- each of the straps 18 When so engaged with the stud 38, each of the straps 18 is stretched, its arrangement, and in particular the location of the opening 19, having been provided accordingly.
- This tensioning allows the buffer 13 to work in better conditions, and in particular eliminates or in any case greatly limits the risk of occurrence, during surfacing, folds on the pad 13.
- the buffer 13 has, thanks to the plate 15 of the membrane 14, extra strength that makes it possible to use a particularly thin buffer 13.
- the arrangement of the straps 18 is here such that the interface 12, under the effect of the tensioning provided by the straps 18, takes a conformation where its peripheral portion 12b is raised, so that the surface 70 of the buffer 13 intended to come into contact with the surface to be worked is slightly convex.
- the tensioning of the buffer 13 through the membrane 14 offers the advantage of allowing easy adjustment of its intensity, by simply varying the location of the opening 19 of the shoulder straps 18, thus providing excellent repeatability. one tool to another.
- the lens 72 to which the surface 71 belongs is mounted on a rotating support (not shown) and the tool 10 is applied against the surface 71 with a force sufficient for the pad 13 to conform to its shape.
- the tool 10 is here, for its part, free to rotate while being however off-center with respect to the optical surface 71.
- the relative friction of the working surface 71 and the buffer 13 is sufficient to rotate the tool 10 in the same direction as the lens 72, about the axis X of symmetry.
- the optical surface 71 is sprayed with a non-abrasive or abrasive watering fluid, depending on whether or not the pad 13 performs this function.
- the tool 10 In order to scan the entire optical surface 71, the tool 10 is moved during the surfacing along a radial path, the point of intersection of the X axis of the tool 10 with the optical surface 71 making a movement. back and forth between two cusp points.
- the membrane 14 offers both a maintenance of tension of the buffer 13 and a surround of the periphery of the interface 12, allows the tool to be particularly effective in maintaining the contact with the surface 71 to work, including when it has large variations in altitude, for example if it is a side of a spectacle lens to correct the vision of a presbyopic wearer, myopic and astigmatic.
- the presence of the flange 61 is also favorable to the uniform distribution of the pressure exerted on the surface to be worked.
- the figure 5 illustrates a variant of the tool 10 in which the attachment means for engaging the distal portions of the straps 18 are not formed by the stud 38 of the core 20, but by projecting studs of the sole 61.
- the wafer 51 is replaced by a wafer 51 'having in an intermediate position between the core 20 and the ring 16, a protruding nipple 55 protruding from the side that is seen at the top on the figure 3 , that is to say the opposite of the interface 12.
- the straps 18 are shorter so that they can operate the desired tensioning by engagement of their opening 19 on the corresponding stud 55.
- the slab 51 'and the stud 55 are made of one-piece molded material, but it is of course possible to return the stud 55 or the like by gluing or any other fastening means.
- the attachment means of the straps such as 18, while remaining at the right of the end surface 26 of the interface 12, are different from the stud 38 and pins 55, for example, at least for certain straps, a portion of the spindle on which the tool is mounted; nipples similar to the pins 55 distributed around the periphery of a core such as 20 or a rigid support such as 60; or else fastening means not belonging to a core or rigid support, for example hooks located at locations similar to those of the pins 55.
- the securing between the assembly formed by the pad 13 and the membrane 14 to the rest of the tool comprises the bonding of the central plate 15 to the interface 12. This prevents the plate 15 can slide with respect to the interface 12.
- the securing between the assembly formed by the pad such as 13 and the membrane such as 14 is only by the shoulder straps such as 18.
- the core such as 20 or the rigid support 60 such as the rest of the tool subject to the straps, such as 18.
- the diameter of the buffer 13 is greater than the diameter of the plate 15. In a variant, the diameter of the buffer 13 is different, for example identical or even slightly smaller than the diameter of the plate 15.
- the buffer 13 is directly glued to the plate 15.
- an intermediate wafer is interposed between the buffer 13 and the plate 15.
- the end surface such as 40 or 25a is not flat but convex and / or the interface such as 12 has an initial conformation curved correspondingly while remaining equi-thick.

