Description

The present invention relates to a plastic lidded barrel with barrel body and mounted on barrel lid with inserted seal and clamping ring closure according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a lidded drum is known for example from the document US-A-5,225,125. It describes a manufacturing method and a sealing material for easy and reliable handling of drum lids for lidded drums and explained using the example of a plastic lidded barrel with barrel body, Faßdeckel and clamping ring closure, wherein the upper barrel opening edge the barrel in the closed state with attached clamping ring against a in the barrel lid inserted seal seals. The one substantially trapezoidal, inwardly open cross-section having clamping ring is in this case at a distance (about 50 mm) offset from the upper edge of the lid down and overlaps a lower edge of the lid radially projecting cover flange and within the Faßwandung massively upset Mantelflansch. This type of barrel is known worldwide as the "standard lidded barrel".
The Faßdeckel formed of hard plastic as slip lid has a downwardly open U-shaped lid edge with an outer and an inner annular lid bar, in which the seal is inserted. Within the U-shaped lid edge, a further rotationally symmetrical peripheral sealing web is provided between the two cover webs, which is enclosed by the injected foamed polyurethane seal. The seal rests with attached Faßdeckel on the upper, mouth edge of Faßkörperöffnung, which has the width of a simple Faßwandstärke.

Another plastic lidded drum is known from document FR-A-2 010 973. Here, the clamping ring overlaps with its upper leg the upper outer Edge of the barrel lid and with its lower leg in a Bordur or bead-like indentation in the barrel wall. The upper edge of the barrel opening and the outer edge of the barrel lid are reinforced. To reinforce the Faßöffnung is either a prefabricated plastic stiffening ring in the Inserted blow mold and when inflating the barrel body with the barrel wall welded, or the upper edge of the barrel wall is formed hook-shaped and folded outwards. In an annular groove of the reinforced cover edge is a gasket inserted against the upstanding sealing edge of the Cask mouth seals. Outside next to the sealing ring groove is in Cover edge spaced over a ring land a second annular groove provided. Accordingly, the reinforced edge of the barrel wall adjacent to the Seal edge on a second ring land, said second ring land in Closing state engages in the second annular groove of the lid edge: The lid edge has on the outside on a hook-shaped flange, which at clamped clamping ring lock a return in the reinforced edge of the Faßwandung engages behind. This as a snap lid made of soft plastic existing Faßdeckel has the serious disadvantage that it is for a multiple up and Discontinuation is completely unsuitable. When barrel falls, the cover bulges after outside, while the lid seal is relieved and leaking, especially This is because the seal is not covered by the clamping ring lock.

Another lidding barrel is described in document US-A-5 427 264. Out a one-piece, closed bung barrel as a starting product is by simple Cut out the topsoil and by placing a barrel lid with Seal and clamping ring closure made a lidded barrel.

Fig. 2). In a plastic lid barrel previous embodiment, the seal of the drum lid is held by the vertical cover outer web and the vertical cover inner ring (see Fig .. 2). In case tests (= Faßabstürzen) or internal pressure tests, the central cover disc bulged up and as a result deforms the vertical cover inner ring from its vertical position inwards and upwards, which relieves the seal, loses its sealing seat against the barrel opening edge and it can come in extreme areas to leaks.

Aufgabenstellung: Task :

It is an object of the present invention, a generic lidded barrel indicate that there is an increased connection of barrel lid with the Faßöffnungsrand improved sealing properties, especially at high Internal pressure or Faßabsturz (surge pressure) has.

The task is performed by a plastic lidded barrel solved according to claim 1.

In the lidded barrel according to the invention, the barrel lid within the U-shaped lid edge a further rotationally symmetrical circumferential sealing web on, with the seal between the outer annular cover web and the sealing ridge is disposed while between the sealing ridge and the inner annular lid bar a downwardly open annular space is formed, wherein the sealing web and the inner cover web from each other spaced and interconnected only via an upper connection.

This advantageous measure is in the barrel lid, which has the disadvantage of State of the art noticeably improved, even with considerable deformation of the vertical Cover inner ring inward and upward the seal through the continue vertically remaining sealing web not relieved. The seal is rather basically axially through the vertical web adjacent to the gasket and held radially better and seals even under extreme conditions of the Lidded barrel by reduced deformations in the sealing area the barrel mouth edge safely against the barrel lid off.

