- the insurance premium can be determined, for example, by the sum of a fixed basic amount (for vehicles which are not in motion) and a variable amount as a function of the effective time for which the vehicle is in use during the period of validity of the contract.
- the insurance company providing the service can make available to its clients a microprocessor card of the type described, which the client will have to take care to insert into the control device previously installed on his motor vehicle.

This can occur within a short period of time (for example a fortnight) of "extra" operation for which the card was programmed, which may subsequently be deducted in the reprogramming of the same card to renew the insurance contract.
