Definitions
- the invention concerns an atomiser for fluids with the support of compressed gas.
- the atomiser is provided with cleaning systems for cleaning the fluid nozzle and also the gas nozzle.
- the cleaning action is introduced by closing the gas supply and executed by springs.
- the atomiser is so organised that only fluid is forwarded after opening of the gas supply.
- the atomiser loses no droplets of fluid at the start or ending of a period of atomising.
- a plunger activated by compressed gas positions the cleaning tube into working position with thrust bars after which the fluid supply is opened and then the triangular opening will be open.
- the atomiser is characterised in that both the fluid nozzle and the gas nozzle are rigid fixed in the atomiser and the cleaning elements are moving.
- the atomiser is very suitable for humidifying air in spaces, atomising suspensions like disinfectants and such.
- Atomisers of this kind are known from the European publication EP-A-525164. It turned out that the cleaning is not optimal and the production of noise is considerable. By having a separate cleaning system for the fluid nozzle and the gas nozzle it has been possible to reduce the noise of atomising and have a more effective cleaning. Therefore a movable needle is placed in the fluid supply tube and around the fluid supply tube a cleaning element that cleans the gas nozzle.
- the atomiser of GB-A-492852 ( and FR-A-831076) has a fluid nozzle which functions also as cleaning element. The position of the fluid nozzle in working position is dependent of machining tolerances and dirt depositions. The operation of this type of atomiser is easily influenced by differences of the pressure of the fluid supply, which can be considerable in high spaces.
- Fig. 1 The atomiser body is indicated with (1). Gas nozzle (2) is mounted in body (1). On the other side is bottom (3) mounted. Bottom (3) fits in the cylindrical boring (4) where piston (5) moves axially. Piston (5) is urged by spring (6) into boring (4). Needle holder (7), which is positioned in the centre of the atomiser slides through piston (5). Stop (8) is adjustable fixed to needle holder (7). Spring (9) forces needle holder (7) via stop (8). Needle holder (7) is drilled on end (10) with a stepped hole (11). Needle (12) slides fitting through fluid nozzle (13) which is fixed in holder (14). At (15) a part of the wall of fluid nozzle (13) is taken away to have a triangular opening.
- holder (14) In holder (14) is a boring (16) which holds sealing ring (17). End (10) of needle holder (7) slides easily through boring (16).
- a cleaning element (18) composed of a holder (19) and tube (20) which slides fittingly around fluid nozzle (13) and sliding fittingly inside blow opening (21) of gas nozzle (2).
- Holder (19) is urged against body (1) by spring (22).
- In boring (23) lies with play thrust bar (24).
- Thrust bar (24) reaches into boring (4) and has such a length that piston (5) with help of spring (6) displaces holder (19) against spring (22) so far that tube (20) reaches through blow opening (21).
- Compressed gas is supplied via connection (25) and channel (26) which goes from boring (4) until space (27) in gas nozzle (2).
- Fluid is supplied via connection (28), boring (29) to channel (30) in which needle holder (7) is.
- channel (30) is at (31) the passage of needle holder (7) sealed.
- Fig. 1 shows the atomiser at rest. Fluid is supplied under pressure via connection (28). Needle holder (7) rests with end (10) against seal (17) with the force of spring (9) and seals the connection between channel (30) and triangular at (15). Needle (12) reaches whole through fluid nozzle (13).
- Piston (5) pushes with the support of spring (6) and thrust bar (24) cleaning element (19, 20) through blow opening (21).

Abstract
Description
Claims (3)
- Atomiser for atomising of fluid with the support of compressed gas which is provided with a cleaning system for a gas nozzle (2) and a fluid nozzle (13) characterised by that the atomiser (1) is provided with a fixed gas nozzle (2) and a fixed fluid nozzle (13) where the cleaning operation of the gas nozzle (2) by a tube (20) is caused by the force of a spring (6) against a piston (5) where the action of the piston (5) is transferred by one or more thrust bars (24) to a holder (19) of a tube (20) and the cleaning operation of fluid nozzle (13) is executed by a cleaning element (12) through a needle holder (7) and a stop (8) and a spring (9).
- Atomiser according to claim 1 characterised by than the piston (5) at starting the operation of the atomiser (1) by means of a compressed gas moves axially where first holder (19) by the push bars (24) reaches working position after which the stop (8) is brought into action after an adjustable free stroke of the piston (5).
- Atomiser according to claim 1 and 2 characterised by that the fluid supply is closed by the hollow part of the needle holder (7) and the elastic ring (17) in the holder 14.