In one embodiment, it is provided that on the underside of the lid, to the inner annular cover web of the lid edge then, one in the circumferential direction circumferential and - viewed in the cross-sectional direction - self-contained Reinforcing element is arranged, which is hollow or foamed inside is. The hollow or foamed reinforcing element may be by gas injection technique during the depression of the heated plastic in the injection mold be formed. In another way, the reinforcing element can also by Welding a prefabricated, separate annular plastic part inside hollow but self-contained. By arranging the torsionally stiff Reinforcement element in the outer region of the barrel lid, in the Faßöffnung dips and is supported on the inside of this, is on appropriate Manner prevents the lid seal in case of deformation of the lid over a permissible level is relieved and loses its sealing effect. The upper barrel mouth edge has on the inside in addition to the circumferential sealing strip and from this slightly spaced one perpendicular upstanding profile ring on, with attached barrel lid in Closure state in the annular space between the sealing web and engages the inner annular cover web. As a result, even at great deformation of the cover inner ring no longer the risk of deformation of the additional vertical sealing web inwards or upwards, since the additional vertical sealing bar of the barrel lid of the additional vertical profile ring is engaged behind the upper edge of the barrel body and held fast. In the closed state of the attached and closed with clamping ring Faßdeckels overlap the upstanding profile ring and the downward facing Seal web at least 5 mm. The high profile ring can only segment by segment, d. H. interrupted or formed as a circumferential profile ring, then preferably at least one through its root area extending bore to drain any liquid contained therein is provided.

Hierdurch wird eine noch bessere Dichtwirkung bei Extrembeanspruchung erzielt.in a preferred embodiment is in the space between the sealing web and the inner annular lid bar another circumferential lid seal used in the closed state of the barrel lid against the upper edge of the high profile round profile ring the connection barrel opening edge / barrel lid edge additionally seals. As a result, an even better sealing effect is achieved Achieved extreme stress.

  • der zusätzliche senkrechte Profilring am Faßkörper ist teilweise unterbrochen, um die durch ihn gebildete Nute entwässern zu können;
  • der zusätzliche senkrechte Profilring am Faßkörper ist für einen besseren Halt des zusätzlichen senkrechten Deckel-Steges verlängert ausgebildet;
  • der zusätzliche senkrechte Profilring am Faßkörper dichtet in Verbindung mit einer Dichtung im Faßdeckel den Bereich Faßdeckel/Faßbordur zusätzlich ab;
  • die Anbindung der inneren Deckelscheibe auf der Innenseite des U-förmigen Deckelrandes ist in Höhe des unteren Randes des äußeren Deckelsteges oder tiefer darunterliegend ausgebildet;
The lidded barrel according to the invention is further distinguished by the following essential features and advantages:
  • the additional vertical profile ring on the barrel body is partially interrupted in order to drain the groove formed by it;
  • the additional vertical profile ring on the barrel body is designed to be longer for a better grip of the additional vertical cover web;
  • the additional vertical profile ring on the barrel body, in conjunction with a seal in the barrel lid, additionally seals off the area of the barrel lid / barrel border;
  • the connection of the inner cover disc on the inside of the U-shaped lid edge is formed at the level of the lower edge of the outer cover web or deeper underneath;
  • the connection of the inner cover disc on the inside of the U-shaped cover edge via an upwardly open, substantially U-shaped engagement groove with a flat groove bottom, the altitude of the inner cover disc or at least the central region of the cover disc is approximately flush in the height level of the upper Cover edge or up over it overhanging is formed.

In FIG. 1 , the reference numeral 10 designates a lidded drum comprising a drum body 12, a drum lid 14 and a clamping ring 16. The drum lid 14 is made of high molecular weight thermoplastic (HDPE) and is manufactured by injection molding. The barrel body 12 is also made of high molecular weight thermoplastic (HDPE) and is produced by injection molding, but preferably by blow molding. The clamping ring 16 is made of sheet steel or plastic. The edge of the lid and the rim of the rim are equipped with the special features according to the invention.

