Description

The present invention relates generally to tools of the type of those used for smoothing an optical surface.

By smoothing is meant here, in the usual way, both the polishing as the smoothing of such a surface.

In general, the tools used to ensure such smoothing, and this is the case, in particular, for ophthalmic lenses, comprise, on the one hand, a support, which is rigid, and, on the other hand, a member of work, which is integral with the previous support.

The present invention relates more particularly to the case where this organ is generally annular in shape and at least partially resilient deformable.

Thanks to its annular shape, it is possible to give the organ of work of sufficient dimensions and rigidity to be able to generate the desired smoothing effect, while minimizing, by its recess central, its overall volume, and, therefore, the amount of material elastically deformable which is actually to be deformed.

The compromise thus found is all the more advantageous since, in practical, the useful part of such a working organ, that is to say the part of this the working organ that works the most, is the peripheral part, when, as in this case, this working organ is, in service, the object of a rotational movement around its axis.

As a corollary, the elastically deformable part of this organ of work advantageously allows it to adapt as well as possible to the surface to smooth while ensuring optimal balancing of contact pressure corresponding.

The present invention generally relates to a provision allowing better control of this working organ.

More specifically, it relates to a smoothing tool for optical surface of the kind comprising, on the one hand, a support, which is rigid, and, on the other hand, a working member, which is annular in shape, and which is at less partially elastically deformable, this smoothing tool being of a generally characterized in that the support forms, in hollow, a annular housing, and in that the working member is attached to this support to the bottom of this annular housing, making however obviously protruding beyond the support.

In other words, by the annular housing which it comprises to receive it, the support implemented includes at its root the working organ, and it is thus even to maintain and guide this working organ, for the benefit working conditions of the latter.

Furthermore, by channeling the swelling which is inevitably the object by service the elastically deformable part of this working member, this support facilitates obtaining a uniform distribution of the contact pressure between this working member and the worked optical surface.

Preferably, to best satisfy this swelling, it is provided, recessed, on at least one of the lateral surfaces of the housing annular support according to the invention, at least one unloading groove.

Thus, an advantageous compromise is also found between, on the one hand, the maintenance and guidance sought for the working member, and, on the other hand, the reception volume available for the part, despite everything deformed thereof.

The characteristics and advantages of the invention will moreover emerge from the following description, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which the single figure is an axial section view of a smoothing tool according to the invention.

Tel qu'illustré sur cette figure, et de manière connue en soi, l'outil de lissage 10 suivant l'invention comporte, globalement, d'une part, un support 11, qui est rigide, et, d'autre part, un organe de travail 12, qui est solidaire du support 11.As illustrated in this figure, and in a manner known per se, the smoothing 10 according to the invention comprises, overall, on the one hand, a support 11, which is rigid, and, on the other hand, a working member 12, which is integral with the support 11.

In a manner known per se, also, and as shown schematically in lines mixed in the figure, the support 11 is carried by a pin 13 suitable for allow rotational training.

Soit A l'axe de rotation correspondant.Either to the corresponding axis of rotation.

In a manner known per se, finally, the working member 12 is shaped general annular, having as its axis the axis of rotation A, and, according to arrangements described in more detail later, it is at least partly elastically deformable.

Suivant l'invention, le support 11 forme, en creux, sur sa surface transversale 14 opposée à la broche 13, c'est-à-dire sur sa surface libre, un logement annulaire 15, et l'organe de travail 12 est rapporté sur ce support 11 à la faveur du fond 16 de ce logement annulaire 15, en faisant cependant évidemment saillie au-delà du support 11, c'est-à-dire au-delà de la surface transversale 14 de celui-ci.According to the invention, the support 11 forms, recessed, on its surface transverse 14 opposite spindle 13, that is to say on its free surface, a annular housing 15, and the working member 12 is attached to this support 11 in favor of the bottom 16 of this annular housing 15, making however obviously protruding beyond the support 11, that is to say beyond the surface transverse 14 thereof.

A.In practice, like the working member 12, the annular housing 15 of the support 11 has as its axis the axis of rotation A.

En pratique, également, la surface transversale 14 du support 11 s'étend sensiblement perpendiculairement à cet axe de rotation A.In practice, too, the transverse surface 14 of the support 11 extends substantially perpendicular to this axis of rotation A.

In addition to the bottom 16, the annular housing 15 presented by the support 11 is delimited by two lateral surfaces 17, 18, one internal, the other external, which are coaxial, being both centered on the axis of rotation A, and which, in practice, are both generally cylindrical, extending both substantially perpendicular to the bottom 16.

For example, and as shown, there is an unloading groove 19, and only one, on each of the lateral surfaces 17, 18 of the housing ring 15 of support 11.

A.This discharge groove 19 extends in the middle zone of the lateral surfaces 17, 18, concerning more than half the height of these, and, in the embodiment shown, its bottom 20 is cylindrical, being centered on the axis of rotation A.

