Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of treatment of mail and relates more particularly to a machine for processing mail with an improved envelope flap closure.
- closing the envelope flaps in a mail processing machine is carried out by means pressure outlet at the franking module, the flaps having been previously moistened by a damper of a power supply module machine mail items located just upstream of this module postage.
- FIG. 3 shows, in order of increasing importance, examples of faults encountered in practice (which are generally amplified by the thickness of the envelope).
- the flap 10 has half-open parts 12, 14 in its two upper corners or unglued parts 16. This defect is accentuated in Figure 4 or the flap may have traces of shocks 18 from the gripping means and the flap curved and open in a upper corner may show part of document 20.
- the object of the present invention is to overcome these defects in the closing of envelopes by proposing a machine for processing mail with a device, both simple and reliable, facilitating the closure of envelope flaps.
- Another object of the invention is to propose a device which can be adapted to the processing machines of existing mail without complex structural modification.
- a mail processing machine comprising at least on the one hand a franking module comprising at least means for printing a postal imprint on an article of mail and means of transporting this mail item along a path for transporting mail items defined by plates upper and lower guide, these means of transport comprising at less mail item pickup means, including lower means vertically movable, arranged at the entrance to the franking module and on the other hand a mail item supply module arranged just upstream of the franking module and comprising at least means for conveying these mail items and a device moistening, characterized in that it further comprises means for support mail items in their movement between the module supply and the franking module, these support means being likely to move in synchronism with the vertical displacement of the lower grip.
- these support means are constituted by a deflector flap articulated by one of its two edges longitudinal on one body, or base, of the franking module, the other of its two longitudinal edges coming to rest on the lower plate of guiding the transport path of mail items in the module postage.
- the deflector flap disposed transverse to the transport path for mail items is mounted by clipping onto a hinge pin of the module body postage.
- the support means are constituted by a deflector flap articulated by one of its two edges longitudinal on one body of the power module, the other of its two longitudinal edges coming to rest on the lower guide plate of the transport path for mail items at the module entrance postage.
- the deflector flap is mounted on an edge front of the moistening device.
- the invention also relates to a franking module a mail processing machine comprising means printing a postal imprint on a mail item and means of transporting this mail item along a path transport of mail items defined by upper plates and lower guide, these means of transport comprising at least means for picking up mail items, including a movable lower means vertically, arranged at the entrance to the franking module, characterized in that it further comprises means for supporting the articles of mail entering the franking module, these support means being likely to move in synchronism with the vertical displacement of the lower grip.
- the support means consist of a flap deflector articulated by one of its two longitudinal edges on a body, or base, of the franking module, the other of its two edges longitudinal coming to rest on the lower guide plate of the path transport of mail items.
- This deflector flap arranged transverse to the transport path of mail items can be mounted by clipping on a hinge pin of the module body postage.
- FIG. 6 illustrates very schematically two of the constituents main of a mail processing machine.
- a mail item supply module 30 provided with its means for conveying mail items, for example two rollers superimposed drive 300, 302 including a motorized, and then a franking module 32 of mail items provided with means printing equipment (not shown) and its means of transport mail, in particular two superposed pick-up rollers, a motorized roller 320 and a vertically movable counter-roller 322, mounted at the input of this module.
- these gripping means can also be constituted by a simple belt.
- the power module includes conventionally at its outlet a moistening device 34 for wet the flap of the envelopes which will be closed when they pass later through the take-up rollers of the franking module.
- Connection means 36 are further provided at each of these two modules to ensure mechanical connection and continuity of electrical connections within the mail processing machine (these connection means defining a minimum non-zero space between the two modules).
- this mail processing machine has other mechanical components (selection module by example) than electronic (command and control means).
- selection module by example
- electronic command and control means
- the inventors were able find that such a conventional franking machine was not free from defects, especially in the area of flap closure envelopes. They were able to note, after multiple tests, that these defects came mainly from the poor conditions of engagement of envelopes in the module input take-up rollers postage. Indeed, they were able to note that during its advance the envelope undergoes several successive micro shocks on the lower roller of taken of this module which may distort its guidance along the path of transport. This is all the more noticeable since the flap having been previously moistened, it has a natural tendency to open under the effect of gravity.
- the inventors have imagined a device for assisting with closure envelope flaps in a mail processing machine that is able to suppress, or at least limit, the micro-shocks suffered by the envelope in its transport from the power supply module to the module postage. They also sought to improve the guidance of the envelope so that its engagement in the franking module is done in the best possible conditions, especially without deviation.
- means are proposed for supporting the mail items as they travel between the feed module and the franking module, these support means being susceptible to accompany the lower gripping means arranged, at the input of the module of postage, in its downward movement when the article of mail has a certain thickness.
- FIG. 1 A preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in Figure 1 which partially shows the franking module 32.
- This module has two pick rollers at its entrance superimposed 320, 322 and two guide plates, a bottom plate 324 and an upper plate 326, which define a path between them transport for mail items.
- the lower pick roller 322 is movable vertically in the body (also called base 328) of the module postage and it involves in its movement the guide plate lower 324 of the transport path.
- the support means are made up by a deflector flap 330 arranged transversely to the transport path mail items over a length substantially corresponding to the width of an envelope.
- This component (illustrated in Figure 2) which is presented in the form of a rectangular plate 332 curved at one of its two longitudinal edges 334, 336 is provided with cheeks 338, 340 on its two side edges.
- Clips 342, 344, 346, one at each edge lateral and at least one in a central position, are provided on the edge longitudinal curved 334 to be fixed on a hinge pin 348 integral with the body of the franking module 328 and thus allow a pivoting of the shutter about this axis.
- the free longitudinal edge of the flap 336 opposite the articulation axis rests by the side cheeks on the plate lower guide 324 of the transport path for mail items, such that the upper surface of the flap is substantially tangent to the peripheral surface of the lower pick roller 322.
- the envelope is constantly supported in its transfer between the power module and franking module and shock are almost eliminated due to the tangential connection of the shutter with the pick roller.
- the deflector flap can just as well be articulated by one of its two longitudinal edges on a body of the power module, its other longitudinal edge coming then rest on the lower guide plate of the transport path mail items entering the franking module; so that substantially tangent the peripheral face of the lower roller of taken.
- this other longitudinal edge can come to rest directly on the gripping means itself (roller or belt). More specifically, such a movable deflector flap can be mounted on an edge front of the moistening device.
