Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for operating a Fuel injector, in which a piezoelectric actuator via a hydraulic coupler Closing member drives. It continues to refer to Fuel injection system with a number of such Injectors.
- An essential component can be in a Internal combustion engine for introducing the fuel into the combustion chambers of the cylinders have a fuel injection system are used.
- a fuel injection system typically includes a number of injectors that individually or in the manner of a so-called common rail system (CR-Systems) via a central Supply system can be fueled.
- CR-Systems common rail system
- each injector is typically in an associated injector integrated, via the fuel injection in a predeterminable manner is adjustable.
- the injectors can be used for an electrical Control can be provided with a piezoelectric actuator.
- Such an injector for the Fuel injection into the combustion chamber Internal combustion engine with a high pressure system or CR system is known from DE 197 328 02.
- This injector is designed in a double-switching manner and has a Locking member on, which is in one of two alternatives Valve seats are each in a closed position and thereby closing the injection nozzle. In a This takes the middle position between the two valve seats Locking member, however, an open position.
- a piezoelectric actuator drivable.
- the piezoelectric Actuator charged to a control voltage by the pressure in the Common rail system is dependent. Due to the The control voltage expands in the longitudinal direction. This linear expansion is done using a hydraulic coupler transferred to the closure member, so that on the one hand the stroke generated by the actuator is amplified and on the other hand that Closure member of a possible static Thermal expansion of the actuator is decoupled.
- a charge of the piezoelectric actuator thus causes the hydraulic coupler a transfer of the closing member first from the first closed position to the Open position and then from the open position to the second closed position.
- discharging the piezoelectric actuator due to the associated Longitudinal contraction using the hydraulic coupler a transfer of the closure member initially from the second closed position in the open position and then from the open position to the first closed position.
- the internal combustion engine is the injection for each cylinder the correct or required amount of fuel on the one hand at the right time, based on the Total injection cycle, otherwise required.
- the Injection valve known from DE 197 328 02 can, however a so-called bouncing of the closure member occur at which the closure member after a transfer from the Opening position in one of the closing positions is not comes to rest immediately in the corresponding valve seat, but first again in the manner of springing back Releases the opening gap before it is finally in the Valve seat remains. It can with regard to Injection quantity of the fuel or in terms of Injection time related to the injection cycle overall a deviation from the specified target values occur so that not in all operating states proper fuel injection.
- the invention is therefore based on the object Method for operating an injection valve for Fuel in which a piezoelectric actuator has a hydraulic coupler drives a closing member, specify with which also when bouncing the closure member a particularly reliable fuel injection is guaranteed.
- a for the implementation of the Process particularly suitable fuel injection system can be specified.
- this object is achieved according to the invention solved by its after a charging process of an actuator Terminal voltage monitored and for detection of reaching a closed position of the closure member becomes.
- the invention is based on the consideration that for a particularly reliable fuel injection one possible Bouncing of the closure member in the formation of Control values for the actual injection process should be taken into account. With such bouncing the pressure build-up in the injection system is delayed, which only begin after the valve seat has been closed can. This results in those that are otherwise kept constant Parameters affect the opening time of the Injection valve and thus the injection quantity. Both Consequences are, however, by adapting for Injection relevant parameters, especially valve lift and duration of the actual injection, can be compensated. With in other words, reaching the closed position of the Locking member should be grasped based on this finding subsequently adjusted control values for the To be able to form injection with which also bouncing occurred compliance with the specified Injection quantity and the specified injection time is guaranteed.
- this can be done as a suitable parameter on the basis of which the detection reaching the closing position or the seat recognition can be made, the temporal development of the Terminal voltage of the respective actuator can be used.
- the loading phase it builds in the hydraulic Coupler a pressure on that even after the termination of the Charges back on the piezoelectric actuator and in this one with a separate power supply for the Pressure conditions in the coupler and therefore also for the Implementation of the control voltage in valve lift characteristic piezo voltage generated.
- the Terminal voltage at the piezoelectric actuator can therefore be without the requirement of an additional sensor as a measurement parameter for the valve behavior can be used.
