Abstract

Beschrieben wird ein Treibgas für brennkraftbetriebene Werkzeuge, insbesondere für Setzgeräte für Befestigungselemente, auf der Grundlage brennbarer Gase enthaltend ein Gemisch aus (A) 40 bis 70 Gew.-% Dimethylether, Distickstoffmonoxid und/oder Nitromethan, (B) 8 bis 20 Gew.-% Propylen, Methylacetylen, Propan und/oder Propadien und (C) 20 bis 45 Gew.-% Isobutan und/oder n-Butan.

Description

Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Treibgas für brennkraftbetriebene Werkzeuge, insbesondere für Setzgeräte für Befestigungelemente, auf der Grundlage brennbarer Gase.
Brennkraftbetriebene Werkzeuge der in Rede stehenden Art, namentlich Setzgeräte für Befestigungselemente, sind aus der DE-A-4 032 202 bekannt. Mit Hilfe dieser Werkzeuge können Befestigungselemente, wie beispielsweise Nägel, Bolzen usw.; direkt unter Einwirkung der Brennkraft, normalerweise einer Pulverladung, in Materialien, beispielsweise Holz, Stahl, Beton und dergleichen, an denen das entsprechende Bauteil befestigt werden soll, eingetrieben werden.
Solche brennkraftbetriebenen Werkzeuge umfassenbeispielsweise eine Brennkammer und einen in einer Kolbenführung beweglichen Kolben, der von den in der Brennkammer erzeugten expandierenden Verbrennungsgasen beaufschlagt wird. Durch Entzünden eines innerhalb der Brennkammer vorhandenen Luft/ Brennstoffgemisches oder durch Zünden einer Pulver-Treibladung wird der Kolben von der Brennkammer weg bewegt, schlägt auf das Befestigungselement auf und treibt dieses in das Unterlagenmaterial ein. Dabei hängt die durch die Verbrennung des Treibgases gewonnene Energie sehr stark von der Verbrennungsgeschwindigkeit ab, die wiederum vom Luft/Gas-Verhältnis abhängt.
Brennkraftbetriebene Werzeuge dieser Art sind beispielaweise aus der DE-A-40 32 20 und der US-A-5 842 623 bekannt.
Das in der US-A-5 842 623 beschriebene brennkraftbetriebene Werkzeug wird mit einem Gemisch aus Methylacetylen und Propadien oder einem Gemisch aus Propan, Butan, Propylen oder Ethan als Treibgas betrieben. Bei handelsüblichen brennkraftbetriebenen Werkzeugen der in Rede stehenden Art werden insbesondere Mischungen aus Methylacetylen, Propadien, Propylen und Butan eingesetzt, die auch unter dem Namen MAPP bekannt sind. Dieses Gas ist ein Abfallprodukt, das beim Verkoken von Steinkohle entsteht und das eine relativ hohe Brenngeschwindigkeit bietet, was für einen hohen Wirkungsgrad der Werkzeuge wichtig ist.
Diese herkömmlichen Treibgase besitzen jedoch erhebliche Nachteile. So enthalten die üblicherweise eingesetzten MAPP-Mischungen meistens kleine Anteile an Butadien, welches giftig und nur in Mengen von unterhalb von 0,1 Gew.% zulässig ist. Reine, Butadien-freie MAPP-Gase sind schwer erhältlich und kostspielig. Übliche Kohlenwasserstoffgemische oder reine Brenngase, wie Butan oder Propan, brennen langsamer und eignen sich für den vorliegenden Anwendungszweck nicht.
Insbesondere zeigen die meisten bekannten als Treibgase eingesetzten Gasmischungen eine langsame und schwache Verdampfung bei tiefen Temperaturen (- 5°C) auf, was jedoch für die in Rede stehenden Werkzeuge problematisch ist, die auf Baustellen auch bei Temperaturen unterhalb 0°C einsetzbar sein müssen.
Kohlenwasserstoffe, die schnell brennen, sind andererseits nur unter hohen Kosten zu beschaffen und besitzen häufig zu hohe Dampfdrücke, was die Einhaltung der behördlich vorgeschriebenen Vorschriften zur Handhabung von Aerosolen erschwert.
Die Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung besteht somit darin, ein Treibgas für brennkraftbetriebene Werkzeuge, insbesondere für Setzgeräte für Befestigungselemente anzugeben, welches ungiftig ist, einfach und kostengünstig beschafft werden kann, die erforderliche Verbrennungsenergie bereitstellt, eine gezielte Einstellung dieser Verbrennungsenergie ermöglicht, auch bei tiefen Temperaturen einsetzbar ist und die Aerosolvorschriften einzuhalten ermöglicht.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß gelöst durch den Einsatz eines Treibgases in Form eines Gemisches aus drei Bestandteilen in bestimmten Mengenverhältnissen, wobei diese Bestandteile ihrerseits Mischungen darstellen können.
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist daher das Treibgas gemäß Anspruch 1. Die Unteransprüche betreffen bevorzugte Ausführungsformen dieses Erfindungsgegenstandes.
Das erfindungsgemäße Treibgas ist ein Gemisch enthaltend (A) 40 bis 70 Gew.- % Dimethylether, Distickstoffmonoxid und/oder Nitromethan, (B) 8 bis 20 Gew.-% Propylen, Methylacetylen, Propan und/oder Propadien und (C) 20 bis 45 Gew.-% Isobutan und/oder n-Butan, wobei die Summe der Bestandteile 100 Gew.-% beträgt.
Die Bestandteile (A), (B) und (C) können für sich jeweils einen oder mehrere Vertreter der angegebenen brennbaren Gase enthalten.
Der Bestandteil (A) ist vorzugsweise in einer Menge von 50 bis 60 Gew.-%, der Bestandteil (B) in einer Menge von 10 bis 15 Gew.-% und der Bestandteil (C) in einer Menge von 25 bis 35 Gew.-% des Gemisches vorhanden.
Bevorzugt enthält das erfindungsgemäße Treibgas als Bestandteil (A) Dimethylether, als Bestandteil (B) Propylen und als Bestandteil (C) Isobutan. Gemäß einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform umfaßt das erfindungsgemäße Treibgas ein Gemisch aus 58 Gew.-% Dimethylether, 14 Gew.-% Propylen und 28 Gew.-% Isobutan.
