- FIG. 1 shows a road vehicle 1 for collecting waste, for example of the plastic bottle type, which, in known manner, comprises a chassis 2, a front cab 3 for driving, wheels 4 driven by a motor to allow its displacement.
- the chassis 2 carries at the rear, in a known manner, a bucket 5 consisting of a bottom 6, two side walls 7, a front wall 8, a rear door 9 together forming a receptacle, and a roof 10 covering the major rear part of said receptacle, as more clearly visible in Figure 1, so as to provide an opening 1 1 in the front part of the bucket 5 for loading waste or load.
- the bucket 5 is arranged on a cradle 12 and articulated in its rear part thereto, about a transverse axis 13, so as to allow the tilting of the bucket 5 around this axis 13 under the action of a cylinder 14, during the emptying phases of the bucket.
- the cradle 12 is held on the chassis 2 by means of a fitting 15 which will be described in more detail in the following description.
- This chassis 2 also comprises, in a known manner, between the cabin 3 and the bucket 5 a lifting means 16, of the crane type, of the various containers 17 or waste collection column.
- the bucket 5 is provided with a substantially vertical wall 18, designated in the following description of the gland shield, which is movable in the bottom 6 thereof under the action of the jack 14.
- This gland shield 18 is extended longitudinally towards the rear door 9, in its lower part symmetrically with respect to a median longitudinal axis by a tunnel 19 in which the jack 14 is housed, as more clearly visible in FIG. 1.
- the jack 14 is, in a conventional manner, constituted by a body 20 fixed at one of these ends around a joint 21 secured to the cradle 12 and a rod 22 whose free end of the latter is fixed at tunnel 14.
- the downstream end 24 of the tunnel 19, considering FIG. 1, is guided by a beam 25 having for example the general shape of a "I" which is arranged longitudinally along the median axis of said bucket, in the rear part on the bottom of the latter.
- Locking means 30 for selecting either the displacement of the gland shield 1 8 longitudinally in the bucket or a dump body, as shown in Figure 7, are arranged in front of the bucket.
- These locking means 30 consist of latches 31, 32 respectively intended to engage in orifices 3 1a, 32a produced in yokes, as shown in Figures 5 and 6, which are movable transversely under the action of a control lever 33 so as to lock either the front of the bucket with the cradle by engaging the latches 31 (FIG. 5) or the gland shield 18 with the bucket by engaging the latches 32 (FIG. 6).
- the bucket 5 comprises a device 40 for compacting the load in the direction in particular of the bottom 6.
- This compacting device 40 consists of a first flap
- Each of these flaps 41, 43 are shaped so that in the open position the latter form a hopper for loading the load so as to guide the flow of waste in the bucket.
- the first flap 41 advantageously consists of a transverse wall 44 having one of its ends articulated around the axis
- This first flap 41 is controlled by means of two jacks 52, 53 arranged longitudinally relative to the bucket.
- Each of these jacks 52, 53 consists of a body connected to the upper part of the gland shield 18 and of a rod connected to the folded end of the transverse wall 44.
- the first flap 41 is also provided in the vicinity of the articulation 42 with a valve 60 - or flap - articulated freely around a transverse axis 60a parallel to the articulation axis 42.
- This valve 60 extends vertically towards the bottom of the bucket in the open position of the first flap 41 and is intended to be pushed towards the front of the bucket by the waste so as to obstruct the space 62 formed between the hinge of the flap 41 and the gland shield 18 in order to avoid the waste being raised by said space 62 on the top of the flap during in particular a phase of compacting its waste.
- the second flap 43 comprises a first element 54 consisting of a transverse wall and a second element 55 also consisting of a transverse wall articulated around an axis A parallel to the axis 44 of the first element 54 and able to be foldable on the latter 54.
- This first element 54 is mounted articulated around the transverse axis 44 and is able to move around this axis by means of two jacks 56 arranged on either side of the bucket, as visible in FIG. 8, and each having the end of the body of the jack fixed to a side wall and the rod of the jack connected to one of the side edges of the first element 54.
- the second element is also able to take a first open position relative to the first element 54 and a second closed position in which the first and the second element are folded over one another, as visible on the FIGS. 3 and 4, for example by means of jacks 57 arranged, as visible in FIGS. 1 to 8, between the two elements 54, 55.
- the operation of the compacting device of the present invention will now be described in relation to FIGS. 1 to 7.
- the operator chooses beforehand according to the size and shape of the container that he must unload in the bucket 5, to open the two flaps 41 and 43 at most as visible in FIG. 1 or at least leaving the second flap 43 in the closed position and placing the second element 55 of this second flap 43 in the open position, as visible in FIG. 2, thus providing with the first flap 41 a hopper so as to guide the flow of waste in the bottom of the bucket.
