Actuating fitting (9, 41, 71, 101, 131) for a sliding leaf (2) the front stile of which is formed of a profile bar (1, 143) having two visible side walls (3, 4) between which is provided for an inner chamber (5) of the profile bar (1, 143), said fitting (9, 41, 71, 101, 131) comprising a body (12, 42) arranged so as to penetrate into the chamber (5) through an opening (8, 10) provided for in the corresponding visible wall (3, 4) of the profile bar (1, 143), and a cover plate (13) being part of the body (12) and adapted to be pressed against the outer face (14, 48) of the corresponding wall (3, 4), in order to cover and close said opening (8, 10), the fitting (9, 41, 71, 101, 131) including, in the vicinity of each end, a fastening organ comprising means adapted to rest on the profile bar (1, 143) and on the body (12, 42), in order to press the cover plate (13) against said corresponding visible wall (3, 4), at least one of these fastening organs being adjustable between a first position in which it is possible to insert the body (12, 42) through said opening (8, 10), and a second position in which the cover plate (13) is pressed against said corresponding wall (3, 4), characterised in that said adjustable fastening organ (20, 40, 76, 102, 121, 162) comprises a rotary tightening element (25, 47, 77, 103, 123, 134, 135, 136, 151, 164) arranged so as to rest at a location other than the visible face (15) of the cover plate (13), in order not to be visible on the corresponding visible face (3, 4) of the profile bar (1, 143), said rotary tightening organ being arranged so as to create, or to actuate or block means creating, a gripping force for the cover plate (13) against said visible wall (3, 4) corresponding to the profile bar (1, 143).
  2. Actuating fitting according to claim 1, said actuating fitting being an operating shell (9) adapted to be fixed to the outer wall (3) of the profile bar (1), characterised in that the rotary tightening element is a screw (25) arranged so as to be screwed in a direction (26) substantially perpendicular to said outer wall (3) of the opening (10) provided for in the inner wall (4) of said profile bar (1), said screw (25) being, for example, adapted to be screwed into a tapped hole (27) provided for in a thrust element (21) pressed by a spring (22) against the transverse edge (23) of the opening (8) of said outer wall (3), in order to tighten said thrust element (21) against a partition (28) integral with said shell (9).
  3. Actuating fitting according to claim 1, said actuating fitting being a lock fitting (41) adapted to be fixed to the inner wall (4) of the profile bar (1) and including a profiled casing (42) with a substantially U-shaped cross-section inside which a sliding unit (44) slides longitudinally, characterised in that the rotary tightening means (47) is arranged so as to be actuated from the visible face (48) of said inner wall (4) through a hole (49) provided for in the cover plate (13) or in a wall of said sliding unit (44), whereby said hole (49) can be obturated by a removable cover (50).
  4. Actuating fitting according to claim 3, characterised in that the rotary tightening means (47) is a screw (47) adapted to be screwed into a nut (51) integral with the casing (42) and to move, either in a sliding way through a cam action or in a rotary way, a thrust element (52, 53) arranged so as to rest on the casing (42) and including, at one end (54), a surface (55) having in a straight section a predetermined shape adapted to rest on the inner ridge (56) and/or on the inner face (57) of the corresponding transverse edge (58) of the opening (10).
  5. Actuating fitting (71) according to claim 1, the body (12) including, at least at the level of the adjustable fastening organ (76), a substantially U-shaped straight section comprising two substantially parallel wings (72, 73), characterised in that the rotary tightening element is a screw (77) passing through each of the two wings (72, 73), through a smooth hole, and arranged so as to move at least a thrust element (78, 87, 92), in order to press a surface having, in the straight section, a predetermined shape of said element (73, 87, 92) against the inner ridge (56) and/or the inner face (57) of the corresponding transverse edge (58) of the opening (10).
  6. Actuating fitting according to claim 1, the body (12) including, at least at the level of the adjustable fastening organ (121), a substantially U-shaped straight section comprising two substantially parallel wings (72, 73), characterised in that the rotary tightening element (123) is arranged so as to rotate around an axis (124) substantially perpendicular to the cover plate (13) and includes at least a projection adapted to be located between the two wings (72, 73) for inserting the body (12) into the opening and to be protruding through a slot (127, 128) provided for in the corresponding wing (72, 73) of the body (12), in order to rest on both the inner face and the inner ridge of the corresponding side edge (110, 111) of the opening (10), on the one hand, and on the edge of the slot (127, 128) of the wing (72, 73), on the other hand, when the rotary tightening element (123) is rotated by an angle at most equal to about 90°.
  7. Actuating fitting according to claim 6, characterised in that the rotary tightening element (123) includes, at each end of a diameter, a projection (125, 126) in the form of a wedge, each projection (125, 126) being adapted to be located between the two wings (72, 73), for inserting the body (12) into the opening, and to be protruding through a slot (127, 128) provided for in the corresponding wing (72, 73) of the body (12), in order to rest on both the inner face and the inner ridge of the corresponding side edge (110, 111) of the opening (10), on the one hand, and on the edge of the slot (127, 128) of the wing (72, 73), on the other hand, when the rotary tightening element (123) is rotated by an angle at most equal to about 90°.
  8. Actuating fitting according to claim 1, the body (12, 42) including, at least at the level of the adjustable fastening organ, a substantially U-shaped straight section comprising two substantially parallel wings (72, 73) having, each, should the case arise, along their free edge, a fold (95, 96) in the direction of the other wing (73, 72), characterised in that the adjustable fastening organ comprises a bearing element (139, 140, 141, 152, 166) provided with means (132, 133) arranged so as to rest on the body (12, 42), and in that the rotary tightening element (134, 135, 136, 151, 164) and the bearing element (139, 140, 141, 152, 166) include respective means complementary to each other, in order to press the cover plate (13) against the corresponding visible face (48) of the profile bar (1, 143) when the rotary tightening element (134, 135, 136, 151, 164) is rotated or inserted, through a slot provided for in the edge (6, 137) of the profile bar (1, 143), into a hole of the bearing element (139, 140, 141, 152, 166) extending at least in the transverse direction (83) of the body (12, 42).
  9. Actuating fitting according to claim 8, characterised in that the rotary tightening element (134, 135, 136, 151) is arranged so as to rest on the edges of at least one hole provided for in at least one or in each of the two transverse walls (6, 7 ; 137, 138) of the profile bar (1, 143), and in that the hole provided for in the bearing element (139, 140, 141, 152) substantially extends in the transverse direction (83) of the body (12, 42).
  10. Actuating fitting according to claim 8, characterised in that the body (12) includes, on the outer face of a wing (161), at least at the level of the adjustable fastening organ (162), a catch (163) arranged so as to engage with the inner face of the corresponding side edge (110) of the opening (10) when said body (12) has been inserted into the chamber (5), then slit against said edge (110) and in that the rotary tightening element (164) is a screw (164) adapted to be screwed into a tapped hole (165) provided for in the bearing element (166) and extending askew towards the side edge (111) of the opening (10) opposite the catch (163) and towards the cover plate (13) so that the end of the screw (164) rests, in the screwed-in position of the screw, against the inner face and the inner ridge of said opposite side edge (111) of the opening (10).