Figure 2 illustrates the deformation effect of increased internal pressure, in particular on the drum cover 14 of an already known lid barrel execution. In this lidded barrel, the barrel body 12 on the upper massively upset and thickened formed Faßöffnungsrand 18 a circumferential sealing strip 24 and the Faßdeckel 14 is equipped with a downwardly open U-shaped lid edge 20. The lid edge 20 is provided with an outer annular cover web 26 and an inner annular cover web 28, wherein between two cover webs 26, 28, a seal 22 is inserted (foamed or inserted). The clamping ring closure 16 has a substantially trapezoidal, inwardly open cross-section and engages in the locked state with its upper leg 30, the U-shaped lid edge 20 from above and engages under its lower leg 32 has a substantially radially outwardly projecting jacket flange 34 in Close range of the upper barrel opening edge 18. In the closed state of the clamping ring 16, the lid seal 22 is pressed to unfold its sealing effect against the sealing strip 24 of the upper barrel opening edge 18. Due to the internal pressure, the central cover plate 42 of the drum cover 14 bulges outwards in the axial direction. As a result, the inner cover web 28 of the cover edge 20 - as indicated by the arrows shown - retracted inwards and lifted or pushed down. This has the consequence that the cover gasket 22 is increasingly relieved on the inside, can dodge inward, and loses its sealing effect. Quite similar is the case with a barrel crash in the barrel lid areas with the greatest buckling effect of the barrel opening edge. A remedy for this disadvantageous sealing behavior is realized in an embodiment according to the invention shown in FIG . Here, between the outer cover web 26 and the inner cover web 28 of the downwardly open U-shaped cover edge 20, an additional axially downwardly facing sealing web 36 is formed. The cover seal 22 is now arranged and fixed between the outer cover web 26 and additional sealing web 36, wherein the sealing web 36 is formed to form a thin gap or at a short distance of about 2-4 mm from the inner cover web 28 and only an upper, comparatively thin connection 40 with this is in elastic bending connection. Below the flat or outwardly curved inner cover plate 42 connects to the lower edge of the inner cover web 28. The connection of the inner cover plate 42 on the inside of the U-shaped lid edge 20 may be formed at the level of the lower edge of the outer cover web 26, or - as shown in Fig. 4tiefer underneath. On the underside of the cover plate 42, two axially downwardly extending inner ring parts 64, 66 (cf., Fig. 5) or a self-contained hollow annular plastic part 56 may further be provided as the reinforcing element 54.

Fig. 10).Another embodiment in Figure 4 shows a barrel lid 14, with associated clamping ring 16 and the simple barrel opening edge 18 of a barrel body 12. Here, the barrel lid with an engagement groove 44 and a raised inner cover plate 42 is equipped. The engagement groove 44 has a depth of at least 15 mm and a shallow groove bottom 46 with a radial extent (width) of at least 10 mm for engagement of the upper jaw of a barrel gripper tool. On the inside of the groove bottom 46, a substantially axial or obliquely conically extending annular piece 70 rises as a connecting element to the reduced in diameter central cover plate 42. The height position of the inner cover plate 42 or at least the bulging central region of the cover plate 42 can - as shown - approximately flush in the height plane of the upper lid edge 20 or upwards over it be formed (see FIG .. 10).

A preferred embodiment with a reinforced trained barrel opening edge is shown in Figure 5 . The upper barrel opening edge 18 has in this case in addition to the circumferential sealing strip 24 and spaced therefrom a vertically upstanding profile ring 48 which engages with the barrel lid in the closed state in the annular space 38 between the sealing web 36 and the inner annular cover web 28. In this case, a circumferential holding groove 52 is formed between the upstanding profile ring 48 and the sealing web 36 on the inside of the upper barrel opening edge 18, in which engages the sealing web 36 of the barrel lid. In order to achieve a sufficient mutual support, it is provided that the upstanding profile ring 48 and the sealing web 36 in the closed state of the attached and closed with clamping ring 16 barrel lid 14 - in the axial direction - overlap by at least 5 mm. In this embodiment, the connection 40 of the inner cover web 28 at the upper lid edge 20 above the free space 38 is largely flexible elastic z. B. with a molding (in the manner of a Schamieres) formed. The upstanding profile ring 48 is here provided as a circumferential profile ring 48 with at least one extending through the root portion bore 50 so that possibly reached into the retaining liquid filling material can flow back inside into the barrel body.

In the modified embodiment shown in Figure 6 , the upstanding profile ring 48 is formed only in segments, ie interrupted, so that can accumulate in the holding 52 no liquid filling material. Here, the contact surface for the lower leg 32 of the clamping ring 18 has been widened characterized in that the jacket flange 34 is provided with a substantially at least 3 mm outwardly projecting flange edge extension 62. The inner annular cover web 28 is extended over the attachment point of the central cover plate 42 and the groove bottom 46 of the engagement groove 44 downwardly extended as an axially outer inner ring member 64. Furthermore, a second inner ring member 66 is formed on the underside of the barrel lid at a radial distance of at least 10 mm to the axially outer inner ring member 64. It can - as shown with attached barrel lid - the axial outer inner ring member 64 by at least 5 mm longer inwardly into the barrel body protruding than the second inner ring member 66 may be formed. In an advantageous embodiment and for stiffening the outer barrel opening edge, the clamping ring 16 has a subsequent to its lower leg 32, extending substantially in the axial direction, coming to rest on the outer barrel wall extension skirt 68. Advantageously, this extension skirt 68 engages in a recess in the outer barrel wall such that an attached barrel gripper or its lower barrel gripper claw when starting and accessing can not get caught on the retracted, flush with the outer barrel wall lower edge of the extension skirt. In this illustration, the feature essential to the invention is further apparent that at a stack load of the lidded barrel in a stacking z. B. three such barrels in the closed state of the outer cover web 26 on the flange edge extension 62 and the sealing web 36 rests in the groove bottom of the retaining groove 52, wherein viewed in the axial direction above the sealing strip 24, a gap of at least 2 mm for the lid seal 22 remains, so that even at Overload no permanent damage to the cover seal 22 may occur.