Daneben können in dem erfindungsgemäßen Treibgas geringe Mengen anderer brennbarer Gase enthalten sein, welche ungiftig sind und den Dampfdruck und die Verbrennungsgeschwindigkeit des Gemisches nicht nachteilig beeinflussen.
Der erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt als Bestandteil (A) eingesetzte Dimethylether ist als Kühlemittel und als Treibmittel für Aerosolsprühdosen bekannt. In jüngster Zeit wird auch daran gedacht, Dimethylether als Brennstoff in der Automobilindustrie einzusetzen, wozu auf das US-Patent 5 626 294 verwiesen werden kann.
Mit Hilfe des Bestandteils (A) und insbesondere des erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt eingesetzten Dimethylethers gelingt es, ein Treibgas zu bilden, welches den gewünschten Verdampfungsdruck auch bei tiefen Temperaturen ermöglicht. Dimethylether besitzt ein relativ breites Zündfenster, d. h. ein großes Gas-Luft-Verhältnis, in welchem das Gemisch zündfähig ist. Dimethylether wird nicht als giftig eingestuft und es bewirkt überraschenderweise eine größere Brenngeschwindigkeit als das herkömmlich eingesetzte MAPP-Gemisch. Das Molekül des Dimethylethers enthält ein Sauerstoffatom, was zur besseren Verbrennung führt, was bedeutet, daß beim Einsatz des erfindungsgemäßen Treibgases prozentual weniger Luft zugemischt werden muß als bei reinen Kohlenwasserstoffen, was wiederum kleinere Brennkammern der brennkraftbetriebenen Werkzeuge ermöglicht und im Hinblick auf die ausgestoßenen Abgase von Vorteil ist. Der Verdampfungsdruck des Dimethylethers ist nicht zu hoch(5,1 bar (absolut) bei 20°C und 1 1,7 bar bei 50°C), so daß es sich für das Abfüllen in Aerosoldosen eignet, was den Einsatz des erfindungsgemäßen Treibgases in verdichteter oder verflüssigter Form im einem Druckbehälter mit Abgabeventil ermöglicht.
Für den angestrebten Einsatz als Treibgas für brennkraftbetriebene Werkzeuge entsprechend günstige physikalische und chemische Eigenschaften besitzen die als Bestandteil (A) ebenfalls einsetzbaren brennbaren Gase Distickstoffmonoxid und Nitromethan ebenfalls. Sie können daher im Fall von Nitromethan allein oder in Form von Mischungen untereinander und/oder in Kombination mit Dimethylether in dem beanspruchten Treibgas eingesetzt werden. Dabei werden die Einzelbestandteile in solchen Mengen eingesetzt, daß sich ein für cen Einsatzzweck geeigneter Dampfdruck ergibt.
Der Bestandteil (B), enthält in seinem Molekül eine reaktive Doppelbindung, welche zu einer besseren Verbrennung des Moleküls und damit der Treibgasmischung führt. Der relativ hohe Verdampfungsdruck dieses Bestandteils, namentlich des bevorzugt eingesetzten Propylens (10,2 bar bei 20°C und 5 bar bei - 5°C) begünstigt die Zerstäubung der weiteren Bestandteile des Treibgases durch die Düsen beim Einführen des Treibgases in die Brennkammer des Werkzeugs
Der Bestandteil (C), namentlich Isobutan wird zur Stabilisierung des Gemisches eingesetzt. Es ist oberhalb von -11,5°C gasförmig und erlaubt daher ebenfalls eine günstige Verbrennung.
Durch die Vereinigung von Dimethylether, Distickstoffmonoxid und/oder Nitromethan allein in Kombination miteinander, mit den weiteren erfindungswesentlichen Bestandteilen (B) und (C) ergibt sich ein Treibgasgemisch, welches sich durch eine überraschend vorteilhafte ausgewogene Kombination von physikalischen, chemischen und Umweltverträglichkeits-Eigenschaften auszeichnet. Sozeichnet sich das beanspruchte Treibgas aufgrund der Kombination der Bestandteile (A), (B) und (C) durch ein besonders praxisgerechtes Verhalten sowohl bei der Herstellung und Abfüllung, als auch und insbesondere bei der Handhabung, indem das Gemisch ohne weiteres die Anforderungen an Aerosole erfüllt, mit den üblichen Dosierventilen aus dem Druckbehälter entnommen werden kann, ohne daß sich Probleme mit den Materialien der Ventile ergeben. Darüber hinaus zeigt das erfindungsgemäße Treibgas auch bei tiefen Temperaturen (-5°C) eine hervorragende Zündfähigkeit und Verbrennungsgeschwindigkeit, wodurch das Setzen der Befestigungselemente auch unter klimatisch ungünstigen Bedingungen in einwandfreier und sicherer Weise gelingt.
Das erfindungsgemäße Treibgas kann zusätzlich mindestens ein Schmiermittel, beispielsweise auf Mineralölbasis oder Silikonölbasis, enthalten, zum Schmieren der Ventileinrichtungen, die zur Einführung des Treibgases in die Brennkammer erforderlich sind.
Das folgende Beispiel dient der weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung.
BEISPIEL
Es wird ein Treibgasgemisch aus 58 Gew.-% Dimethylether als Bestandteil (A), 14 Gew.-% Propylen als Bestandteil (B) und 28 Gew.-% Isobutan als Bestandteil (C) gebildet. Das Gemisch besitzt bei 50°C einen Verdampfungsdruck von 11,6 bar und erfüllt damit die gesetzlichen Aerosolvorschriften.
Beim Betrieb eines brennkraftbetriebenen Werkzeugs der in der DE-A-40 32 202 beschriebenen Art hat sich gezeigt, daß dieses Treibgase eine glatte rückstandsfreie Verbrennung mit ungiftigem schadstofffreiem Abgase bei hoher Energiefreisetzung ermöglicht, so daß die Befestigungselemente problemfrei in das Unterlagenmaterial eingetrieben werden. Dabei hat sich gezeigt, daß dieses Treibgas auch bei tiefen Temperaturen von -5°C problemlos einsetzbar ist.

