Definitions

  • the invention relates to a insulation displacement contact with two spaced arranged opposite, spring-like clamping legs, each one having free end portion, wherein the free end portions in the direction of each other are angled and a slot for contacting and clamping detention of an electric wire.
  • the invention further relates to an electrical Connecting device for connecting at least two electric wires, having the two such insulation displacement contacts.
  • a generic insulation displacement contact is known from EP 0 247 360 B1, wherein the slot is elongated for holding a wire along the length of a wire profiled portion of a conductive part is formed, which in this area has a hollow polygonal cross section.
  • insulation displacement contact of course also be inexpensive to manufacture, which is both the choice of materials as well as a Mass-based shaping concerns.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to provide a cutting terminal contact and an electrical connection device with two such insulation displacement contacts provide, over the prior art by use advantages in terms of improved clamping and contact capability as well as by particularly favorable Characterize manufacturability.
  • This object is characterized in a generic insulation displacement contact solved that the clamping legs as extensions of two opposing Side walls of a basic body with closed polygonal wall cross-section are formed.
  • the object of the invention is achieved in that two cutting terminal contacts according to the invention in a conductive connection in one Housing are held.
  • both block and terminal blocks will be realized.
  • FIG. 1 to 5 show in different views and sectional views details a cutting terminal contact according to the invention, wherein this in the here described embodiment as part of a in Fig. 6 as a whole
  • electrical connection device e.g., terminal block
  • Fig. 1 to 5 has a generally designated 1 insulation displacement contact four side walls 2, 3, 4 and 5, namely two narrower side walls 2, 4 and two wider side walls 3, 5, which have a rectangular cross-section Form body.
  • adjacent side walls are angled Sections joined together, and one of the side walls is angled through, overlapping lugs 3a and 5a of the adjacent side walls 3 and 5 educated.
  • the entire insulation displacement contact 1 is preferably by punching and Bending a sheet metal blank produced, with the overlapping approaches 3a, 5a for increasing the dimensional stability of the four side walls 2, 3, 4 and 5 existing body positively and non-positively connected are by punching 7 introduced into the parts 3a, 5a with a suitable tool are.
  • punching could also be another connection technique such as spot welding may be provided.
  • FIGS. 1 to 5 further show are in extension of the wider side walls 3 and 5 clamping legs 10, 11 are provided, the free end portions 12 and 13 angled and define a rectilinear slot 15, the opposing, sharp side edges of the free end portions 12 and 13 for contacting, i.e. Cutting the insulation, and for clamping holding an imported serve electrical wire.
  • the slot 15 can widening one of its end portions to the insertion of a wire to facilitate.
  • the angled, free end portions 12 and 13 of the clamping legs are not directly opposite, as clearly shown in particular in FIGS. 1 and 4, but in the extension direction the clamping legs are offset from each other, whereby the effect is achieved that a straight line (i.e., in one of the sidewalls 3 and 5 parallel orientation) inserted wire in the region of the slot easily is angled and thereby enters a modified clamping action.
  • the improved clamping and contact action of the insulation displacement contact of the invention results from the fact that the clamping legs 10 and 11 against the known embodiment of the prior art not by a their Foot points connecting web portion are held, but in one piece by extension the side walls 3 and 5 of a rectangular cross-section main body are formed.
  • the side walls 3 and 5 form due to the one-piece construction together with the side walls 2 and 4 a comparatively rigid Structure, so that the spring characteristics of the clamping legs 10 and 11 practically are determined solely by their dimensions, ie in the present example by the dimensions indicated in Fig. 2 b (width) and l (length).
  • the side walls 3 and 5 take due to the connecting these side walls 2 and 4 at a Deformation only very little part.
  • Fig. 6 shows the structure of a generally designated 17 connecting element with two cutting terminal contacts 1, 1 'according to the invention, for installation in a electrical connection device such as a terminal block provided is.
  • the connecting element 17 consists of two mutually mirror-symmetrically opposed arranged cutting terminal contacts, which - as already in Fig. 1 to 5 indicated - by a U-shaped angled, elongated conductor 16th connected to each other.
  • Fig. 6 clearly shows that both the middle conductor 16 as well as both insulation displacement contacts 1, 1 'from a common, punched out Sheet metal blank are made by folding, wherein the side wall lugs 3a, 5a or 3a ', 5a' are each connected to each other by punching, as far as possible to create a rigid connection.
  • FIG. 7 to 9 show in different views an electrical connection device, in which a connecting element 17 in a preferably made of plastic Housing 20 is held.
  • a connecting element 17 in a preferably made of plastic Housing 20 is held.
  • the housing 20 In rectangular recesses 21, 21 'of the housing 20 are slider-like connection tools 23, 23 'slidably received.
  • each Connection tool is with a passage opening 25 or 25 'for receiving a connecting wire and with an actuating opening 26 or 26 'for insertion a lever or rod-like actuating instrument for longitudinal displacement the connecting tool, wherein the actuating instrument into a recess 28, 28 'is to be performed in the housing 20 provided.
  • Fig. 7 and 8 show in the right part of the illustration in each case the connection tool 23 'in a position in which the passage opening 25' in the actuating direction seen in front of the slot 15 'of the insulation displacement contact 1', so that one to contacting wire through the opening 25 'inserted and the connection tool 23 'by means of a through the opening 26' to the serving as an abutment recess 28 'to be introduced actuating instrument, such as a screwdriver, by pivoting movement to the center of the housing 20, can be moved so that the left in Fig. 7 and 8 each drawn position of the connection tool 23 results.
  • actuating instrument such as a screwdriver
  • connection tool 23 or 23 ' has a profiled section 29 and 29 ', whose cross-section complementary to the hollow cross-section of the remaining between the clamping legs 10, 11 Interspace is designed so that a through the passage opening 25 or 25 'introduced Wire is safely inserted into the slot 15.
  • a second section 30th or 30 ' which is arranged at a distance from the first section 29 or 29' is to the slot forming free end portions 12, 13 of the clamping legs to record in between.
  • a connecting this and the slot by cross web can be arranged. This ensures that even relatively soft wires safely and without excessive deformation will be moved into the slot.
  • FIG. 10 shows a perspective, exploded view of two parts 40, 40 ' a generally designated 17 connecting element, wherein the parts in this Case are identical to each other, while Fig. 11 different views of a single Part 40 and 40 ', and Fig. 12 corresponding views of a connecting element 17 shows in the assembled state.
  • Fig. 10 From Fig. 10 it can be seen that the two parts 40, 40 'by punching and folding are made of two sheet metal sections, with a special advantage the split design shows that at no point a bend of more than 90 ° is necessary, since the closed cross-section of the respective body of the Cutting-clamp contacts 1 only in the assembled state (FIG. 12) by interaction the two parts and their side wall sections 2, 2 'and 3a, 5a' or 5a, 3a 'is formed (Fig. 10).
  • Moderator 42, 42 ' are mutually displaced at the same height in the longitudinal direction.
  • locking tab 44, 44 ' engage in corresponding recesses 46, 46' of the side wall sections 3a, 3a '.
