A suction device for exhausting polluted air, comprising a suction arrangement provided in a housing, wherein the housing for exhausting the polluted air has a suction area on at least one side, and wherein a covering hood (2), which is slightly larger than the suction area (3), is arranged in front of the suction area to form air gaps (5, 7, 8) at the edges, and wherein the total area of passage through the air gaps (5, 7, 8) is substantially smaller than the suction area (3), characterised in that at least one further suction area (30, 40) is provided in the covering hood (2) and has an associated further covering hood (32, 42) which is slightly larger than the at least one further suction area (30, 40) and which is arranged in front of the at least one further suction area (30, 40) to form air gaps at the edges, the total area of passage through the air gaps being substantially smaller than the at least one further suction area (30, 40).

A suction device according to claim 1, characterised in that two further suction areas (30, 40) are preferably symmetrically arranged in the covering hood (2) and are provided with two associated further covering hoods (32, 42) which are slightly larger than the two suction areas (30, 40) and which are arranged in front of the suction area to form air gaps at the edge, the total areas of passage through the air gaps being substantially smaller than the suction areas.
  3. A suction device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the covering hood (2) and the further covering hoods (32, 42) are adjustable.
  4. A suction device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the distance of the covering hood (2) from the suction area (3) and the distance of the at least one further covering hood (32, 42) from the at least one further suction area (30, 40) are variable by means of adjustable spacers (10; 33, 43).
  5. A suction device according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the covering hood (2) is laterally displaceable relative to the housing (1).
  6. A suction device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the at least one further covering hood (32, 42) is laterally displaceable relative to the covering hood (2).
  7. A suction device according to any one of claims 4 to 6, characterised in that a spacer (10), by means of which the distance between the covering hood (2) and the suction area (3) of the housing (1) on each side of the covering hood (2) is individually adjustable, is provided on each side of the covering hood (2).
  8. A suction device according to any one of claims 4 to 7, characterised in that a spacer (33, 43), by means of which the distance between the at least one further covering hood (32, 42) and the suction area (30, 40) on each side of the at least one further covering hood (32, 42) is individually adjustable, is provided on each side of the at least one further covering hood (32, 42).
  9. A suction device according to claim 1, characterised in that the suction area (3) is inclined.
  10. A suction device according to claim 9, characterised in that the inclination of the suction area (3) is between 10° and 20° to the vertical.
