Apparatus according to Claim 2, characterised in that the device (36) for lowering the conveying belts (23a, 23b) has an eccentric belt-tensioning shaft (37) which is connected via belt-tensioning levers (38) to the conveying-belt shaft (20b) arranged downstream of the stop (29) in the sheet-conveying direction (28) and is adjustable between a position corresponding to the sheet-conveying position of the conveying belts (23a, 23b) and a position corresponding to the lowered position of the conveying belts (23a, 23b).

    with a sensor assigned to the stop (29), and
    with at least one device (30), arranged upstream of the stop (29) in the sheet-conveying direction (28) and controlled by the sensor, for slowing down the conveying speed of the sheet (21),

    that, on detection of a sheet feed, the connected rollers (45, 49) are moved in the sheet-conveying direction (28), whereby belt length is drawn in by the third roller (45) without being passed on to the section (53) of the conveying belts (23a) in the working region of the folding blade (22),