Dans la forme de réalisation représentée, l'organe de travail 12 est lui-même délimité par des surfaces latérales 21, 22 cylindriques, l'une interne, l'autre externe, et il couvre la totalité du fond 16 du logement annulaire 15 du support 11.In the embodiment shown, the working member 12 is itself delimited by lateral surfaces 21, 22 cylindrical, one internal, the other external, and it covers the entire bottom 16 of the annular housing 15 of the support 11.

Let D1 be the internal diameter of the working member 12, D2 its diameter external, and E1 its thickness.

As a corollary, E2 the width of the annular housing 15 of the support 11 at its outlet outside.

Préférentiellement, et cela est le cas dans la forme de réalisation représentée, cette largeur E2 est supérieure à l'épaisseur E1 de l'organe de travail 12, en sorte qu'il subsiste, de part et d'autre de cet organe de travail 12, au débouché du logement annulaire 15 du support 11, un jeu J.Preferably, and this is the case in the embodiment shown, this width E2 is greater than the thickness E1 of the member work 12, so that it remains on both sides of this working organ 12, at the outlet of the annular housing 15 of the support 11, a set J.

In the exemplary embodiment, which relates more particularly the case where the optical surface to be worked belongs to a piece of mineral material not shown, the working member 12 is in three parts.

Il comporte, tout d'abord, à compter du fond 16 du logement annulaire 15 du support 11, un noyau élastiquement déformable 12A.It comprises, first of all, from the bottom 16 of the annular housing 15 of the support 11, an elastically deformable core 12A.

This elastically deformable core 12A is for example in elastomer.

Its elasticity is chosen according to the deformation capacity desired and support effort to support in operation.

A.For example, the hardness of this elastically deformable core 12A is between 30 and 80 shore A degrees, preferably being included between 50 and 60 shore A degrees.

De préférence, et tel que représenté, le noyau élastiquement déformable 12A s'étend au-delà du support 11.Preferably, and as shown, the elastically deformable core 12A extends beyond the support 11.

In other words, it projects on the transverse surface 14 thereof.

In the embodiment shown, the working member 12 then comprises between its elastically deformable core 12A and its working surface 24, the latter being formed by its free surface opposite the bottom 16 of the annular housing 15, a surface layer 12B, which is itself elastically deformable, but whose elasticity is lower than that of elastically deformable core 12A above.

While the elastically deformable core 12A has a charge absorb the deformations of the worked optical surface, allowing thus an adaptation of the assembly to this optical surface, the layer of surface 12B is responsible for giving the assembly all the necessary rigidity to allow the desired smoothing.

For example, this surface layer 12B is made of polyurethane.

But it can also be made of elastomer, provided that this elastomer is less deformable than that constituting the elastically deformable core 12A.

Préférentiellement, la dureté de la couche de surface 12B est au moins égale à 50 degrés shore A.Preferably, the hardness of the surface layer 12B is at least equal to 50 shore A degrees.

A.For example, it is between 80 and 90 shore A degrees.

Preferably, also, the height of the surface layer 12B parallel to the axis of rotation A is adapted according to the flexibility desired.

If necessary, a multilayer realization of this surface layer 12B, to generate an elasticity gradient.

In the embodiment shown, the working member 12A comprises, finally, at its free end, an abrasive film 12C, which forms the work surface 24.

For example, this 12C abrasive film is polyester, and it has grains abrasives with a grain size between 0.25 and 45 µm.

But, as a variant, instead of being agglomerated in such an abrasive film 12C, these abrasive grains can be provided by a carrier fluid, such as a liquid, gel or aerosol for example, and be dragged by a sheet of support, in fabric or foam for example, or by a grid, being by example flocked on this support sheet or on this grid.

For example, the three constituent parts of the working member 12, that is to say the elastically deformable core 12A, the surface layer 12B, and the abrasive film 12C, are joined to each other by gluing, and, even, this working member 12 is itself secured by gluing to the support 11.

Preferably, the dimensions of the working member 12 are chosen sufficiently large vis-à-vis those of the defects to be smoothed so that these do not influence the shape components to be respected for the surface optics worked, and small enough for the tool to adapt locally to the shape of the part, so that the gap between the deformations of the working surface 24 and the surface to be treated is as small as possible.

By way of example, and without it being possible to result in any limitation of the present invention, it will be indicated here that, in this respect, particularly satisfactory results have been obtained with the following dimensional values:
  • D1 between 6 and 16 mm, preferably between 6 and 10 mm,
  • D2 between 10 and 20 mm, preferably between 10 and 15 mm,
  • E1 between 2 and 4 mm, preferably being between 2 and 3 mm.

In practice, the elasticity of the surface layer 12B can vary from that from the elastically deformable core 12A to that of a metal.

In other words, according to a variant embodiment not shown, this surface layer 12B is formed from a thin and flexible metallic film.

According to another alternative embodiment, also not shown, which more particularly suitable for the case where the worked optical surface belongs to a piece of organic material, the surface layer 12B is purely and simply deleted.

More generally, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment more particularly described and represented, but encompasses any variant as defined in the following claims.
