- a locking system is known from the US Patent 5.826.450 in the name of Codatex ID-Systeme GmbH comprising a locking device consisting of a key and of a rotating lock cylinder set.
- the rotating lock cylinder is rotatably mounted in a casing wherein a mechanical actuator is placed and apted to engage with the cylinder so as to lock/release the rotation of the latter even if the key is inserted.
- the motion of the mechanical actuator is ensured by an electric actuator and by a power supply internally placed in said cylinder casing.
- the main drawback of such type of device of the state of the art is that the mechanical actuator provides a single locking member that can be susceptible to breaking when the cylinder is forcibly rotated. It is to be understood that once the locking member has been broken, the lock behaves like a normal rotating cylinder lock, therefore not providing an improved protection with respect to the analogous cylinder locks of the state of the art.
- the object of the present invention is that of solving such drawbacks of the locks of the prior art providing an improved rotatable cylinder type mechanical lock for doors, windows or the like, associated to a "Transponder” type unit having an independent power supply and such as to make the "Lock-Transponder” set suitable for any application in which a cylinder lock is provided or needed, as well as making the system of easy deploy and maintenance.

- the body 4 has at the central part thereof a rotating cam element 5 suitable for being rotated by the key 1 and for engaging with a lock inside the door frame wherein the system is mounted (not shown and better illustrated hereinafter).
- a front panel 6 is integrally mounted and being apted to contain a first antenna 7 for the activation of the data transmitter unit 3 placed in the key 1, and a first plurality of functional members apted to the operation of the system of the present invention (better illustrated hereinafter).
- a rear panel 8 is mounted, the latter being apted to house a second antenna 9 ed a second plurality of operative members (better illustrated hereinafter).
- a second key 10 is rotatably mounted onto the rear panel 8, and connected to the cylinder 4 in the manner better illustrated hereinafter. It has to be pointed out that the front panel 6 is suitable for being mounted towards the outside of the door or window whereto the locking system of the present invention is applied, while the rear panel 8 is apted to be mounted on the inside of the door or window whereto it is associated.
- figure 2 shows the circuit scheme of the locking system of the present invention.
- the front panel 6 has on its inside the antenna 7 for transmitting an actuation field to the remote unit 3. Further, a two-coloured LED 11, apted to visually signalling the system status and a buzzer 12 to acoustically signalling the system status are provided. Furthermore, a power supplying outlet 13 is provided to energize the system from the outside when needed.
- a power supply 14 for energizing the system is provided onto the rear panel 8 on the inside thereof. Likewise, a two-coloured LED 15 and a buzzer 16 are provided to signal the system status inside the ambient.
- All the members on the front panel 6 and rear panel 8 are circuitally connected to a data processing unit 17 suitable for operating and controlling the system operative logic. Further, the data processing unit 17 is circuitally connected with an electromechanical actuator 18 mounted inside the cylinder body 4 (better illustrated hereinafter).
- FIG 3 shows the assembly of the cylinder body 4 according to the system of the present invention.
- a combination cylinder member 19 is provided for the engagement with the key 1 in the already known manner.
- the inner end of the cylindrical member 19 has integrally mounted thereon a toroidal shaped projecting member 20 having two diametrically opposed hollow regions (or grooves) 21 (better illustrated hereinafter).
- the cam element 5 has a substantially cylindrical hollow shape and is apted to slidingly engage inside thereof with the outer surface of the toroid member 20. Further, the same has grooves 51 as well and positioned diametrically opposed and at the inner perimetral portion thereof (better illustrated hereinafter).
- a second member 30 of an elongated cylindrical shape is rotatably mounted at the rear portion of the cylinder body 4 .
- the member 30 has a first outer end 31 externally and integrally connected with the key 10 onto the rear panel 8, and a second inner end 32 that is apted to slidingly engage with the inner portion of the cam member 5.
- the inner end 32 has a toroidal shape as well, with two diametrically opposed inner keyway regions 33.
- the cylindrical member 30 is hollow, and inside thereof a pin 34 is slidingly housed.
- the pin 34 is apted to slide coaxially with respect to the member 30 according to the direction of the arrow F 1 in the figure.
- the pin 34 has a bush member 35 slidingly mounted onto the former. Between the bush member 35 and the pin 34 an helical spring 36 is placed, in order to exert a reciprocal spacing force (better illustrated hereinafter).
- the pin 34 has a passing key-pin 37 for guiding the pin 34 inside the cylindrical member 30 by means of suitable seats.
- the key-pin 37 is connected at the bottom thereof with a connecting annular rod member 38 which, in turn, is connected to an end of a lever 39 pivoted onto the main body of the cylinder 4. At the opposed end of the lever 39, the same is hinged to the electromechanical actuator 18 so as to be movable the former in the direction of the arrow F 2 .
- the arrangement of the actuator 18, lever 39 and pin 34 is such that to each motion of the actuator 18 in the direction of the arrow F 2 there is a related and opposed motion of the pin 34 inside of the cylindrical member 30 in the direction of the arrow F 1 .
- the bush 35 being slidable in the axial direction of the body of the cylinder body 4, it is apted to engage slidingly in the grooves 51 of the cam 5 as well as in the grooves 21 of the toroid 20 and in the regions 33 of the member 30.
- the function of the spring 36 will be disclosed hereinafter. According to the angular position of the cylinder 19, the grooves 21 of the inner end 20 thereof are aligned or not to the respective grooves 51 of the cam 5. This means that only when both the grooves 21 and 51 are perfectly aligned, the bush 35 can slide under the biasing of the pin 34 until connecting the cylinder 19 to the cam 5.
- the cylinder 19 can rotate without dragging the cam member 5 until the following alignment of the regions 21 and 51 where the biassing of the spring 36 makes the bush 35 to slidingly advance in the aforesaid region 21, thus performing the connection between key 1 and cam 5.
- the key 1 can lock/unlock the lock associated to the cylinder 4.
- the withdrawal of the pin 34 after an action of the actuator 18 causes a withdrawal of the bush 35 from the cam 5 disconnecting the same from the cylinder 19, thus performing the disconnection of the key 1 from the cam 5, consequently disabling the cylinder 4 from the outside until the next connection between the cylinder 19 and the cam 5.
- connection/disconnection between cam 5 and cylinder 19 is appliable for what concerns the connection between cylindrical member 30, i.e. the key 10, and the cam 5. It must be noted here that, when the cylinder 19 is disconnected from the cam 5, the latter is connected to the cylindrical member 30, that is with the key 10, thus enabling the use of the cylinder body 4 only from the inside. Vice versa, by disconnecting the key 10 from the cam 5 the connection of the latter with the cylinder 19 is obtained, thus enabling the use of the cylinder 4 only from the outside.