- the operator lifts the container so as to present it at the opening 1 1 of the bucket.
- the opening of the container can be controlled by bringing, as shown in the embodiment described, a lever 70 integral with said container in contact with the end for example of the first flap 41, thus releasing the waste collected in the bucket 5.
- flaps 41, 43 or 41, 55 in the form of a hopper advantageously makes it possible to avoid sending waste outside the bucket, the latter being guided and retained by the compaction flaps.
- the container is then rested on the ground, by means of the lifting device 16.
- the operator by means of the control lever 33 locks the front of the bucket with the cradle, introducing the latches 3 1 into the holes 3 1 a , then controls the closing of the compaction flaps, as shown in Figure 3.
- a compaction cycle of the waste intended to reduce the volume of the latter is then carried out by controlling the movement of the gland shield 1 8 by means of the jack 14 by longitudinal reciprocating movements in said bucket 5. During this displacement the waste comes into contact with the valve 60 thus pushing the latter towards the gland shield 1 8 and consequently obstructing the space 62.
- rollers 71 are provided at the end of the folded-down part of the first flap 41 so as to allow it to slide under the second flap 43.
- the gland shield 18 is repositioned in its rest position in contact with the front wall 8 of the bucket 5, as shown in FIG. 1.
- a removable or articulated transverse bar 80 about a vertical axis 81 secured to one of the side walls 7 is disposed substantially in the middle part of the bucket 5, so as to limit the return of the compacted waste towards the before the latter, in particular for waste of the plastic bottle type which has a strong elastic characteristic.
- This bar 80 is immobilized in transverse position by means, for example, of a hook 100, as visible in FIG. 8.
- the operator can go to a waste treatment area, where he will have to empty the contents of the bucket.
- the operator opens the rear door 9 of the bucket 5 and controls the actuation of the jack 14, thereby causing the bucket 5 to pivot about the axis 13, as shown in FIG. 7.
- the bar 80 is free to be able to pivot around its axis 81 thus allowing the release of the waste, so that in the final phase this bar is found along the side wall 7 of the bucket 5.
- the second compacting flap 43 has the general shape of any triangle T in longitudinal section, thus defining two transverse walls 84,
- the opposite end to the joining end 83 of one of these walls 84 is articulated around the transverse axis 44 while the end of the other wall 85 is connected at least to the rod of at least one jack 87.
- the wall 85 of the second flap 43 is connected to two jacks 87 arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bucket 5, as shown in FIG. 12.
- This second flap 43 is able to take three positions, respectively opening (Figure 9), closing ( Figure 10) and reduced opening ( Figure 1 1).
- the first compaction flap 41 may include perforations 90, shown in FIG. 12, allowing the operator to control the height of the waste in the bucket 5 or the emptying of the container.
- the gland shield 18 has openings 91 allowing the passage of longitudinal bars 92 fixed on the one hand to the bar 80 and on the other side to the front wall 8 of the bucket by means, for example, of pins 93
- These bars associated with the bar 80 advantageously make it possible to place the container so as to open the latter.
- non-return bars 94 longitudinal of the waste are hingedly connected at one of their ends around a transverse axis 95 integral with the bar 80. These non-return bars 94 are intended to be lifted under the action of the waste introduced, until their contacts abut against the roof.
- the non-return bars 94 can advantageously be replaced by a transverse flap articulated around a transverse axis secured to the side walls 7 of the bucket. This flap is thus able to pivot under the action of the waste between at least two stops 99, shown in silhouette in FIG. 10, integral with the walls 7.
- the jack 14 unlike the first embodiment, can be connected to the bottom 6 of the bucket and disposed substantially horizontally inside the latter as visible in FIG. 10.
- a telescopic jack is arranged substantially vertically between the bottom of the bucket and the cradle 12 or chassis of the vehicle so as to tilt the bucket around the axis 13 .
- This embodiment thus makes it possible to move the gland shield 18 in the bucket and consequently the first compaction flap 41 during a tipping or tilting operation.
- locking means 30 are adapted and shaped so as to be fixed on the fitting 1 5, as visible in Figures 1 3 and 14, respectively illustrating the locking the gland shield 1 8 with the bucket and locking the front of the bucket with the chassis 2 or cradle 12.
- the bucket can accommodate a larger volume of waste, and allows to compact it very quickly, by simple and reliable means.
- the bucket can be mounted on a trailer or a vehicle.