Claims (7)

  1. Treibgas für brennkraftbetriebene Werkzeuge, insbesondere für Setzgeräte für Befestigungselemente, auf der Grundlage brennbarer Gase, gekennzeichnet durch ein Gemisch enthaltend (A) 40 bis 70 Gew.-% Dimethylether, Distickstoffmonoxid und/oder Nitromethan, (B) 8 bis 20 Gew.-% Propylen, Methylacetylen, Propan und/oder Propadien und (C) 20 bis 45 Gew.-% Isobutan und/oder n-Butan.
  2. Treibgas nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein Gemisch aus 50 bis 60 Gew.-% des Bestandteils (A), 10 bis 15 Gew.-% des Bestandteils (B) und 25 bis 35 Gew.-% des Bestandteils (C) umfaßt.
  3. Treibgas nach den Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es als Bestandteil (A) Dimethylether, als Bestandteil (B) Propylen und als Bestandteil (C) Isobutan enthält.
  4. Treibgas nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein Gemisch aus 58 Gew.-% Dimethylether, 14 Gew.-% Propylen und 28 Gew.-% Isobutan umfaßt.
  5. Treibgas nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es zusätzlich mindestens ein Schmiermittel enthält.
  6. Treibgas nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein Schmiermittel auf Mineralölbasis und/oder Silikonölbasis enthält.
  7. Treibgas nach mindestens einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es in verdichteter oder verflüssigter Form in einem Druckbehälter mit Abgabeventil vorliegt.
