Claims (18)

  1. Device for fixing a heating radiator to a wall, comprising at least one bracket (5) for supporting the radiator (1) fixed substantially vertically to the wall (M) and comprising a substantially horizontal lower arm (6) and a substantially horizontal upper arm (7) respectively adapted to support a lower portion of the radiator and to lock the rear wall of the radiator (1) to the wall (M) by means of locking means (10, 11, 16), characterised in that the locking means comprise a slot (10) in the upper arm (7) transverse to the wall and open at the free end of this arm, a locking stud (11) mounted on the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1) to project therefrom, and a locking shaft (16) fastened to the stud (11) substantially parallel to the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1) and adapted to engage in the slot (10) in the upper arm (7) and to be immobilised therein.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that it comprises a second bracket (5) for supporting the radiator (1), identical to the previously cited first bracket (5) and fixed substantially vertically to the wall (M) so that the two brackets (5) support the radiator in the vicinity of its ends.
  3. Device according to claim 2, characterised in that it comprises means (10, 11, 16) for locking the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1) to the upper arm (7) of the second bracket (5) and comprising a slot (10) in the upper arm (7) transverse to the wall (M) and open at the free end of this arm, a locking stud (11) mounted on the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1) and projecting therefrom, and a locking shaft (16) fastened to the stud (11) substantially parallel to the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1) and adapted to be engaged in the slot (10) in the upper arm of the second bracket (5) and to be immobilised therein.
  4. Device according to any of claims 1 to 3,
    characterised in that each locking stud (11) is attached to and slidably mounted in a groove (R) on the rear wall (3) of the radiator (M) to position it at a relative location enabling engagement of the locking shaft (16) in the slot (10) in the upper arm (7) of the corresponding bracket (5).
  5. Device according to claim 3, characterised in that each locking stud (11) has a head portion (12) to which the locking shaft (16) is fixed and a foot (14) for guiding and retaining the stud (11) in the groove (R) on the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1).
  6. Device according to claim 5, wherein the radiator (1) is of the circulating water type whose front wall (2) and rear wall (3) each comprise parallel flattened tubes (4) separated from each other by a distance defining a groove (R), characterised in that the foot (14) of each locking stud (11) has the shape of a (T) whose transverse portion (14a) bears on the respectively corresponding internal faces of two adjacent flattened tubes (4) on the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1) and whose leg (14b), which is attached to the head portion (12) of the stud (11), passes through the corresponding groove (R) between two adjacent flattened tubes (4).
  7. Device according to claim 6, characterised in that the plane face (12a) of the head portion (12) of the stud (11), to which the leg (14b) of the foot (14) is connected and which faces the two external faces of the previously cited two adjacent flattened tubes (4) of the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1), comprises two domed projections (15) situated on respective opposite sides of the leg (14b) and respectively bearing on the two external faces of the tubes (4) to retain the locking stud (11) at a selected relative position along the groove (R).
  8. Device according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the groove (R) in the rear wall (3) is vertical when the radiator is in the mounted position.
  9. Device according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the locking shaft comprises a screw (16) fixed into the head portion (12) of the locking stud (11) and whose head (18) is clamped against the upper arm (7) of the corresponding bracket (5) after engagement of the corresponding screwthreaded portion (17) of the screw (16) in the slot (10) of the corresponding upper arm (7).
  10. Device according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the lower arm (6) of each bracket (5) has a concave end (6a) forming a cradle receiving the lower portion of the radiator (1) and allowing it to tilt towards the wall (M) to a substantially vertical position locked to the upper arm (7) of the bracket (5).
  11. Device according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the upper arm (7) and the lower arm (6) of each bracket (5) are joined together by an upright (8) fixed to the wall (M), for example by fixing screws (9).
  12. Device according to any preceding claim, characterised in that each bracket (5) is made in one piece from a rigid metal strip such as a metal plate.
  13. Device according to any of claims 7 to 12, characterised in that distance between the end of each domed projection (15) of the transverse portion (14a) of the T-shaped foot (14) of each stud (11) is substantially equal to the thickness of each flattened tube (4).
  14. Device according to any of claims 6 to 13, characterised in that the transverse portion (14a) of the foot (14) of the stud (11) is a circular plate.
  15. Device according to any preceding claim, characterised in that each locking stud (11) is moulded from a rigid plastics material and takes the form of a section of a cylinder having a flat (13) in which is formed a bore adapted to receive the locking shaft (16).
  16. Device according to claim 15, characterised in that the aforementioned bore is screwthreaded if the locking shaft is a screw (16) for locking the locking stud (11) to the upper arm (7) of the corresponding bracket (15).
  17. A method of fixing a heating radiator to a wall using the fixing device described in any of claims 1 to 16, characterised in that it consists in fixing two vertical brackets (5) to the wall (M), for example by means of fixing screws (9), mounting two locking studs (11) provided with their locking shafts (16) in respective spaced parallel grooves (R) on the rear wall (3) of the radiator (1) at a particular relative position in the vicinity of the upper portion of the radiator, placing the lower portion of the radiator (1) on the two lower support arms (6) of the two brackets (5), and tilting the radiator (1) toward the wall (M) on the two lower arms (6) until the two locking shafts (16) enter the respective slots (10) in the two upper arms (7) of the brackets (5) to lock the radiator (1) therein.
  18. Method according to claim 17, characterised in that, when each locking shaft is a screw (16), it consists in tightening the screw so that the screwhead (18) bears on the corresponding upper arm (7) and locks the locking stud (11) to that arm.
