    Claims (9)

    1. A method of operating a printing machine including at least one object support (11) rotatably mounted on a conveyor (12) which advances stepwise, at least one radiation type drying oven (13) in vertical alignment with the path of movement of the object support (11) and drive means (14) for driving a rotation cycle of the object support (11) in line with the drying oven (13) when the conveyor (12) is stopped characterized in that, by the drive means (14), the rotation speed (V) of the object support (11) is modulated during its rotation cycle as a function of its angular orientation.
    2. The method claimed in claim 1, characterized in that a speed peak (P) is arranged to be produced by the drive means (14) at the start of the rotation cycle of the object support (11) corresponding to an acceleration phase (P1) followed by a deceleration phase (P2).
    3. The method claimed in claim 2 characterized in that a speed peak (P) is also arranged to be produced at the end of the rotation cycle.
    4. The method claimed in claim 3 characterized in that, when the rotation cycle of the object support (11) comprises two turns, it is arranged for there to be an additional speed peak (P) centered relative to the speed peak (P) at the beginning of the rotation cycle and relative to the speed peak (P) at the end of the rotation cycle.
    5. The method claimed in any one of claims 2 to 4, characterized in that it is arranged for the maximum rotation speed (V1) reached during a speed peak (P) to be at least twice the nominal rotation speed (V2) between two speed peaks (P).
    6. The method claimed in claim 5, characterized in that the nominal rotation speed (V2) between two speed peaks (P) is slaved to the speed of the conveyor (12).
    7. The method claimed in any one of claims 1 to 6 characterized in that a digitally controlled motor (18) is used for controlling the drive means (14) of the object support (11).
    8. A printing machine of the kind comprising at least one object support (11) rotatably mounted on a conveyor (12) which advances stepwise, at least one radiation type drying oven (13) disposed in vertical alignment with the path of movement of the object support (11) and drive means (14) for driving a rotation cycle of the object support (11) in line with the drying oven (13) when the conveyor (12) is stopped, characterized in that, for the purpose of implementing a method as claimed in any one of claims 1 through 7, the drive means (14) of the object support (11) are controlled by a digitally controlled motor (18).
    9. The printing machine claimed in claim 8 characterized in that the nominal rotation speed (V2) of the object support (11) is slaved to the speed of the conveyor (12).