In the exemplary embodiment according to the invention shown in FIG. 7 , a reinforcing element 54, which is circumferential in the circumferential direction and adjoins the inner annular cover web 28 of the lid rim 20-viewed in the cross-sectional direction-is arranged on the underside of the cover, which is hollow on the inside. This hollow, but very rigid reinforcing member 54 can be made by applying the gas injection technique known per se during the injection molding process.

The exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 8 shows a self-contained foam-filled reinforcing element 54. The foamed-in reinforcing element can be produced by injecting a foaming agent into the injection mold or its cavity for the reinforcing agent.

Finally, FIG. 9 shows a variant in which the reinforcing element 54 can be formed hollow inside but closed by welding on a prefabricated, separate annular plastic part 56 (cf. also FIG. 3). In this embodiment, the sealing strip 24 is provided at the top with a small upstanding cam bar 70, which is pressed into the cover seal 22 and this additionally secures against lateral slipping.

FIG. 10 shows an exemplary embodiment in which at least one lateral bung closure 60 is arranged within the inner cover disc 42 as a 2-inch (approximately 50.8 mm) or 3-inch bung (approximately 76.2 mm). In the same way, a center-central bung closure with a corresponding bung size could also be formed inside the inner cover disk 42. The drum lid according to the invention have a comparatively large diameter of greater than 300 mm. In a substantially cylindrical lidded drum with a capacity of 35 US gallons (about 132.5 liters), the outer cover diameter is about 472 mm at a barrel height of about 860 mm, while in a lidded barrel (see Fig. 1) with A capacity of 55 US gallons (about 208 liters), the outer lid diameter is about 576 mm at a barrel height of about 898 mm. These barrels have about 15% larger barrel opening than conventional bulbous lidded barrels. For smaller stiffer lids (smaller than 200 mm) or screw caps, the problem of such Deckelausbeulung at internal pressure does not occur so seriously. In the illustrated lid shape, the two inner ring parts 64, 66 are each provided with at least one bore 72 in their root area. As a result, with complete filling of the lidded barrel with liquid contents, eg. B. through the bung closure 60, the air escape behind the inner ring parts. Likewise, these bores 72 allow residual liquid left behind the inner webs 64, 66 at a slightly inclined overhead evacuation position.

In the preferred embodiment according to FIG 11 is in the free space 38 between the sealing web 36 and the inner annular cover web 28, a second second circumferential cover seal 58 is inserted in the locked state of the Faßdeckels 14 against the upper edge of the upstanding circumferential profile ring 48, the connection barrel opening edge / Casing rim additionally seals. This double seal is particularly good for surge pressure z. B. suitable in a Faßabsturz.

DerIn the barrel with the greatest deformation, schematically represented in FIG. 12a, at the time of the ground impact (= jacket fall), a section line II along the impact axis is indicated. The influence of the mutual stress of Faßdeckelrand and Faßkörperrand at this point is explained in the partial sectional view of Figure 12b . Due to the impact energy, the lid 14 presses with its inner cover web 28 against the inner wall of the barrel opening edge 18 and the sealing web 36 laterally against the sealing strip 24 of the barrel opening edge. Although here the central cover plate 42 bulges outwardly to the outside, there is no special risk of a seal relief with leakage of the lidded barrel at this point. Rather, this risk occurs in the areas of the section line II-II approximately 45 ° to the impact axis in the barrel schematically shown in Figure 13a with the greatest deformation at the time of the ground impact (= Mantelfall). The reaction of the mutual stress of Faßdeckelrand and Faßkörperrand at this critical point is explained in the partial sectional view of Figure 13b . The barrel body 12 is not as stiff in the radial direction as the barrel lid 14. The barrel body 12 is deformed very much outwardly, especially in the area of the barrel opening edge 18, and additionally loads the joint barrel opening edge / barrel lid rim. Of the

Faßdeckel 14 can not expand in the same way with and in particular in the region of the engagement groove 44 and connection of the central cover plate 42 pulled this place very flat. So far, there was a risk that the lid seal 22 was relieved from the inside and the Faßdeckelrand under the Pull out clamping ring 16. This is in the lid construction according to the invention now no longer the case, because the outer cover web 26 laterally from the sealing strip 24th at the upper barrel opening edge 18 and the cover-side sealing web 36 laterally from the profile ring 48 is positively held. The lid edge is so 2-fold countered and the seat or the direct neighboring components around the lid seal 22 do not change their position to each other, so that the full sealing effect in advantageously remains undiminished.

It goes without saying that in the various embodiments shown special design features in a meaningful way with each other can be combined.
