Description
The invention is based on a blower according to the preamble of claim 1.
In reciprocating internal combustion engines with three-way catalysts, fresh air is blown into the exhaust system by secondary blowers during a cold start, in particular, to initiate an exothermic post-oxidation of the unburned carbon compounds. The combustion process reduces the proportion of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas and, if appropriate, quickly brings the catalyst up to a favorable operating temperature.
The blowers cause strong noises, especially when high flow velocities and high pressure boosts are generated at high speeds. To reduce the noise, the fresh air can be sucked in via an air filter of the reciprocating internal combustion engine. For this purpose, however, additional lines are required, which means a lot of effort. Is the fresh air through an unlocked opening aspirated from the open air, separate silencers are usually used in the intake area.
From DE 42 05 489 A1 discloses a blower is known, the muffler is mounted as a separate component on the blower. It has a housing pot with a flat bottom of the pot, with a pot wall and with a housing cover closing the pot opening. An air inlet opening in the pot wall and an air outlet channel with a central opening in the housing cover are connected by a spiral channel, which is formed by an insulating insert of open-pore sound absorption material. In the axial direction of the muffler, the channel extends from the bottom of the pot to the housing cover and is axially limited by these parts. The silencer is installed in a suction line of the blower via connecting pieces. Such mufflers can also be used for other purposes, especially in blowers for ventilation systems of motor vehicles.
From DE 196 31 664.2 a fan with a muffler is known, which has a housing with an air inlet opening on the circumference and an air outlet channel with an air outlet opening on one end face. The air outlet opening is arranged centrally or eccentrically and connected to an inlet opening in an end wall of the blower housing. The housing of the muffler is attached to the fan housing and open in the direction of the fan, wherein the end wall serves as a common partition between the housing of the muffler, which has no housing cover, and the fan housing. A layer of sound absorbing material abuts directly on the blower housing. As a result, a housing cover of the muffler is saved and reduces the sound radiation of the fan.
In order to mount a blower impeller on a drive shaft, the blower housing is split in a plane transverse to the drive shaft. The two parts are screwed together. For this purpose, the parts of the blower housing have cylindrical mating surfaces on the circumference. For mounting the silencer on the fan also contact surfaces and fasteners are required.
From EP-A-0840 063 a generic (corresponding to the preamble of claim 1) fan with an electric motor is known, on the drive shaft, a radial impeller sits, whose fan housing has an inlet opening in a frontal wall. Through this air is sucked. To the inlet opening connects to the outside of a silencer, the housing is fastened with fastening elements to the fan housing. The housing of the muffler and the blower housing have a common end wall which is formed by a disc with a central inlet opening. The disc is clamped between the muffler and the blower housing and limits the space for the impeller.
According to the invention, the disc is stamped from sheet metal and designed the inlet opening funnel-shaped. It has a molded collar which projects into the space for the impeller, with the diameter of the inlet opening and the radius of the integrally formed collar adapted to the optimum operating point of the fan. The sheet metal plate can be easily modified in its strength and design, whereby the sound radiation spectrum can be matched to the installation conditions. At the same time the insulating effect is improved by the mass of the material. The sheet metal disc is in a frontal Recess at the blower housing joined and centered on the circumference.
The housing of the muffler expediently has on its side facing the blower housing a collar which is joined in a recess of the blower housing. Both parts are centered in this way to each other, the muffler can be rotated relative to the blower to the drive axis, so that the position of its air inlet opening can be easily adapted to the installation conditions in the vehicle. Advantageously, the housing of the muffler has a further integrally formed collar which covers the fan housing on the circumference. Thus, the fan is sealed in this area, so that no external air can get into the blower or sound to the outside.
The fact that the silencer covers the entire end face of the blower, the sound-radiating surface of the blower housing is greatly reduced. In addition, the large circumference of the silencer allows a long channel, which also has a positive effect on the sound attenuation.
The silencer housing is secured to the blower housing by means of retaining clips, which simplifies assembly and disassembly and facilitates alignment of the silencer. Furthermore, the blower housing can be produced more cheaply, since, for example, fasteners for fasteners omitted.