- the temporal Course of the terminal voltage advantageously on the Occurrence of a minimum monitored in the course of the curve.
- the Coupler pressure increases after charging the Actuator over time initially, since the actuator after The charging process is almost complete Stroke has reached, whereas the closing member is closed at this point still moved to the closed position and the coupler is thus relaxed.
- the closing member has reached the closed position and due to the Bouncing back towards the open position, however, the one in the coupler is compressed Medium, resulting in an increase in terminal voltage noticeable.
- the minimum occurring in the course of the voltage thus identifies the point in time when the Closing member its closed position or its valve seat has reached.
- the determined time of reaching the closed position Correction value for a control parameter of the Fuel injection system derived. It can in particular a correction value for the control voltage of the Actuator and / or for the activation time and / or for the Duration of the charging process.
- the Information obtained through seat recognition in Art an actual value in a particularly favorable manner the control of the subsequent injection cycles be taken into account.
- the diagnostic unit is used to form a statement Seat detection of each injector based on the time Course of the terminal voltage signal determined for this intended.
- the statements made during the prompt diagnosis are also correct for later applications, e.g. inspections or Overhaul measures to be maintained is the Diagnostic device in a further expedient embodiment connected to a data storage module.
- the advantages achieved with the invention exist especially in that by monitoring the Terminal voltage in a simple way and without additional constructive effort a timely and reliable Seat detection for each individual injection valve enables is.
- the fuel injection system can also bouncing of a closing member in particular operate reliably, after bouncing especially immediate corrective actions, for example with regard to tracking the control voltage for any actuator that can be made.
- the injection valve 1 according to FIG. 1 has one piezoelectric actuator 2, which has a number of Piezo elements 4 connected in series comprises.
- the Actuator 2 is on the one hand with a housing wall 6 through which Terminals 7 of the actuator 2 are passed, and on the other hand with a control piston 8 non-positively connected.
- the actuating piston 8 closes with its actuator 2 end face 9 facing away from a hydraulic coupler 10.
- the hydraulic coupler 10 in turn acts on one in a connecting channel 12 guided adjusting piston 14 whose end facing away from the coupler 10 is a closing member 16 is arranged.
- This is as a double closing Control valve designed. It closes in a first Closed position, which is a rest position of the actuator 2 corresponds to a first valve seat 18 of a valve chamber 20. In a second closed position, that of a maximum Activation of the actuator 2 corresponds to that closes Closing member 16, however, a second valve seat 22 of the Valve chamber 20.
- the Valve chamber 20 connected to a guide channel 24, the not on the input side via a connector 26 to one shown pressure channel of a common rail fuel supply system a motor vehicle connected.
- the injection valve 1 but also part of a fuel supply system individual feeding of the injection nozzles.
- a nozzle needle 28 is arranged, the a fuel outlet 30 from the connector 26 branching fuel channel 32 depending on one over the Terminals 7 applied to the actuator 2 control voltage Releases or locks, among other things.
- the connector 26 with a Inlet throttle 34 and the guide channel 24 with a Flow restrictor 36 are the connector 26 with a Inlet throttle 34 and the guide channel 24 with a Flow restrictor 36 provided.
- the injection valve 1 is, together with others Injectors 1, part of a fuel injection system 40, as shown schematically in Figure 2. there are the injection valves 1, of which in Figure 2 the For the sake of clarity, only four are shown, on the fuel side to a common supply line 42 connected. The number of for that Fuel injection system 40 provided injection valves 1 depends on the other requirements of the supplying internal combustion engine, in particular can Injector 1 for each cylinder to be fed be provided.
- a central Control unit 44 For electrical control of the injection valves 1 includes the fuel supply system 40 a central Control unit 44. This in turn has a control module 46 on that via lines 48 to the terminals 7 of the Injector 1 is connected to be switched off.
- the control unit 44 includes a diagnostic unit 50 which is on a number assigned to each of the injection valves 1 and connected to their terminals 7 Voltage measuring devices 52 is connected.
