support plate 5, even when the latter is spaced as far as possible out of the bed.
  • the rigid panel 20 is of a small thickness so that when the support plate 5 is out of under the rigid panel, the upper face 50 of said plate extends approximately in the same plane as the upper surface 200 of the rigid panel 20 The support plate 5 can thus ensure the continuity of the bed base.
  • the support plate 5 comprises at least one, preferably two guiding openings 54, 54 ', of oblong shape, extending in the longitudinal direction of sliding of said plate.
  • each guide opening 54, 54 ' is intended to cooperate with the flanges 411, 411' which protrude from the upper face 412 of the end cross member 41, since these flanges pass through these guide openings 54, 54 '.
  • the outer diameter of the flanges 411, 411 ' is therefore slightly less than the width of the oblong opening 54, 54'.
  • the length of the guide openings 54, 54 ' is calculated so that the two opposite ends of said opening define end stops. running during the translational movement of the support plate 5, as will be detailed later when explaining the operation of the bed.
  • the outer and inner ends of the guide opening 54 are respectively referenced 55 and 56, (55 'and 56' for the opening 54 ').
  • a handle 57 formed for example as illustrated in FIG. figure 3 by an oblong opening pierced in said plate and extending perpendicularly to the axis X-X ' .
  • the support plate 5 is provided with a locking device in the retracted position, consisting of a boss cooperating with a receiving housing of said boss (see FIG. figure 5 ).
  • a locking device in the retracted position, consisting of a boss cooperating with a receiving housing of said boss (see FIG. figure 5 ).
  • the boss 45 is provided on the lower face 431 of the backrest 43 of the bed, while the receiving housing 58 is provided on the support plate 5, near the handle 57 and opposite this boss when the support plate 5 is in the retracted position. The opposite would also be possible.
  • This locking device allows, when the bed is in the so-called “proclive” position, (that is to say that the bed is rectilinear but the headboard is raised relative to the foot), to prevent the support plate 5 does not slide out of bed due to its own weight.
  • the bed is in the position illustrated in figure 4 .
  • the care assistant wishes, she can slide the support plate 5 in the position illustrated in FIG. figure 1 by pulling on the latter with the handle 57 and taking care to unlock the locking device 45, 58. It can then deposit on the support plate 5 various objects, such as sheets or towels. blankets for example. It can then replace the plate 5 by sliding it in the other direction.
  • the support plate 5 is not likely to fit completely under the rigid panel 20 inadvertently since the front ends 55, 55 'of the oblong openings 54, 54' of the plate 5 abut against the flanges 411, 411 '.
  • the caregiver when the bed is to be occupied by a patient whose stature is greater than normal, the caregiver, always starting from the position illustrated in figure 4 can move the backrest 43 from the footboard 4 to outside, to bring it to the position illustrated in figure 6 , having taken care to unlock the wire 44 of the locking / unlocking device.
  • the fact of moving the crosspiece 41 and thus the fixing lugs 430, 430 'and the flanges 411, 411' towards the outside also causes the support plate 5 to move in translation towards the outside, because the flanges 411 411 'abut the outer ends 55, 55' of the oblong openings of the plate 5.
  • the support plate 5 is substantially in the same horizontal plane as the upper surface 200 of the rigid panel 20 and ensures the continuity thereof with a very small difference in height.
  • the carer can then place a piece of complementary mattress directly on the support plate 5 or install a new mattress longer than normal on the rigid panels 20, 21, 22 and 23 and said support plate 5.
  • the carer may, if desired, pull the support plate 5 further outward until it reaches the position illustrated in FIG. figure 7 .
  • the support plate 5 simultaneously performs the function of bed base and object door.
  • the outward movement of the support plate 5 is limited by the fact that the flanges 411, 411 'abut in the rear ends 56, 56' of the oblong orifices 54, 54 '. This makes it possible to prevent the support plate 5 from being totally inadvertently out.
  • the caregiver If, from the position illustrated in figure 7 , the caregiver wishes to bring the bed to a normal length, it can then operate the locking / unlocking device 44 and push the folder 43 of the bed to the center of the bed.
  • the flanges 411, 411 'abutting against the ends 56, 56' of the oblong orifices will also cause the support plate 5 to move towards the center of the bed until it reaches the position shown in FIG. figure 1 .
  • the carer may then choose to push the support plate 5 further to the position of the figure 4 .
  • the caregiver can first start by bringing back the support plate 5 in the position of the figure 6 , then lock it and then only push the backrest 43 against the rigid panel 20.
  • the device of the invention has been described as being provided at the footboard 4, however, it is obvious that this device could be provided at the headboard 3 and rigid panel 23, or that two identical devices could be provided simultaneously to the head and the footboard, without departing from the scope of the invention.