Description
The invention relates to optical quality surfacing for surfaces such as a face of an ophthalmic lens or a camera lens or an instrument for observing distant objects or a face a semiconductor substrate.
Surfacing means any operation to modify the state of a previously shaped surface. These include polishing, grinding or etching operations to modify (decrease or increase) the roughness of the surface and / or to reduce the undulation.
In order to reduce the roughness of the optical surface, the tool is brought into contact with the latter while maintaining sufficient tool pressure on it so that, by deformation of the interface, the pad conforms to the shape of the optical surface. .
While watering the optical surface with a fluid, it is rotated relative to the tool (or reciprocally) and is scanned by means of the latter.
Generally, the optical surface is rotated, its friction against the tool being sufficient to jointly drive it in rotation.
The surfacing operation requires an abrasive that can be contained in the buffer or in the fluid.
During surfacing, the elastically compressible interface compensates for the difference in curvature between the end surface of the tool support and the optical surface.
The results obtained by these tools are in general satisfactory, but it is sometimes difficult to avoid certain defects of appearance, in particular the effect of orange peel (in English: orange skin) and of moutonne (in English: sheeplike) .
It has already been proposed, in order to remedy these appearance defects, to give the flexible pad a diameter greater than the diameter of the interface so that the pad has an annular portion protruding transversely beyond the interface.
This tool provides an improvement in surface appearance, but under certain circumstances, such appearance defects still exist.
The invention aims to provide a surfacing tool particularly effective in minimizing appearance defects, particularly but not exclusively for concave working surfaces.

The membrane that comprises the tool according to the invention offers both a maintenance in tension of the buffer and a surround of the periphery of the interface.
This allows the tool according to the invention to be particularly effective, particularly in terms of maintaining contact with the surface to be worked, including when it has large variations in altitude, for example when it 's acts on one side of a spectacle lens to correct the vision of a presbyopic, myopic and astigmatic carrier.
Thanks to its performance in maintaining contact with the surface to be worked, the tool according to the invention makes it possible to obtain a particularly high level of surfacing quality, in particular but not exclusively for concave surfaces.

The
The spindle head intended to be accommodated in the
The connection between the base 11 and the spindle of the machine is by simple snapping, the material surrounding the cylindrical portion 31 being capable of deforming so that the spherical portion of the spindle head is housed in the portion 32.

The

In practice, here, the

Given the rigidity of the

It will be noted that the elastically

Each of the
Alternatively, the
The
Here, the
The respective distal portions of the
When so engaged with the
In addition, the
The arrangement of the
Note that the tensioning of the
It will be noted moreover that it is possible to provide several orifices such as 19 on the shoulder straps 18, in order to offer, with the same membrane such as 14, several intensities of tensioning of the buffer such as 13.
It will also be noted that surrounding the
On voit que l'interface 12 se comprime fortement au niveau de la partie centrale 12a.It can be seen that the
To carry out a surfacing operation, the
The relative friction of the working
The
In order to scan the entire
During surfacing, the fact that the
The beneficial effect provided by the belting of the peripheral portion of the
It will be noted that the presence of the

In this variant, the
Here, the slab 51 'and the
In variants not shown, the attachment means of the straps such as 18, while remaining at the right of the
En variante, dans des configurations où le risque de glissement est faible, l'assujettissement entre l'ensemble formé par le tampon tel que 13 et par la membrane telle que 14 se fait uniquement par les bretelles telles que 18.Alternatively, in configurations where the risk of slippage is low, the securing between the assembly formed by the pad such as 13 and the membrane such as 14 is only by the shoulder straps such as 18.
It is also possible, in certain circumstances, to make the core such as 20 or the
In a variant not shown of the
Many other variants are possible depending on the circumstances and it is recalled in this regard that the invention is not limited to the examples described and shown.