- everyone Voltage measuring device 52 is a differentiating element 53 assigned that in the exemplary embodiment as digital Differentiator and trained in the diagnostic unit is integrated. Alternatively, an analog one can also be used Differentiator may be provided.
- the Control unit 44 has a data storage module 54.
- the Control unit 44 When operating the fuel supply system 40, the Control unit 44 in an injection cycle over the Control module 46 a control voltage Ua to the Terminals 7 of each injector 1. In Depending on this control voltage Ua, the Actuator 2 of the controlled injection valve 1 in its Longitudinal direction, so that the adjusting piston 8 in the direction of the hydraulic coupler 10 moves. As a result of this caused pressure increase in the coupler 10 also moves Adjusting piston 14 with the closure member 16 arranged thereon towards the second valve seat 22.
- each injector 26 has a high pressure at one Common rail system, for example, between 200 and 1800 bar can be. This pressure acts against the nozzle needle 28 and keeps it closed so that through the fuel spout 30 no fuel can leak. But if now as a result of the control voltage Ua applied to the actuator 2 Closing member 16 from the first valve seat 18 to the second Valve seat 22 or vice versa, then builds Pressure in the high pressure area of the guide channel 24, so that the nozzle needle 28 in the direction of the valve chamber 20 backs away and releases the fuel outlet 30. In in this case, fuel is injected into the assigned cylinder.
- Closure member 16 In fuel injection, a bounce of the Closure member 16 occur. Here it comes Closure member 16 after a transfer from the Opening position in one of the closing positions is not directly in the corresponding valve seat 18 or 22 Rest, but gives first in the manner of a spring back again an opening gap of the valve chamber 20 free before it finally remains in the valve seat 18 or 22. It can with respect to the amount of fuel injected or also with respect to the injection timing related to the overall injection cycle is a deviation from the predetermined setpoints occur.
- the seat is recognized after the actuator has been charged 2 of the respective injection valve 1, the control module 46 of the terminals 7 of the actuator 2 separately. Instead of Control module 46 is for the duration of a predetermined Measuring window to the terminals 7 of the actuator 2 Associated voltage measuring device 52 connected Measurement data output to the connected diagnostic unit 50 become.
- the measurement data can be directly, for example as analog voltage signal, transmitted to the diagnostic unit become.
- a direct one takes place in this phase Monitoring of the terminal voltage Uk of the actuator 2 as a function the passing time.
- the formation of the time derivative of the Terminal voltage Uk of the respective actuator 2 is provided. To the voltage signals are that of the voltage measuring device 52 assigned differentiator 53 supplied. These The differentiated signals formed are then sent to the Diagnostic unit 50 transmitted. In both alternatives from the time behavior of the terminal voltage Uk in the Diagnostic unit 50 on reaching the respective Closed position of the closure member 16 closed.
- the time is used to identify the seat of the closing member 16 Course of the terminal voltage Uk on the occurrence of a At least monitored in the course of the curve.
- the pressure in the hydraulic Coupler 10 first, since the actuator 2 after completion of the The loading process has almost reached its full stroke has, whereas the closure member 16 to this Point in time to the closed position and the Coupler 10 is thus relaxed. This pressure drop is over the monitoring of the terminal voltage Uk on the actuator 2 in the Form of a reduction that occurs as a function of time of the terminal voltage Uk detectable.
- This time course of the terminal voltage Uk is exemplary of an injection process in FIG. 3 shown.
- a control voltage Ua is applied to the Terminal 7 of the actuator 2 created.
- the Control voltage Ua is initially raised to 0V from the initial value an intermediate level of about 75 V, for example.
- This charging process is at time t1 ended by reaching the target voltage.
- the actuator 2 is disconnected from the control module 46 and the terminal voltage Uk from the voltage measuring device 52 recorded.
- the injector 1 behaves with regard to the injection quantity actually delivered and the injection timing in a predictable manner.
- the basis for the detection of the time t2 can thus by suitable adjustment of the control parameters for the Injector 1 a predetermined injection quantity and a predetermined injection time even when bouncing Closure member are observed.
